Given we don’t need to go through the playoffs does this mean we could have a friendly or two around March instead?

Absolutely. Crucial they will be to. Never been a great fan of friendlies but these will be vital in our development for the summer euros.

Yeah, there'll be two friendlies I imagine.

It’s an International window so we will have two fixtures to schedule. Hopefully one home and one away.

FAW likely to attempt to cash in on qualification feel good factor and play the home friendly at the Millenium stadium - assuming there is a home game?

So we should have two friendlies in March and then I assume we can choose to have one, two or three in the build up to the tournament? So potentially 5 overall? I think we'll need as many as we can get really.

Slovenia at home at the Cae Ras, Greece away.
Other considerations for June could be Northern Ireland, Serbia, Kosovo, Norway & Romania unless any qualify (I expect Serbia & Kosovo to qualify).

I'd like us to play at least one side outside of Europe if possible. They'd have to be a strong team though. It's annoying South America begin World Cup qualifying in March. Mexico would be good if we can get them over here after playing them in the US twice (2012 and 2018).

A UEFA Nations League A side or a strong non-UEFA team at a decent time preferably Saturday or Sunday. No doubt we could get over 60k / possible sell-out, after having 50k v Spain on a Thursday.

Apart from the novelty factor is there any value in playing African or South American sides vs playing, say Ukraine (as prep for Russia) or Holland (as prep for Denmark)?

True enough, I just like to see different sides, and with the Nations League now there's little room for UEFA teams to play non-UEFA teams.

I think it’s always worthwhile trying to vary the opposition outside of competition warm ups, but there is the question of how much you can learn vs playing teams who are similar in style to your future opponents. But that’s if you believe in that sort of thing. Arguably with the globalisation of football’s domestic leagues it’s not as easy to say “team A plays like team B because they have players in the same league” as it was years ago

If I remember correctly, Bale and Ramsey didn't feature in our March 2016 friendlies and we lost 6 days before Bordeaux v Sweden, so I don't think you can read anything at all into friendlies really.

If we had 5 friendlies I think it would be worth playing against two non-UEFA teams, as playing against culturally different sides is good for the development of our younger players. And then you can still use the other 3 to prep against 'similar' sides to ones we would be playing against in the group stage.

I think we should tour Wales with these friendlies really, if we're going to have 5. Have one game in the CCS (possibly the biggest name side), one at the Liberty and one in Wrexham. Reward those fans who travel large distances just to get to a home match.

Wouldn't mind inviting Catalonia over though!

Maybe Giggsy can use some contacts and get a game in old trafford. Kidding.
I’d quite fancy someone like Italy or Germany home, not played them in a while. Proper glamour fixture. Not in the Millennium though, the Spain game was utter shite.

I thought it was 3 teams per group? They've changed the format. Nobody got relegated in the end, but teams who won promotion will be getting promoted. There's now 16 teams in Leagues A, B & C and 7 in League D. Which means all groups are 4 teams apart from one of the two League D groups which only have 3.

Home Vs Morocco?
I’m guessing we’ll see who we get and where we have to play and play teams of a similar standard. If we get Baku I think Armenia away or Georgia away to warm up could be a good option. Norway away if we get St. Petersburg.
