3 away games? Im presuming you mean the nations league? I thought it was 3 teams per group? They've changed the format. Nobody got relegated in the end, but teams who won promotion will be getting promoted. There's now 16 teams in Leagues A, B & C and 7 in League D. Which means all groups are 4 teams apart from one of the two League D groups which only have 3. That's shaping up to be a really good competitive tournament next year. We should be looking to win our group and a possible play off place. Not that we'll need it of course. When the hell is the draw for the next world cup qualifiers. Originally scheduled for July it still hasn't taken place.

One suggestion is the 10 group runners up and 2 from the nations league = 12 to go down to 3.

If we had 5 friendlies I think it would be worth playing against two non-UEFA teams, as playing against culturally different sides is good for the development of our younger players. And then you can still use the other 3 to prep against 'similar' sides to ones we would be playing against in the group stage. I read that as non-FIFA originally! Wouldn't mind inviting Catalonia over though! Would love to play them, would be a good test!

Mexico, USA, South Korea or Japan in that case then. Unless Asian teams aren't free at the time as well. Asia have qualifiers too. Looks like Africa are free, possibly Ivory Coast? would be great to play usa and south american country but would it benifit us?

We can't play South American as in March they begin their World Cup Qualifiers. Will any friendlies benefit? I don't think the pre2016 ones did tbh.

Can we have a double away header? Ivory Coast and Rep of South Africa?

Either that, or Giggsy manages to talk to his mates in Vietnam about a friendly in Ho Chi Minh City ;-))

I think we should arrange at least one if not all friendlies with top class teams because all our euros opponents will be better or evenly matched sides. Although matondo was poor in his 10min cameo against Azerbaijan, that was against a rubbish team with a deep defence. Given that schalke haven't started him once against poorer sides and yet he's started and done well against Leipzig and Dortmund, it's fairly obvious that he struggles against compact, deep defences but can be a threat against sides that come on to us. With that in mind, he could be a real weapon against the likes of Belgium or Italy at the euros. So it might be good to try him against similar opposition in a friendly - could try a diamond formation e.g.
GK defence Ampadu Ramsey Allen Bale Moore Matondo
Obviously we have options with James for Matondo, potentially bale to partner one of the youngsters up top, brooks or Rambo in the 10 role, and Morrell, Smith or joniesta as one of the two mids ahead of ampadu.
The formation would be ideal for ampadu, who could slot back when needed. Matondo and Rambo have played it a few times this season, so might be worth a try as the go-to counterattacking formation

Does anybody know if there's anything stopping us having 'B' friendlies where we could play some fringe players at similar times to the 'A' side?
Eg A side play somebody in Cardiff on Saturday, B side play in Wrexham Friday night.

We have never played France at home so provided we aren't grouped with them on Saturday that would be a huge game - plus perhaps Russia in St Petersburg or Denmark in Copenhagen or even Italy in Rome again provided we don't draw any of them out next Saturday.

Eg A side play somebody in Cardiff on Saturday, B side play in Wrexham Friday night. I imagine it’s just down to resources. It must carry a huge expense to play internationals with the entourage that comes with it. Probably clubs won’t want their players to play in B internationals either. I wouldn’t mind seeing us field B teams regularly with U23 internationals not quite good enough for the main team.

Games won't be in Wrexham. Obviously FAW or Giggs isn't happy with it after T&T game as Belarus game was at CCS

Three/four easy games before the euros would be my choice. Go into the tournament full of confidence.

Three/four easy games before the euros would be my choice. Go into the tournament full of confidence. One thing we haven't done under Giggs is win against a top team. Something we had done under Coleman which instilled a lot of belief in the players and fans prior to Euro 2016. Assuming we have 5 friendlies, I'd like to see 2 against weaker opposition, 1 against evenly matched opposition, and then 2 against top tier sides. I think this gives us the option of testing fringe players in two games, having a mix of our 1st XI and backup players, and then a full first XI against the top teams with an eye on trying to beat one before the tournament. E.g European countries; Estonia Armenia Czech Republic Netherlands Germany

Think all our home friendlies (ones coming up not forever) should be in MS, as, unless we get the Copenhagen group, all the stadiums will be massive and players (especially championship players) will need the experience of playing in a full house in a 70,000 seater.

Maybe full house is pushing it - but last game there was mid week and non there will be the EURO feel good factor - even if half empty maybe good prep for Wales v Czech Rep in Baku

Friendlies are dead in the water as a way of filling stadiums.
It would take a major marketing push/top-end opposition/probable weekend kick-off/guaranteed appearance from our first xi/and (probably) favourable ticket prices to fill the Millennium in the run-up to the Euros.
Giggs will obviously need some warm-up matches though.

Malta away (for a sunny break, more than anything) Poland home (plenty of Polski living/working here would increase the attendance).

Allowing fans from all over wales to get to and from Cardiff for the match.
