Maybe he just wants to feel the love at a club instead of the crippling scrutiny and pressure at a club like Madrid. He's put up with it for 6 years at Madrid, it's bound to take it's toll eventually. I want to see him happy, playing regular football, fully fit, and scoring goals. If this move provides these things then I can make my peace with it.
I think though I only want to see him up front for Wales now though. I would rather Brooks/James on the wings for sure.

Let’s not get sidetracked from the fact this is an absolute SHITHOUSE of a move for him. Nothing to gain other than lining his back pockets, and it’s truly terrible news for Wales that our talisman is playing a substandard level in the Far East. Absolutely gutted

Other notable players currently playing in China; Oscar, Hamsik, Paulinho, Carrasco, Dembele, Hulk, Eder, Fellaini, Miranda, Arnautovic, Talisca.
He'd be playing in the same team as Eder, Miranda, Paletta and Alex Teixeira as the other foreign imports.

Terrible move. He only turned 30 a couple of weeks ago. He should be on top of his game now not looking for an easy life.
The only hope I can see for him to ever play at the top level again is that the owners of this club own 70% of Inter Milan. The Chinese league finishes in November. Let’s hope he gets a loan to Inter or something!

Personally he feels very much dead to me now. Playing at a standard that is pretty much an irrelevance at only 30.
You couldn’t blame someone with a low profile like HRK for taking a quick pay-day, but of all the money Bale must have earnt from Real and sponsorships and endorsements I’m not buying it that he has done it to give his family a better life etc.
He has sold himself out and I can’t respect that.

I'm not sure that's necessarily the case. It's been clear that many European clubs have had major doubts about signing him. There have been rumours of potential moves to United, Bayern, PSG and Tottenham in recent weeks, none of which materialised. We don't know what financial details were discussed, whether he'd have agreed to take a pay cut, and whether it'd have made much difference, particularly given the fact that he'd still have commanded substantial wages and most of the top clubs are vying for younger players. It’s quite simple though at the end of the day: if you want to play the best level of football you can, you take a pay cut. The guy, nor his family, is never ever going to want for anything in life again so how much money does he need? Go and play for West Ham for a pittance if you have to just to show the world that they have written you off unnecessarily. Show some balls and spirit....or slope off to the far end of the footballing Earth to pick up a sackful of cash for achieving sod all.

On a more positive note, his agent has got the massive payday that he has been trying to engineer all summer long.

What kind of message does that send to some of the younger players in the squad when the talisman is playing (basically) friendlies in China?

To look at the positives ( I sometimes feel I’m the only one on here who does this)
- easier games, less strain on the body, fresher for Wales
- the above will mean less risk of the injuries he’s been suffering lately
- away from the negativity of Real Madrid
- there are some top players there so the standard can’t be THAT bad
- could do the same for China as Beckham did for America ( let’s face it, if Beckham was Welsh we would have still picked him at 30 playing in the American League)
Also, there were not that many realistic alternatives as most clubs had ruled out signing him (Unfortunately I personally don’t consider him taking a 95% pay cut to play for Cardiff in the championship a realistic alternative)
Let’s judge him on his performances for Wales moving forward, that’s all I really care about.

Some in Twitter are saying that Bale shouldn’t be picked again because the Chinese league is ‘league 1 standard’.
They are seemingly oblivious to the fact that we currently pick league 1 players, ha ha.

Some of you are so dramatic this is nothing but a fantastic move for him his bank balance. Fixed. His standing in world football is going to take a nose dive and that is bad for his legacy and memory. Where does he go once the three year contract is up? No decent team in the west will touch him. His career as an elite level player is over at 30. That’s pretty sad for Bale except he won’t realise it now- it will only sink in with age and maturity and he looks back at how he could have done so much more of merit in the game but instead took the money.

Ambition is critical.. You have to look at why at 30 he taken money over a challenge , said previously look ant Zlatan Ibrahimović who has gone to numerous clubs and won trophies.. Cristiano Ronaldo at 34 gone from man u to madrid and Juventus and being outstanding for his country.... Bale has not been the best since euros and we have alm blamed RM but may I dare say has GB attitude there not helped and rumours that he sit out his contract playing golf not helped ...

Old boy Barnett has been well and truly blinded by the Chinese Yuan. He must be laughing, slavering, masturbating all the way to the China Development Bank without stopping to think for one sordid minute about his client's professional development.
He has clearly put his own needs first in my opinion although GB hasn't covered himself in glory in all of this and should have manned up.
Barnett's advice to his client should be that a move to China (or the US) can come in the twilight of his career and that he is still good enough to be playing at La Liga / Serie A or Premier League standard, even if it does mean taking a pay-cut. This is the level that he SHOULD be playing at.
JB thinks he has just won the Euromillions without for one minute stepping back to realise that this is an awful, professional move for GB at this stage of his career.
'It could be you.......'
Jonathon Barnett... it is...

He will be THE big name in the Chinese League, he will be the target for every very average players, stop him at any costs, players that he comes up against. We are all assuming that despite his RM experience he is deep down that same Gareth Bale that loves playing for Wales. If he has fallen out of love with football, what's to say that he is still in love with Welsh football? I'm guessing with flight times being at least 13 hours we will shortly find out.

Getting kicked isn't what causes his injuries. Him busting a gut in games to take the ball past opposition players and strike a ball with the power of Thor is what seems to take a toll on the lad. Sadly, we don't see him doing this as often in games as he needs to manage his injury but he's still capable. In China, he won't have to get out of 2nd gear.

I think the bottom line is that sadly he is going because he knows his own body and he knows its just not up to being a spearhead/driving force at a club in the top divisions of Europe,so he's taken the guarantee of the cash and it doesn't matter if he is one sprint or tackle away from another 3 months out injured.

Do you all honestly think that there was an offer on the table from a Bayern/PSG and that he turned it down to go to China??? It sounds to me as though the European links were pure speculation and that China was the only offer to get out of Madrid. I don't believe for a second he actually had the offer to go elsewhere in Europe. Therefore it was China or a season on the bench at Madrid.

I he took a pay cut ... yes it's easy for us to say... he could be playing in the premier again

If some reports are accurate, the PSG offer never materialised because Neymar wasn't keen, Bayern were interested but they feared they would not have the means to buy Sanè who was reportedly their main priority. I hear Tottenham made an enquiry at the eleventh hour but the details haven't been disclosed.

Apparently a three year contract is on the table. Nice work if you can get it. Good luck to him if he goes, stays healthy, re-kindles his enthusiasm for the game, and pulls us out of this current slump in the Euros. We need him firing like the last Euro qualifying campaign.

This is all totally pathetic. I'll forever be grateful for the joy Bale has given us as Wales supporters. However, how the hell has this happened?
He seemed so respectful, level headed and driven. Then that stupid hairstyle came along, those horrid, ungrateful Real Madrid supporters and then Zidane. His team mates slag him off in public because he does not wanted to get pissed up with them. Then it all falls apart. I can't remember someone disrespecting a team mate like he did with one of the Real Madrid players who always seemed genuinely joyful for him when he scored. That was unnaceptable - wish he'd knock out Cortois instead - he is a totally jerk and if anyone should be shipped on for poor performances then its him with the amount of goals he has shipped!
I do dislike Bale's agent Barnett. Its so clear he is trying to get himself a second big pay off. Why the hell else is he pushing Bale towards China? If Bale can't even integrate in Madrid then Barnett knows it will be a disaster for Bale in China. Where are his family? They must know a move to China is so wrong for him. Bale stop playing golf and make the most of your career while you can.
If he goes to China his standard will slip further. He is a bit of a liability when he plays poorly for Wales as he does very little from a defensive perspective and so I hope Giggs is ruthless is that happens. I will always be grateful to Bale but no one is bigger than a country and if he does not add to a team then he should not get picked.
To be honest I am totally stunned by all of this. Someone so driven with such a gift to entertain is going to a backwater like China having only just turned 30 and just one year after scoring the best Champions League goal ever, because of so many unlikely circumstances, such ss Zidane returning less than a year after leaving, his agent's greed and the fact Real Madrid gave him such a crazy salary! This could only happen to Wales!
