Speaking of Mark Hughes and Kappa, we're finally getting round to a podcast about the #HughesYears - having done the Yorath Years earlier in the year - so please tweet your memories, thoughts, reflections about his reign to us using the above hashtag or reply to this message. I think I tweeted this, but in more than 143 characters - my main reflections were that Finland away (my first away game) was my personal highlight along with the win at home against Italy. I lost one of my shoes in the queue for the train home that night, but genuinely didn't care as it was such a fantastic night (I think the Sais drew with Macedonia the same evening so we had a good time). Although we made the play off, the second half of that campaign was pretty poor. I think the Serbia game was postponed due to their President getting killed or something so the game was rescheduled and my memory of it was that we lost a bit of momentum through that. Either way, going into the play off we were already getting some disappointing results compared to the start of the campaign. Remember being in Moscow for the play off too and we were kept inside the ground for about an hour on a freezing Russian night and most of us were stood there just wearing football shirts thinking the 0-0 was a great result to take back to Cardiff. Sigh. |
