Already a much better watch than the latter part of the Grainger era. The press has been superb Amazing what a change of manager can do...........

Great performance and we probably left 2 or 3 goals out there. Had we been more ruthless, that could have easily been 6 or 7 nil.

Fishlock's technique, vision and awareness, as well as her mental stamina is off the charts.
Like Bale in deed, thought and commitment - how much she cares about our country just makes you admire her even more
Manager does seem like an upgrade.

I think Wilkinson called it correctly after the game, a good performance not a great one. Some excellent goals, especially the first, and good approach play. However a lot of overhit passes and crosses. With a bit more composure they could have got several more goals against a very poor Croatia side.
That said a very good start for Wilkinson's tenure.

Against tier 1 teams we will still struggle for sure but what I liked about what I see is Wilkinson's drive, direct communication and confidence to try young players out Drive - that surely comes across to the squad. She is obviously a leader who has a plan Direct communication - you see it in her interviews and maybe they always do it but to make clear what the players needed to do by showing the players clips at half time of the spaces available to exploit when Croatia were sitting back was excellent. Confidence - we could have added to the 4-0 by keeping players on the pitch but she sees the bigger picture that it is the perfect time to throw players on so as not to waste the opportunity to both see what they can do and to develop them. The opposite of this was Grainger's one obvious weakness You just see the direction and self believe from her - so far so good for sure

Listening to the Kosovo match on Radio Cymru, Rhian Wilkinson doesnt stop screaming instructions on the touchline. Great to hear! Take note Page….

I think we can already say that we've improved significantly from the Grainger era. Lovely controlled purposeful football. Making the most of Fishlock's ability. Her defence splitting pass for the second was a joy to behold.

Still insane that Wales can totally boss this group and all they get for it is a spot in the play-offs

Very impressive stuff. A massive step up from the Grainger era, when we often looked inept. In and out of possession we were slick, disciplined and creative. Lovely combination play, and a nice mixture of close passing and long diagonals. Did I mention I was impressed?

She would have been a fool to turn it down because I thought she was very sackable towards the end there.

The who qualification process seems completely daft. Just have groups with more teams? It's a different process this time because of the reduced time between tournaments as a result of COVID (the last Euros was delayed), I think. On the plus side it's six winnable games to get the system right and improve confidence etc, looks like we should top the group and get ourselves as favourable as possible a playoff draw. Great chance of qualifying this time.

A six-nil away win with Jess Fishlock getting her 150th cap as captain.
No live thread on Walesonline mind. We have still a way to go.
Rowe and Elise Hughes with a brace, Barton and Morgan also getting goals. Fishlock with two assists.

Don't expect much from Wales Online. Such is the cost cutting there that they no longer cover Swansea away matches. So the chances of them covering Cymru women away is negligible.

Very impressive, loved how high we've pressed in both games and pinned the opposition in - 62% possession today, 75% against Croatia. Anytime they got the ball back we pressed aggressively with our centre-backs venturing deep into their half to win possession. It was like watching Spurs play

The more I think about it the more impressed I am with the Wilkinson effect. To be fair to Grainger she had tough opposition in the Nations League matches, but even so, we struggled a lot of the time with the basics. I often thought "surely players like Ingle and James should be a lot better given the calibre of their club sides".
The last two games have shown the quality in the squad and I think we can look forward with a lot of confidence to the rest of the qualifying campaign.

Can someone please confirm my understanding ?
I get that in League B we cannot qualify directly as group winners but go into the play offs. If we win this Euro 25 qualifying group, we are promoted, but only to the Nations league A. We then have to avoid finishing bottom in the next Nations league qualifiers, or 2nd bottom and lose a relegation play off, to go into the next Euro qualifying stage in the top tier and so have a possibility of direct qualification for the next Euro finals.
I watched the game against a poor Croatia side, and then watched the last 10 minutes of England/Sweden, and the gulf in athleticism and class from our game, even in the closing minutes, was very noticeable. So however well we played there's a fair amount to go before we bother the big teams.
And why are Switzerland even in the qualifiers if they are already guaranteed a place as hosts ?

It's simple...
"The play-offs determine the final seven teams that qualify for the final tournament and are played over two rounds."
Okay, now it gets more complicated.
Step one (for us, hopefully): 12 B teams will play each other with 6 best seeded against 6 worst. N.b. it's probable one C team included as Switzerland a B team who automatically get through.
Step two: 14 teams play each other with 7 highest places seeded again. This is made up of 6 B league winners from Step one and rest from winners from 16 games pitting A league teams not already qualified against the best from C league.
Winner of Step two make it to the finals alongside the A league teams who got to avoid the extra steps.
That's my take on it at least.
I've not looked at what it means for Nations Leagues or further qualifications but, I would guess that, it means we end up in League A as one of the worst teams and end up playing a League C team in Step one and get get seeded for Step two.

Are the step two contests in groups or knock-outs? If so, are they single matches or home and away contests?
