Whilst this move may be good for george not convinced its good for the national team. Said the same thing on fb and didn't go down well. I see george as having potential and enjoyed his performances for us but he needs the right environment, going to league 1 does not automaticalky mean its beneficial at international level.

So after a load of promise and some good performances in the previous qualifiers, where is he now? Doesn't seem to be anywhere near the Fulham first team. Was at MK Dons until 3 weeks ago when his loan ended, now back at Fulham, currently in the U23's regaining fitness. He played 90 mins for them on Monday in fact in a 2-1 victory v Middlesbrough, he scored the 2nd (penalty).

A quick update on George Williams as I was curious to see how he was doing. He is currently playing 90 mins every week for Fulham U23's.
Since the start of the new year he has scored 8 in 9 games which is a good return at any level. In the past month he has got 5 in 5 so his form is increasingly getting better and we'll hopefully start seeing him in the Fulham first team as they push towards 6th place.
The U23 side have been playing a 4-2-3-1, with Williams mostly playing the 10 role behind the striker with just a couple of games on the left wing. A quick fact - every time he's played the 10 role since January (barring one game in which they lost 2-0 to West Ham) he has scored at least one goal during the game. He is by far the stand out player for the team.
It is encouraging to know that Jokanovic does have the "if you're good enough you're old enough" mentality as we've seen with him playing Sessegnon at left back, so if he fancies Williams then hopefully he will feature 5 or 6 times before the end of the year.

Update on George: Fulham U23's have played 6 games since the last update. George has played in 5 of them and has scored 4 goals in those games, along with 1 assist.
So since January: Games: 14 Goals: 12
Hopefully he'll get a permanent move next year, can't see him breaking into the Fulham team, especially if they get promotion.

He seems to have just stalled which is a major shame. Hopefully he gets a move away

He has been scoring for fun for Fulham's u23 side, at least he's getting minutes under his belt. Hopefully he'll get regular first team football next season.

Seems to be a similar situation to Jonny Williams, good player but for whatever reason he can't break through at club level. It's a shame Wrexham or Newport aren't in league 1 and can pick up these Welsh lads and give them game time.

Sounds crazy but the most Welsh clubs at the minute are Barnsley and Ipswich.

Wherever he goes he needs a full season of first team football, U-23 football just isn't good enough. Same goes for Harry Wilson.

But it's nowhere near enough physically or mentally challenging Yes, the level of intensity is probably the biggest difference. I imagine most u23 matches have more of a friendly feel to them where many of the players stroll around, whereas in senior football they all chuck absolutely everything into it.

It's all well and good showcasing your talents at u-23 level but essentially pointless if it just results in flopping at the likes of MK Dons.
If he has to do an Emyr and take a pay cut to get first team football then hopefully that's what (not so) young George will do next season.

Yeah seems that way, hopefully he gets his chance soon. Problem is, Fulham will be seriously pushing for promotion next season so he'll do well to break into the team after they invest in the summer. If it doesn't happen he should follow Huws' lead and get out on loan to really show what he can do.

It's good enough in the sense there's skills and technique on show. But it's nowhere near enough physically or mentally challenging Indeed. Lesson 101 when taking your UEFA C: "Understand and value the difference between skill and ability" A skill will get you noticed, but the ability to transfer those skills onto the field of play and knowing when to apply them in a game setting under pressure is what will make you succeed. U23 is certainly a lite version of what they actually need at that level!

Yes please, he would have to take less money. Pompey haven't had a Welsh player for some time.

George is now a free agent and just been linked with newly promoted, Rotherham. Think this could be good for George, especially after been snubbed by Giggs and dropped recently from the extended 32-man squad.
Williams linked with Championship move
Former St Johnstone loanee George Williams could stay in the English Championship after being linked with a move to Rotherham.
The recently promoted side are interested in the winger, who is a free agent after leaving Fulham.
He spent the last six months on loan at St Johnstone and impressed, and HITC also report that Barnsley are also interested in signing the Welsh international.

WTF? Surely a more higher up the pyramid would have been a better option?
