Without a shadow of a doubt, OFW been a great servant but can't keep picking him because he's good on the guitar in the team hotel..... Bollocks!!!

He is. But given he's turned us down at least once, possibly twice, I think we can assume he sees himself as English

Not surprised given your knowledge and interest for Welsh footy. Think Llanerch is right in that he's turned us down twice. Think his Dad played for Wales, or am I making that up? But his last rejection was pretty clinical I seem to remember. I think we have three contenders anyway rising up in the form of Ward, O'Brien at Man City (English dual qualified) and Michael Crowe at Ipswich (Norwegian dual qualified). Who knows maybe some of the older names like Maxwell could still rise up the ranks.

Wikipedia tells me his grandfather was in the 58 World Cup squad, which is a pretty decent link to say the least. Goalkeeper is the one position that worries me, if Hennessey gets a long term injury we've got no goalkeeper in the ranks with no more than 3 senior caps.

One is Andy Dibble's kid. Ward is the future, with Maxwell potentially providing back-up and being a challenge, which is the key thing. I kind of get the Hennessey criticism that some fans have. But he hasn't been challenged. He's had understudies but not challengers. He was anointed as the future form the age of 16 or so and hasn't had to fight for the shirt ever. Not even when Myhill was in the squad. Our defenders didn't trust Myhill, and who lacked bottle anyway.

Plenty more years left in Wayne,s reign as Wales no1. I agree. Too many people disassociate the keeper from the defenders in front of him and fail to see them all as a unit

German born but no need to worry about defection to them with a name like Adam Rhys Davies! So much Welsh interest at Barnsley now, the club alsmost deserves a player watch thread of it's own as there are certainly future caps there - Adam Davies, Gethin Jones, Marley Watkins, Tom Bradshaw, Ryan Hedges, Jake Charles... And our old Lewin Nyatanga, who's out on loan (probably to put him in the shop window for a move to Barcalona)

Maxwell back between the sticks today following his call up to the national squad this week. There’s a good chance he’ll earn his first cap some point during the tournament.

Looks like Maxwell has had to drop a division to get game time.

I heard that rumour a couple of days ago. The reality is that he hasn't been playing for our senior team even though he was our main keeper for the U21's and I don't blame him for going for Scotland when Giggs has been putting English guys in instead of him. Another person leaving under Giggs' watch. Again, where is Giggs? Yet again we haven't heard a peep out of him outside of international matches.

Hibernians Chris Maxwell has revealed his desire to play for Scotland according to the commentary team currently on bein sports 3 You could tell this was going to happen, and it was always a fear of mine if he was never picked. He'll be first choice for Scotland without a doubt, lives for the big occasions and one of the best keepers I've ever seen in a Wrexham shirt. Speed, Coleman & Giggs are all to blame for not giving him a chance.

Let's look at the facts, he had two seasons in the championship where he played most games, and then was dropped for the third season, before moving to hibs. If he's not good enough for an average championship side, how can you say "He'll be first choice for Scotland without a doubt"? And how does playing well for wrexham in the conference show he should have played more for wales? delusion

"Let's look at the facts", Maxwell is the only Welsh keeper playing regular football this season because everyone else is shite, and we're about to hand him over to Scotland. There's nothing absurd about it, he's been overlooked because nobody wanted to upset Wayne, who I'd be more than pleased to see in tears after the amount of times he's cost us.

The main keepers ahead of him in recent years are Hennessy, Ward, Davies, OFW, etc. Welsh born Owen Evans and Maxwell himself have also had brief call-ups or been put on standby. There’s at least 6 there who can’t be described as ‘English guys’ How far back are you going?

Didn't realise Osian Roberts was a player as well... He said “another person leaving”, not “another player”.

Didn't realise Osian Roberts was a player as well... He said “another person leaving”, not “another player”. Yeah but I asked him what players have left. The circumstances surrounding Osian leaving are in now way comparable to any player leaving our setup.

Forgotten man Maxwell the hero saving 3 pens in the shoot out as Blackpool dump West Brom out of the cup.
Still can’t work out why he wasn’t in the last squad with Hennessey and Davies out.
