They finished fifth.. their highest position since the Champions League play-off in 2015. I do share the misgivings about Lazio though. On the other hand, Arsenal look like a team on the move this year under Emery but there's no telling how that will translate in practice and if they do end up making it back into the top 4. But then in theory, Lazio could make it back into the Champion's League. Then, if rumours are to be believed, he could be off to Barcelona, but realistically, how much game time would he get?? But these are potentially his only prospects if he fancies a move abroad. I can see why he's in a quandry.... EDIT: Interesting analysis on Ramsey's statements here: dailycannon.com/2018/07/aaron-ramsey-makes-it-crystal-clear-what-he-wants-to-sign-new-5-year-arsenal-deal/

I might be clutching at straws ... but this looks promising ...
‘Aaron is an important player,’ said Emery.
‘The contract is between the club and the player.
‘I want him to stay and I think he will stay.’

I reckon he'll stay. Emery's part of these negotiations and knows what Ramsey wants out of this new deal and how likely he is to get it. I doubt he'd be saying this if he wasn't confident of getting Ramsey to stay - perhaps a deal is now within sight. Maybe, the speculation about the negotiations being centred on his role and status within the team, rather than the money, might be accurate - á la Bale.

A lot can happen in football in 13 days... 😮 Although I think he will stay.

Thats another story, the most ridiculous decision ever made by Premier League clubs this. They have literally handicapped themselves. Whilst the English window is closed, the foreign clubs can cherry pick their players and the English clubs are powerless to replace them. The sentiment is good, a settled squad before the season starts. The reality is clubs are now in a frantic panic buy situation as the World Cup has reduced the window to only a few weeks of trading. Lunacy!

On another note, I've just seen this : www.joe.co.uk/amp/sport/chelsea-arsenal-ramsey-192371The source is The Mail (so large pinch of salt required at this time), but if more media outlets start reporting it, I'll start panicking.. Just as Arsenal were starting to get their act together and look like a cohesive unit once more, this (potentially) happens. My first thought was that Eden Hazard is likely off to Real and Chelsea are looking for a replacement midfielder before the 9 Aug deadline looms... Maybe no cause to be too alarmed, given they only finished seven points above Arsenal last season! But the plot thickens 😮

It wouldn't be worth it surely, for him to move to another Europa League side. If he wants to move for career development reasons, a top four side would make more sense... but I share your concerns about Man Utd! 😯

Why would you prefer that he goes to a direct London rival, rather than a club in Manchester?

Why would you prefer that he goes to a direct London rival, rather than a club in Manchester? Presumably because he values Aaron's development over inter club rivalry.

Any reason Chelsea would develop him better than United would? Chelsea would probably loan him out to Vitesse Arnheim like the other 90% of their squad.

And his negative brand of anti football doesn't fill me with confidence that he'll get the best of Ramsey.
I don't particularly want him to go to Chelsea but if he did sign he'd be a key man for them, him and Kante would run that midfield.

Maybe, but its the third season, Mourinho is just warming up his exit, hell be gone by Oct, then Rambo has every chance to be playing for one of the elite clubs in the world, rather than a direct London rival, that changes managers like i change my underpants....... once every few years

The saga continues: www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/719982/Arsenal-transfer-news-Barcelona-Aaron-Ramsey-Ousmane-Dembele-swap-deal-Gossip-Unai-Emery/ampYes - I know it's from the Daily Star lol! The potential options involve Man Utd (park the bus mentality with an awkward manager who might be on his way anyway given its his third season), Chelsea (a bit "meh" for me - found them slightly underwhelming last season), and if the latest rumours are to be believed, Barcelona (where game time might be an issue). At least, Arsenal seem to be rejuvenating after a stagnant period and seem to be a united, cohesive team right now. Given the statements of Lacazette, Cech and Mkhitaryan in recent days, Aaron is a revered figure there who commands respect, and they have offered him a five year contract. I'm with Manulike on this one - please sign that contract Aaron!!

Yes. I agree. But it is not about them. Its about the right platform for our diamond to shine on. That platform isn't in Spain. At least not in Barcelona. Wouldn't mind him moving to Madrid, though - either Atl or Real

Hopefully nothing serious and just precautionary

From most of the blogs I've seen, Arsenal fans seem pretty reasonable. A great deal want him to stay but there is also a fair proportion that are geting fed up of the ongoing contract situation. I can't say that I don't see their point. I love Rambo but realistically, if we were talking about any other midfielder, I'd want them gone if there were doubts over their commitment to the club. The discrepancy in the domestic and European transfer windows hasn't exactly made things easier either. If he were to leave now, the sale could be used to buy a replacement before the deadline closes. Whereas in this situation, we are at the mercy of European clubs potentially buying some of our best players post deadline, leaving us unable to replace them until the next transfer window. For the record, despite supporting Arsenal, I think Ramsey should go where he will fulfill his potential. Right now, I think that's Arsenal (I probably would have disagreed this time last year), and I do think that he will stay.

My thoughts too... but Chelsea are not far off the top 4 spot are they. It was a close run-thing last season between them and Liverpool. Despite Liverpool's resurgence, I don't think it's a given they'll finish top 4 again.
Anyhow, I'm quite disappointed with these rumours... I don't think he'd enjoy the same dominance with Chelsea.

Think he’s given Arsenal a lot. They picked him up for peanuts and he has been a model pro. Fans treat him with contempt (well most seem to) - Wenger gone now. Time for a new challenge- think it would benefit wales as well.
