I think that was the issue. All the talent in the world but not the mentality. Could have easily been a midtable prem player or better if he was more determined and worked harder. All the talent in the world and could of been a mid table player lol Strange comment. I actually said he could have easily been a midtable player or better. My point is obvious.

Your point is wrong
Fact is he had a very mediocre career.

Your point is wrong Fact is he had a very mediocre career. I'm not disputing that. Hence the "could". Not sure why you're having so much trouble with this? My original post was agreeing with your point that he couldn't be arsed. He clearly had the talent to be top quality, but didn't reach his potential. That was my point.

Absolutely. I know the reality is that we don't have the luxury of options like other countries but something like this can't be ignored. The only difference between something like this and what happened with Lee Hughes is luck.

If we're not going to pick Ched on principle, then Tom shouldn't get off lightly. He's an international footballer who kids look up to ffs.

Pillock in this day and age, and a poor example to kids as mentioned.

Ched is not being picked because he’s no longer good enough, nothing to do with principle.

Bad crash Can't see Lawrence being called up next week. Good grief, that looks horrific! I hope first and foremost, that everyone is safe and okay. It's certainly not an example to set as a Wales player. Needs a reality check.

We call that a light collision in the industry, but both players are very lucky this didn't end up like some Marcos Alonso/Lee Hughes scenario, could have very easily dragged someone innocent into their fuckwittery. Looks like the stupid bastards tried playing dodgems with 4x4s.
On reflection, Giggs, a man well-known for his above reproach moral fibre, will most definitely start him if he scores a few goals between now and October.

Complete and utter clown, however talks of dropping him are a bit extreme imo. Don't think we have the strength in depth to afford that.

I wouldn't select him for the next qualifiers, and let his club deal with him discipline wise.
He is supposed to be a role model, and he should realise that his actions have consequences in all facets of his life.

He's injured his captain as well. If Derby fans didn't hate him already...

More bizarre or more idiotic is they both in separate cars and tom hit a tree. Is it definitely drink driving or could it be due to the treacherous snow and icy conditions that can hit Derbyshire at any moment?

To be fair you can see in the pic that the place is covered in snow. Derby must have it's own micro-climate.

It is a joke really and is why I've more or less completely stopped following my club side, just the national team for me now. Edit- In saying that, this is the national team...but morals do definitely go more out of the window at the clubs!

Be fair, I don't recall rugby players getting dropped when getting into trouble. Mike Phillips got into a fight in Cardiff, didn't stop the WRU calling him up. But then again, they did drop Andy Powell after his golf buggy incident, so maybe dropping Lawrence is the correct thing to do. Shagging grannies and prostitutes never stopped England calling up Rooney. Lawrence is an idiot thought. Together with his disciplinary record, he's becoming quite a shitty little character.

Some places of work will fire you after a conviction for drink driving. Others won't and will offer you alcohol related support and guidance.
Nobody has been convicted yet, despite the inevitability of it, so Wales are free to pick Lawrence at this stage and are arguably free to pick him after any court case too.

Shagging grannies and prostitutes never stopped England calling up Rooney. You're comparing apples with oranges. How is shagging grannies putting lives at risk? There is still a moral debate about standards of behaviour there but neither of those scenarios involve breaking the law (well prostitution is although very often not actually enforced) and both are nowhere near the scale of getting behind the wheel of a car when pissed up nevermind being so over the limit you crash into a tree. It's about time football said enough's enough and they won't let this stuff go simply because the person involved is worth a few quid on the transfer market. It's so tiresome seeing footballers placed above the law. Because of their asset value, to be held accountable for your behaviour as a footballer you either have to shoot someone in the street, be accused of rape or kill someone with a car. Anything else you have carte blanche where the average man in the street would have the book thrown at him.

Oh he'll be molly-coddled the whole way through the process, there is no doubt about that. It's just up to the FAW whether they want to show that they take a dim view of drinking and driving and make an example of him....but we all know they won't. Perhaps if footballers thought there would be dire consequences for their career they wouldn't get caught up in these sorts of incidents in the first place?
