If he had any sense he’d go to la liga. If there was a bid he may have the option but I haven't seen any They won’t pay anywhere near the wages of a mediocre PL side unless you sign for the big 2

More likely being rested for newcastle. He's played every minitue for a good few games now so hughes is being smart, knowing they can write off the game against chelsea with all their defensive injuries, and so focussing on newcastle.

Another one keeping his options open.. Also talk of Giggs being favourite for the Stoke job from The Mirror (probanly not the most reliable of sources).. Can't see that happening myself.

Odds tumbling on Allen joining Celtic, what a waste. Dont see it to be honest, they would struggle to pay his wages. And there would be a number of Premier League clubs interested if he was made available. Stoke City would be daft, moreso crazy to let him leave, hes someone you can build your team around as the primary playmaker. If i was a manager at one of the top clubs i would look to bring him in as a player you could bring into a game to control things, a team like United could do with that type of player to replace Carrick, they look bereft of ideas at times, they wouldn't go that way mind. At Arsenal, if they decide Wilshere isnt going stay fit, Allen would be a good replacement there. Liverpool were crazy to get rid, he would be perfect to direct traffic in that midfield. So Celtic..... would be incredibly lucky to get his services, but dont see it happening. Im sure this will be quoted when Sky Sports News Headline is "Joe Allen Signs for Celtic".

So Stoke look nailed on for the drop after another loss. What now for Joe Allen?
There’s been a lot of critisicism of Bale and Ramsey not fulfilling their potential but if there’s one player utterly wasted at a club it’s Allen at Stoke.
Yeah we all know he’d be great at the likes of Sevilla but where will he realistically end up? Back at the Swans? Considering he left Liverpool for the potteries after making the Euro team of the tournament, it’s hard to say.

Considering he left Liverpool for the potteries after making the Euro team of the tournament, it’s hard to say. They are officially down. Swansea and Southampton face each other in midweek and one of them will gain something - maybe both. So there's no way back for Stoke. I'm not sure if Allen has been 'wasted' at Stoke. I'm pretty sure he's been one of their best players, not just last season but this season as well. But clearly, he will be moving now.

It remains to be seen how Wolves will get on in the PL though. They suit him footballing wise, but I would rather he went elsewhere. Wolves strike me as a club who won't be able to take a crisis.

Why so sure? The agent connection? Just wonder if one of the super clubs might come in for him? Maybe outside of the PL

Maybe outside of the PL Wolves have little reason to sell. With their backing, they'll be targeting Europe from the off. He'll go after one season I reckon.

I've thought all season that he was on a one season loan from Porto and they paid some crazy loan fee. Don't know why I thought that. Yes I see what you're saying now. Wolves could be in for mega bucks in a year's time if he treats the PL like he treated the championship

Don't think Swans would be anywhere near relegation if they had someone like Joe in middle tbh. The games I been to in last 2 seasons, their biggest problem has been opposition teams virtually walking through midfield straight onto a defence that contains Olsson, Fernandez and bloody Naughton for most part. There quite a few games where this has happened, where a Joe Allen would certainly be snapping at peoples ancles and retrieving ball better and quicker with more forward accurate passing. Clucas and Carroll are not good enough.

I'd rather see him go to an Everton/Wolves/Newcastle style side and flourish rather than him being in another relegation battle

There no point joe going to big clubs and being a bit player like at Liverpool.he could make a good impact on clubs mentioned she may not be struggling at foot of premier.
We all have rose tainted glasses when it comes to Welsh players like me with Lawrence

But Swans don't have anybody that does what he does, a big part of their problem is not having a player that does what he does, he is defo affordable, knows he is loved there and imo, if they stay up, he wouldn't be opposed to going back there. As far as other signings I think they need, CB (maybe x2), RB, MF, Winger.

I think Connor Roberts will be the first choice RB next season whichever league we are in. There needs to be a massive turn over of players this summer. A new LB, Striker and 2 CMs at least. Allen would be a good addition.

Would be a great signing for the Swans if they stay up. Or Cardiff if they dont stay up. Be nice to see the best Welsh players playing for Welsh clubs. its not feasible for Bale or Ramsey, so next on list is Allen.

Charlie Adam on radio 5 live criticising some team-mates for taking liberties at Stoke City. Don't think Joe could be placed in that category, just about their top performer this season.

I still don't know why Allen went to Stoke. Hughes must have given him the hard sell that they'd build the team around him and push for Europe. That and some massive wages.
