Gutted. He's easily a premier league player, Stoke should be counting their blessings.

A bit surprised, but this deal smacks of Allen guaranteeing a good salary for several years and Stoke securing his services and ensuring they get a good transfer fee if he were to leave. It provides Allen with the incentive to continue to perform for Wales - as this will be his best platform for securing a move to a foreign or Premier League club.

Disappointed but I said the same thing when Chester signed for Villa.
Allen will still perform for us and that's all that really matters.
What annoys me most is that some of my Liverpool supporting mates are adamant that he's not very good, they'll use "He's in the championship" against any argument now, daft.

As I understand it, there was a clause in his previous contract along the lines of - if a top 6 club come in for him for 25m he will be allowed to leave. That was never going to happen, so I'm hoping he's signed this contract with more realistic terms e.g. if Stoke are not promoted in the first year a release clause of ca. 15m kicks in.

I don't get why all the critizm of JA. I assume his agent and him have looked at all the options and made the decision that suits him. Few on you keep saying he should be paying in Spain Germany Italy etc but if a club from these countries had came for him I think he would have decided to play in a sunny climate than f#@king stoke lol He will play regular in a tough league not sat on a bench in premier or playing a few competitive games in Scotland.
Good luck to him .

And do you really think playing in Russia would have been a good move for him and uproiting his family? didn't do Mcgeady much good.

Ours would rather be in the championship collecting decent money over doing this....We've only been to two tournaments ever. We're the ones who are wrong. There's countries who didn't exist until 1990 that have been to double the tournaments we've been to. We need players winning trophies and believing they are winners

He manages to secure a five year deal and everyone cries fowl. He needs to come out of his shell and demand a move imo. He probably chickened out of signing for a new club. On a serious note, I'm not surprised, however it's pretty horrendous that one of our top 5 most important players is in the Championship.

Very dissapointed, he should be playing Premier League football. Your career is so short in football, need to make sure you play at the top as long as you can.

Couldn’t caare who plays for as long as he steps up for Wales If he's happy where he is fine, probably on Premier League wages to re-sign with Stoke City anyway. He's good enough for any team in Premier league.

How about him being chosen in the team of the tournament for Euro 2016? He'd be the first name down in my Wales team coz he's that good/ important.
