Not another Derby fan on here... Must be the sheep shag connection. Welcome anyway.

I think next time our national side get a free kick, there will be a line of five or six behind the ball - just like with the English corners ;-)

Another goal for Joe. Looks like he’s starting to rediscover his scoring boots.

...nose dived spectacularly... I mean, seriously... I like Allen, but he's not wrong. 4 years ago he was involved in a Premier League title challenge, now he's 14th in the Championship Nosedived spectacularly is a bit strong but his career has taken a turn for the worst over recent years

And I may have called it wrong about Ramsey going at best sideways if he left Arsenal but I'm very confident in saying that Allen, at best, would be looking at mid table prem if his career picks up. I can only rationalise it as clubs don't value his role. We talk a lot about every player under the sun going abroad but I think in Allen's case the type of role he performs is probably better suited to a continental side than the fast pace of the premiership.

It's far too early to make a judgement about Allen's long-term prospects. He had the misfortune of getting relegated with a club that pretty much no one would have predicted would be relegated at the start of last season, and they're currently under-achieving - but I still suspect they'll make the play-offs. Regardless of where Stoke are next season it would be surprising if Allen isn't back in the Premier League. I think Allen is very much suited to the Premier League, with his terrier-like attributes, combined with his excellent close quarters distribution. The fact that he's largely avoided injuries over the last couple of seasons will stand him in good stead - in contrast the situation when he was still at Liverpool.

It feels like his stock has fallen given how he has slid down the leagues, compounded by declaring his happiness at Stoke. Can't help but think his decision to choose Swansea over Stoke was a defining point in the fortunes of both Allen and Swansea.

Awarded MoM and got the 2nd goal - simple tap in. 6th goal of the season. Ash was also good today. A lot of aggressive attacking and looked very fit.
Tyler came on after 60 mins - but as United did so much defending, he could hardly do too much. Has one shot from 20 yards, to the goalie's right.

It wasn't a simple tap in at all - it was a superbly timed run. Any striker would have been chuffed with that goal. He's scored a number of quality goals, and produced excellent assists too this season.

Will he be at Stoke next season? Maybe he can find a team in Italy or Spain . But realistically he'll stay in England. Surely some prem teams will be looking at him, Leicester / Rodgers? Bournemouth? Maybe Spurs would like an upgrade on Dier

His stock has probably fallen further after an average season with Stoke.
Camt see anyone paying big money for him although Leicester could be a possibility with the Rodgers link.

You know that for sure? The fact that he's the leading tackle maker in the Championship suggests you're just flogging yet another agenda of yours.

You know that for sure? The fact that he's the leading tackle maker in the Championship suggests you're just flogging yet another agenda of yours. Is that enough though? I watched him a few times for stoke last season and he always put in a shift and was great at intelligently breaking up play. We all know that's one of the main parts of his game. However, the other side of his game that's made him so good for us and I remember him doing it for swansea, was to always look for the ball and keep things ticking over - to be brave and ask for the ball in deep positions and help build play from there. In all the games I watched him play for stoke last season he never did that, he never went looking for the ball. I'm not sure if that was by instruction or loss of confidence, but there was a massive part of his game missing and he didn't look half as effective. Thankfully, he doesn't seem to have taken that into internationals yet.

Last season he was played in a more advanced position. I don't know if that's continued into this season. But to have a league leading stat in a team that's massively underperformed isn't an achievement to be sniffed at. One thing that's certainly encouraging about the last couple of seasons, unlike Bale and Ramsey, Allen has largely remained injury-free. To be honest, an injury-free match fit Joe Allen is good enough for me. He has the ability and intelligence to deliver for Wales what he may not be being asked to do for Stoke.

I dont have an agenda. I rate Allen but am realistic about how good he is.
He is currently playing for an under performing championship team and you counter that with hes made the most tackles.
Would expect that of a savage or a vinnie Jones.
I expect more from Joe

As much as it frustrates me, and it's a big statement, but Joe will be in the Championship until he retires I'm afraid. He hasn't set the world alight (he was never going to really) in the championship and he's getting older. How many players in their late 20's get back into the Prem after dropping down? Not many.
It's sad, but that's the way things will go. I just hope it hasn't affected his sharpness and ability.

Stoke won't be going back up so they will look to cut their wage budget and sell some of their players. You can't keep the same team once you have gone down longer than a season.

Why will he be in a premier league team next season? I'm a Swansea fan and I like joe a lot but he was in the midfield of a team that went down and are now 16th in the championship.Though saying that i'll always want him in the Wales team.
