Allen is a massive loss, he is one of a few players who would definately be picked if everyone was fit
Allen Ramsey Bale Williams A Bellamy
The other 6 places could be easily debated
Hennasey Myhill Collins (although many of u debate it) Matthews/Ricketts/Gunter/Richards Taylor/Davies
Collison/ledley/Vaughan/ (for 1 possibly 2 places
Vokes/Morison/Davies/Cassidy If Bellers doesnt play up front

We will all know where we stand by Wednesday but do hope that the FAW and/or our manager will state whether they agree or not with the timing of the operation, should he miss the up coming games.
I do wonder whether because it has been announced more than one week before the big games that Wales would not be able to utilise FIFA rules?
Could be just cynical or wrong?
He is a loss if he does not play.

Maybe Vaughan or Crofts in before him though? Are either of them getting regular football?

Maybe Vaughan or Crofts in before him though? Are either of them getting regular football? Nope that's the problem, Vaughan started to pick up a lot of games but has slowed down again. I'd like to see Cookie take a 'risk' and go with Joniesta in midfield!!

I know the window is small but is there a chance he could play a part against Croatia on March 26th?
Just wondering like

I know the window is small but is there a chance he could play a part against Croatia on March 26th? Just wondering like Nope. Think about it: Its Liverpools choice when he has the operation, if you were the Liverpool manager you would be looking at the week before the international break to have it as thats the maximum amount of time a club will have for such an opportunity- he will be missing a couple of weeks where Liverpool effectively don't have a game. So he has the op on the Monday after Liverpool have played that weekend- it is 'only' a shoulder injury, but he is still going to need to recover, can you see him back playing for the Croatia game just over a week later?

As I have said on another thread, we will know where we stand by Wednesday. My hope is that the FAW have been in discussions with Liverpool and that Joe Allen has given his point of view.

You're welcome to your opinion abwales but that lineup wouldn't be my fourth or fifth choice

Very proud of him. Excellent in interviews and well spoken. I suspect he will be desperate to be available to Chris Coleman. Lets hope that this is possible without risking his longer term well being.
Great to see the background - gives me some hope!

he's wearing a Wales trackie with our badge in the background.... that interview must have been after the Austria game? If he's going to be out for 3 months it doesn't make much sense for him to have the op now. Why doens't he wait till May? I thought he was excellent when he came on vs Spurs at the weekend. We would miss him.

The interview was from today. I think he was doing press for the sponsor because he did a twitter Q&A with Vauxhall, also they had Naysmith interview about Scotland on ssn. The way he was talking I imagine they'll do the operation so he's ready for next season, so once Liverpool have nothing to play for he'll have the op.

If the recovery time is 3 months then that puts an entirely different spin on things. If he is fit enough to come off the bench on Saturday then it makes sense that he sees the season out and has the op in May.
However knowing the way things go I bet he will still miss the qualifiers because of it.

Makes no sense to have the op now. And his recent form has been good anyway- so its not like its restricting him at this point. Looking forward to seeing him in the starting line up in Glasgow.

So he had a shoulder injury, which Liverpool kindly let their opponents know about, he played for Liverpool regardless, and now he's aggregated that injury and misses two qualifiers for Wales. Is that a fair summing up of the situation?

So he had a shoulder injury, which Liverpool kindly let their opponents know about, he played for Liverpool regardless, and now he's aggregated that injury and misses two qualifiers for Wales. Is that a fair summing up of the situation? Its weird how it has worked out. He needs shoulder surgery, which will require 3 months recovery, but he doesn't have to have it right away. He plays for liverpool and allegedly 'aggravates' this injury and now he will miss the game as I was confident of all along. Whatever the truth of all this, leaking that injury info to the media has provided the perfect cover for Allen to miss the double header. My point here is that if you take the most cynical outlook possible when it comes to our players and their attendance you will usually be right- I may not have been right about the exact circumstances, but I knew he wouldn't play and I was ultimately right.

Proof that its all about opinions- exactly why I would pick Collison over Ramsey (at this point in time). Currently, Allen is far more important than Ramsey imo (although he is not having the best season either) and for me he is a massive loss. I think the Jocks will be boosted by not seeing his name on the team too.

I still think rambo is the better player and hopefully will show us that on friday. Loss of Allen is a blow but we appear to have the resources to cover him for a change - plenty here think there were other options anyway. It does stink how the injury came to light and the release to the press i just hope that allen does not start the first liverpool game after the internationals - then I think we have aright to question his priorities.
