He'll almost certainly play for us wide left in place of Bale in the coming games. Let's see how he does. He's pretty much first team regular now at Reading, which is a good start.

Didn't he go off injured though? (as did Bellamy) and with Bale already out that means out 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice left sided attacking players are all currently injured! Ridiculous. Does any other team in the world have worse injury issues than us?

www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/aug/13/leicester-city-reading-championship'Hal Kanu can play up front in this league without a worry' - Brian Mcdermott As its going to be 4-3-3 from now on, Speed really needs to work out a first choice team in that formation and surely Speed has learnt by now that Earnie is not the man to be up tp on his own. You'd think? So considering that Earnie or Bellamy can play on the right of the front 3, Bale or Bellamy can play on the left, the biggest worry is who plays through the middle. Its fair to say the jury is still out on Morison, despite him being a premier league player now. I worry that his touch just isn't good enough for international football. Vokes has a decent touch- I'm a big fan of his, but he seems to be permnantly injured these days. Ched Evans is now a 3rd division player, and Church's career appears to be going backwards at worrying rate. So how about HRK then? He's big, strong, the ball sticks to him and is a handful in the air. Maybe he's the man to play that role? I think it'll suit him more than playing on the wing, where his lack of pace becomes more of a problem.

I honestly don't see what is wrong with a 4-4-2 formation. That is how everyone in Britain is taught how to play. One striker up front never works unless they are world class and if I know that then surely the boss of our national team should know that too. We barely get a shot on goal and he still insists on using that damn formation. Does anyone know how many shots we had on the Australian goal in the last game? Because we had bugger all in the first half.

What I couldn't work out during the Oz game was why play Earnie up front when we have our first choice midfield out (well almost). Surely you want a lump up there that the likes of Bellamy, Bale and Ramsey can play off.
One thing that is also apparent, they need to start looking for shots as soon as they get into the last 3rd of the pitch.

HRK is not even as good as Morison- yet.
Hes a young lad and in no position to be a lone striker for us. There was enough evidence in the Italy away under 21 games that he could be a decent player when he grows up and learns how to use his body. At the moment he is ungainly, gangley and whilst the ball does, incredibly, stick to him its less in the style of Messi and more in the style of one of those kids you play against in school who never loses the ball in a tackle but never has it under control either with the ball always a yard or two ahead of them.
So god help us if he is the answer to our problems. I agree with George that 4-4-2 might be worth a try, if only so that we have more players forward. It was noticable whilst watching Man United today that they always have a number of players up around the penalty area. When do we ever commit that many men forward? There is very little close support the further up the pitch we go.
And to reference Stu's point ever since Tosh's reign players very rarely shoot from distance. It took us until just after half time to have our first shot! Not even a punt from distance in the first half. I could understand if we played like Arsenal and were better with the ball in the area but we cant even get the ball in the fucking area most of the time! So why not shoot from distance and at least maybe win a corner and put some pressure on?
And thats another point, is there any other team in the world game that makes such a fucking meal of getting the ball into the penalty area? I doubt even pot 5/6 sides with an nth of our player ability have such difficulty getting the ball in the area and creating a shot on goal. this is another bad habit that has crept in from the start of the Tosh era and seems to be symptomatic of us over-playing in the final third all the time. If we made less passes, maybe we would create more chances?

Playing a young bit-part Championship winger as our lone striker would be an act of madness.
His current role must be as understudy to Bale/Bellamy (who else are we going to play out wide if these guys are injured?)
Currently, Morison is a starter in the Premiership. He's a big lump who can score goals. He's clearly our best option in that position right now.

Having a great game so far against Man U. Can he keep it up?
Does anyone know if he went somewhere to build his upper body strength during the summer. He looks a lot stronger this season.

Stronger and quicker fairplay to him he has impressed me this season, good option for Wales seems to chip in with the odd goal think he has 4-5 to his name this season now

Hopefully Robson-Kanu can get a few more goals for Reading ahead of the Austria match in February. Was a great goal yesterday and hopefully he can get a few like that for Wales.

Decent finish vs ManUre. He's doing better in the EPL than many thought he would and I hope he can keep it going.
I don't know if we'll see Bellamy again for Wales ( hope so) but if he and Bale are available, maybe HRK could play through the centre? I suggested this before- he's big, strong, holds the ball up pretty well, wins headers... and he's scored more goals this season than Morison, Church or Vokes. Crazy idea?

I mentioned this in another thread. Could ge play the central striker role leaving Bale and Bellamy for the flanks?

Not for me, I don't think he quite merits a place in the team just yet, but could be something to consdier in the future. A lone striker is a hard role to play so would ideally need to be playing up front at club level.
Also, Bellamy frightens defenders with his pace which means they sometimes sit deep, this allows Bale a lot more space to weave his magic

I thought HRK was exellent on friday (as they all were mind), I would like to see a similar set up tomorrow but Cookie is a shrewd bunny and will devise something that gives us a chance. i suspect a very counter attacking team?

Let's not worry about defining who stands where. Why can't HRK pop-up on the left one minute and then be in the box for a cross the next?
With ball players like Bale, Ramsey, Joniesta, Allen and Collision, why force players to take up residency in one area only. With two desciplined midfielders in front of the back four, give the front players a bit of personal freedom i say...

when Reading go down? Has he done enough to earn a move to stay in the top flight? Maybe Cardiff? ...or Swansea? Mackay’s fate could be determined by how he spends the £25 million at his disposal. He has already been linked with Wayne Bridge, while Telegraph Sport has learnt he is also monitoring Reading pair Hal Robson-Kanu and Alex Pearce. Wales striker Robson-Kanu is about to enter the final year of his contract was flattered to be linked with the Premier League newcomers. Robson-Kanu, who is also being tracked by Swansea, said: “I know I’ve got the quality for the Premier League. I’ve proved that at international level as well as in the Premier League. “It’s flattering being linked to teams like Cardiff, especially being Welsh. However, at this moment in time, I’m a Reading player.” www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/cardiff-city/10002060/Cardiff-City-aim-to-follow-in-Swansea-Citys-footsteps-in-Premier-League-and-sign-12-Michus-following-promotion.html

Well, he definitely is up for it.
Honestly, I would be stunned if an epl team wanted him as anything more than a fourth choice striker. As always, would loved to be proven wrong!
