He's more proven in the EPL than Gestede, Mason or Velikonja. Can't see Helguson hanging around much longer either

Maybe Cardiff? ...or Swansea? I'd have him down here. Still, if he goes to Cardiff, he'll still be a Premier League player, that's what matters. He was brilliant against Scotland then Croatia until he was replaced.

Just scored a pen for Reading - his 6th in the EPL this season I think... not bad...
I reckon Cardiff should go for him.

HRK is defo good enough to stay in the premier league for a team between 8th-17th, I think he'll be a great player for us in the forthcoming years - unlike some on here.

he'd be a relatively cheap gamble, ive been impressed with him lately, scoring, playing well and showing some responsibility taking the pen yesterday

He's done enough for Reading and Wales since Xmas to justify another bash at the EPL. Cardiff seem to be cropping up a lot as a possible destination. Maybe a Fulham or Southampton would come in for him. No top 10 team though will be interested. Though Swansea will need numbers for the Europa League

I think this guy is far too under rated by Welsh fans. He is not in the same league as Bale and Ramsey, is not the perfect winger or striker, but he is pretty handy at most things. He also has a great engine and good physicality. 7 goals for Reading is a great achievement, especially given he played quite a few games from the bench. I also think he has made a decent impact for Wales - certainly a better one than our defenders. Has even been suggested as a player for Arsenal. hereisthecity.com/2013/05/05/could-winger-released-by-arsenal-solve-their-wide-issues/God can you imagine how those Gunners fans would treat him! Obviously he is not that good, but it seems inevitable he stays in the premier league this year. We should be happy we have someone like him who offers something a little different from most of the other midfielders we have.

Im a big fan of HRK he is our most improved player imo and deserves his place in our front 3!

He has indeed been underrated by some people on here. He's a big player for us and will be for a while.

His strength and touch are both very impressive. If he had more pace he'd be a really top player. I first saw him play for the U21s about three years back and described him as a cross between Ashley Young and James Milner. Those players are at champions league clubs...maybe HRK will get there eventually too? I'd say if he really dedicates himself to improving it's possible.

Hal Robson-Kanu @robsonkanu "#HardWorkDedication Earned the no.9 shirt @readingfc Cannot wait for the season.. Biggest year of my career to date " So he'll be number 9 for Reading this season, hopefully he'll fire the goals in for club and country.

Let's hope so. I've always preferred him up top anyway, I think his strength is wasted out wide, he really is like an Ox

Agreed great news. And I think with his professionalism I think he cares about what fans think and would check a forum like this.
Good luck I reckon he can get at least 20 goals injury free! at least 5 headers

Yeah his attitude towards wales is first class. He's always posting patriotic status' on twitter etc. that's what I like to see, someone who wants the team to do well, not turns up now and again because they "have to".

I've always like Kanu's desire. He's not the most gifted as a wide player but he's very strong and imho has enough pace to play the number 9 role to good effect. We are desperate for a striker and he would fit the bill for me. As stated above his Twitter posts are always positive regarding Wales and his attitude on the pitch is first class. He could be the missing link we so desperately need...

Hope he take this opportunity, it's been a long time coming to be fair. I still don't rate him massively but I hope I'm wrong!

With vokes being injured! it's very important that Kanu really steps up in September and October because if for example Bale pulls out brought injury, we will need goals from other positions. Easter couldn't hit a barn door and Church gives 100% but is really lacking in quality.

It would be great if Welsh players knew about this board - perhaps if you guys are Twitter friends with the players then let them know there is a Welsh football forum with everybody here posting fantastic comments about the Wales International team - they would be impressed i'm sure - and who knows it just might throw in an extra motivation to want to qualify (hope they are motivated anyway)

Some quite negative stuff can be posted on here after games, not to mention all the gossip, speculation, criticism of the management, etc.. The Wales players (men and women) get plenty of postive feedback from Welsh fans on Twitter anyway.

Nigel Adkins has previously shown his knack of developing and improving football clubs so I think it's a huge compliment if he believes Robson-Kanu is fit enough to wear the number 9 shirt that's been left behind by Adam le Fondre.
He's certainly got an eye for the goal, he scored 7 times in 25 appearances (12 off the bench) in the Premier League's 2012-13 season. I'm pretty sure he was a winger most of the time if not all of the time too.
It's interesting to note that Brendan Rodgers was the man that convinced him to join the Reading academy where he mostly played as a striker. And it was also Rodgers that gave him his competitive debut for Reading.
Pob lwc Hal.

Lord knows we need a striker to replace Vokesy till next year by the sounds of it. Church is struggling to get a game (or a goal) in the Championship, Hal has got the chance to nail a place in the side up front for us. Hope he takes it.

Great to see Adkins give him the chance to be Reading's top man. He has all the qualities to be a proven number 9.

Robson-Kanu - the Welsh Cascarino?
By that I don't mean he isn't actually eligable for Wales!(well, I hope he is anyway...Gran from Caerphilly isn't it?)
It's just, I was reading that Reading fans aren't sure about him. And I almost don't blame them - his club record is nothing to write home about.
But for Wales he's already a cult hero! (despite not being particularly Welsh)...there are what? 3, 4 Robson- Kanu chants? The Welsh crowds love him.
Cascarino had similar issues for large parts of his career - not particularly liked at Chelsea, Celtic etc, loved by the Irish.
Hope HRK goes on to play in a few tournaments like Cascarino did.

Good point. He took a while to find his feet, and position, for Wales but since he did he's a first choice. He earned some under 21 caps as well so he chose to play for us some time ago and didn't just waltz into the full squad when it suited him. There's a lot to be said for that. As we've commented on the podcast, he seems to really enjoy playing for us; almost childlike levels of enthusiasm

I once heard that it was Flynn who spoke with HRK and brought him into the fold.
There are probably very few who show, as much as HRK, Joniesta & George Williams do, the fact that place of birth is not the be all and end all when it comes to commitment to the cause.
After the Bosnia game, HRK and Joniesta were amongst a small handful that signed autographs for kids before getting on the team bus.
On a football side, I love HRK's ability to bring down & control the most difficult of balls.
And what a memorable goal (and picture) from Hampden a couple of years ago!

I feel bad for him- obvioudky loves playing for Wales, great attitude (take note Collins), hes just sadly not got what it takes to be a nailed on starter for us for the forseeable.
I am totally grateful for his effort and commitment its just that it wont take a lot for another player to emerge and take his place without much of a fight.

I actually thought he had a good season when he last played in the Premiership and felt that he may transfer to another Premiership club. He hasn't progressed like I feel he should've YET. Still time though
