Really untroubled today but did what he had to do efficiently. A 5:0 win for Rennes and up to 6th in Ligue 1. Has to building up fitness and confidence.

It hasn't started well. The commentator on the feed I was watching mentioned that a couple of times, including how he's come in for criticism. You can also see that in the comments on the starting lineup announcement on twitter where it's his position that gets questioned. Obviously there was that howler, but the main criticisms seem to be about him not being good enough on the ball. However, he got some praise after today's game and I think we're all confident he's good enough for a decent Ligue 1 side. He's obviously firmly within the manager's plans, who I suspect thinks his physical attributes complements those of Theate, the Belgian centre back. So his place looks secure, and I'm sure he'll start to gain more confidence, be a bit more progressive on the ball and put in the type of displays we know he's capable of.

He needs to play regularly to improve his positioning and passing. His passing will never be his strength but will get better and more importantly there is no better teacher for positioning than experience!
Its great he is at a club that will play him regularly and so far they are doing well !

Continues to find his feet. Only saw parts of the game against Marseilles today, but he made several blocks and headers in that period. Commentator mentioned he was a man of the match contender, and judging by Twitter / Google Translate, he's getting a lot of praise from Rennes fans!

Decent result today. One all draw away to Marseille. That's 5 full unbeaten games he's played in September now.

Another solid performance and a point away against a top-quality side for Rennes. Lots of bad news this weekend ahead of the Nations League, but some positivity in Joe's resurgence surely.

Don't want to raise any alarm bells, but did see him feeling his thigh and limping a bit in the last 5-10mins. Also seen some references to a potential thigh injury

Also seen some references to a potential thigh injury Well you have raised alarm bells, especially with the lack of information coming out at the mo. Surely they can give an update now as the main part of the funeral is over.

Scrap that, just had a look and it’s still going on so I doubt we’ll get an update on the squad until late tonight or tomorrow.

Rennes are looking a very exciting proposition atm. Unfortunately, Joe sent off in the 88th minute, probably just about justified but slightly unlucky and a last gasp attempt to keep the clean sheet, which he achieved. If I were Rennes manager, I would be still thoroughly pleased with our Joe's performance.

Not sure his manager will be happy then if it means a 3 game ban.

Not sure his manager will be happy then if it means a 3 game ban. I think it was interpreted as a professional foul rather than dangerous play so should only be 1 game I think.

Career seems to have stalled at Rennes. Been on the bench since the World Cup and only came on in a cup game in the 91st minute.
Rennes were down to 9 men one of which was a centre back.

Think he'd benefit from a Championship loan, possibly back to Swansea?

Grand scheme of things he's played very little club football for his age. Not surpassed 100 senior domestic appearances yet.
Compare him to similar age of James, Wilson and Mepham. He's probably missed out the equivalent of two seasons worth of football compared to them.
Needs to move backwards to go forwards. He's got Celtic or Rangers on loan next written all over him.

He has been the biggest disappointment of our significant players over the past 2-3 years
Look at how many knock backs Mepham had but he kept coming back strong. I am not suggesting he is perfect but he is a fighter.
Rodon almost seems to be cursing himself when playing, particularly when he makes a mistake. He needs to lighten up and believe in himself. Championship may be his level - I would never have said that before this season but if he can't even get in a Rennes team in his mid twenties then how is he going to go to the next level? Obviously staying at Swansea would have been better for him in hindsight but that is never gonna happen when a big club comes in for you.
He can still be a key player for Wales of course as long as he does not regress but I prefer Mepham and Ampadu to him and so he would only play if they are injured or Ampadu does not play midfield. They are better footballers technically / positionally and more composed (especially Ampadu) than him

He has 104 senior appearances at club level so he has made 100 (just!), but it's an interesting point you make Ben Cabango now has 145, and is 3 years younger. Ethan Ampadu also 3 years younger and on 104 apps (mad that despite this he has 40 caps!). Chris Mepham the same age but has 144 appearances. Tom Lockyer 3 years older but has 402 appearances to his name now Surprisingly when looking at those numbers, Cabango is the one who has had the most senior minutes for his age, and I wonder whether in the long run he will move up the pecking order because of this - he impressed me against Poland!

Wow, those figures are surprising for Rodon, I could swear he'd been playing for quite a few seasons for Swansea, but looks like he didn't. Looked a top prospect a few years ago, not sure what happened. And to think that some people rated him better than Ashley! Should resign for Swansea. And regarding his attitude, he's always been a moaner, that's just him.

Starts in a back 3 for Rennes tonight against PSG.
Up against a couple of ageing strikers apparently ( Neymar and Messi ?) so should be fine.
Pob lwc Joe fach.

Just watched the 2nd half, Rennes won 1-0. Barely troubled and comfortable throughout, Rennes deserved the win. Commentators singling out Rodon for praise "he's come into the side in the middle of a back 3 and he's been excellent...reading the danger very well....very solid performance" were comments made right at the end as Rodon intercepted a through ball destined for Neymar

Tuned in for the final 20 minutes, looked pretty good imo. Headed out 4/5 balls in the last 10 minutes, and shepherded Neymar off the ball who could have gone thorugh on goal.
Clean sheet against PSG, nothing to be sniffed at.

Best I've seen him play in a long time - was like watching the Rodon of old. Doing the defensive stuff brilliantly and decent, if unspectacular, on the ball.
