The fixtures have been kind i think - even the double away header in June really as Hungary have to travel to Azerbaijan before they play Wales at home in the 2nd match so would make sense to fly to Hungary from Croatia (team i'm talking about lol!) immediately and prepare for game early instead of flying back to Cardiff and then back out to Budapest or wherever the game is played.

The home fixtures aren't that kind if you're travelling from the north, or with kids. Just Slovakia at home is a reasonable kick off time. Croatia at home (7:45pm kick off on a Sunday) is a particular stinker when there's the whole of that day available to them. Does the FAW have any power to request a change in kick off times?

I'm pretty sure that UEFA have sole control of times and dates for all fixtures. The only requests would be for dates a country can't play at home, that would have to be requested BEFORE the draw.

With kick offs like Croatia then I have an inkling my usual Airbnb host in Canton is going to see my face quite often!

No point in playing group E matches or any of the other groups for that matter. If you read the English press they've already won Euro 2020.

Next joke please! It was hot in Belgrade in June I will tell you that for nothing! Playing Croatia at 3pm local time is probably the worst time to play them. What was it like in Tblisi in October, we there early Oct, can remember 34 degress and outdoor swimming pool in early Sept. Think you were there first week of September.
I arrived to Georgia around 16 or 17 September and it was scorching 40c.
Only turned rainy / colder 1 or 2 October. It actually warmed up again the day I flew out, 8 October to 25c
We Love Georgia ;-)

My mum, my friend and a barmaid from an old local all have Tbilisi fridge magnets now. 3 for 5 Lari (which often procured a bottle of Argo.)
Whilst it's not excessively fun to revisit for a second time, I would honestly welcome Georgia away again. What a special trip that was.

Didn't have huge amount of time because of work commitments but trying to add in some more time this time. Maybe somewhere to take 2 weeks and explore along with Armenia in the summer.

Georgia is aso great - worth the trek up to Kazbegi or the trip out east to Signagi (literally looks like Tuscany, but is within sight of Russia. Amazing).

One absolute MUST do flight is from Kutaisi to Mestia (30 kari / 40mis) and then a slightly longer flight with a courtesy onward bus connection to downtown Tbilisi from Mestia to Tbilisi (think it was 55 lari)
Totally breathtaking ;-)
Text me in June and I'll explain fully!

I know I'm getting ahead of myself here but I thought I'd go through the format again. Its a bit worse than I originally thought. When they do the draw in December they'll still have 4 play offs to go through.
If you get drawn into one of those 4 groups, containing a play off place where one of the teams in that play off is a host nation, it becomes an arse for everyone. They have to another draw to determine where and when you'll be playing each fixture. That 2nd draw wont take place until the 1st April ( its not a fool ) You'll know what 2 cities your playing in but you know when your playing there.
Teams that could be in the play offs. Scotland, Denmark, Russia, ROI, maybe The Netherlands
I would think England, Germany, Spain, Italy will qualify directly
Azerbaijan wont qualify and Hungary and Romania are unlikely to get into a play offs
On the plus side, host nations will play home games at home although they may have to travel for one game where 2 host nations share a group. So going from Britain we'll pretty much have the airports and planes to ourselves. England and Scotland will play at home and one will travel for one game. So will Ireland bar for a possible trip to northern Spain. Should ease accommodation demands too.

Imagine how easy it would have been though had they given games to Cardiff, and we do qualify. Cardiff would have been buzzing the most it ever has for an event day. Wales at home kicking off their Euro2020 finals campaign, would've been unreal. Even then people probably would've said 'f'cking egg ground' though no doubt If we qualify we are gonna end up in the London / Glasgow group I just know it. Group D - England, Scotland, Wales & NI .

Sorry, sod the trips, if you want a trip go on holiday. Playing a tournament finals match in our own country would've been a special occasion, something given the size of our country's population and therefore amount of cities/suitable venues is unlikely to ever happen. It really annoys me how they gave extra games to England. If Sweden had got them I could've accepted that.

Anyone else think this won’t seem like a tournament? We have qualifying matches for everyone to play across the continent, finals should be all the successful nations descending on one or 2 countries to soak up the atmosphere and meet other fans in the same situation.

I think you have a point there. Your unlikely to meet and mingle with fans who are not in your group.

Exactly, it's almost like the Euros isn't happening this time round. Like you say it's not much different for travelling for a qualifier. I'm not particularly inspired by their choice of finals venues outside of this either, France and Germany are pretty hum-drum given they had already hosted tournaments in the recent past, I'd prefer to see more off the beaten track places given a chance to host a finals like Poland-Ukraine. With the expanded format you could do a Baltics Euros or a Balkans Euros. Mind you it seems UEFA have been having issues recently getting countries to bid for hosting the Euros at all which is partly why they have chosen this ridiculous distributed finals format for 2020 so perhaps decrying the choice of venue for 2024 is being somewhat picky.

I think it will feel more like a Champions League than proper tournament football, which is disappointing as tournament football is unique and special. I hope this is the last time UEFA decide to do something like this. I just think if the idea is to give games to countries who would never be able to host a full tournament, why have England, Germany, Italy, Russia and Spain been given games at the expense of Wales, Sweden and Israel?

Actually its never been held in Italy or Spain and not in Germany since 1988. As a single country I'd love Spain to host it. The Balkans would be great but the stadium and infrastructure are just not there to support it.

Done a bit of research and found it had been held in Spain in 1964 when a 4 team competition was won by the hosts who beat the Soviet Union in the final.
Did remember it had been held in Italy in 1980 when it was expanded from 4 to 8 teams and the first time you could really call it a tournament I suppose when West Germany beat Belgium in the final.

Euro 2024 in Germany when many of our young players will be coming into their prime with Bale (34) and Ramsey (33) potentially still able to play a part
Yes please!

I should have clarified that I was referring to Germany and France hosting a World Cup, so both countries have hosted 2 tournaments in the past 20 years which seems too much. The Euros should give preference to a bid that is NOT from a recent World Cup host, for the sake of variety, but there was no way on Earth they were going to give the next Euros to Turkey.
