With the game being after the Azerbaijan game and early in the season I can’t see this game being with a full strength side.
We’ll probably use this fixture to experiment but If they played the game in Wrexham again they would be under pressure to put a stronger side out.
I realise the hardcore North Wales fans realise the need to experiment and use fringe players in friendlies and deserve more games in North Wales but the games in Wrexham will also attract the ‘I took my 9 year old boy and he wanted to see Bale’ type.

None of these are valid reasons to play the game in Cardiff. This decision simply cannot be defended. Horrendous move. Even with a fringe team, there'd be a higher attendance in Wrexham. I'd have probably gone if it was in Swansea too but I refuse to go to this match out of principle.

To be clear, I wasn’t saying that they should play in Cardiff to avoid the pressure of putting out a full side, I was commenting on the fact that it is likely to be a scratch side and the fact that it isn’t In Wrexham will mean that there will be less comment about it being a scratch side. I agree it should be in Wrexham and agree it will probably have a bigger attendance

Good luck to them getting a crowd for Belarus!
Regardless of date change, I won't be taking time off work for a 400 mile round trip on the Friday and then doing the same again on a Monday for a friendly.
It's the first/second week back at school for kids... parents unlikely to take them out in the first week after the hols, let alone twice - and the second one being a friendly with a probable weaker side.
I'd go if the match was at Wrexham.

A side note, but if we assume that our strongest lineup is the team we fielded against Slovakia but with Ramsey in for Wilson, then a possible full strength “B” team we could field against Belarus could look like this.
Ward Gunter-Williams-Chester-Dummett Vaulks-Ampadu Wilson-Woodburn-Lawrence T.Roberts
Which is actually far from weak. It’s a shame that it’s in Cardiff as I don’t see much interest, especially after a qualifier. Should have been in Wrexham or Swansea in my opinion.

I would however be looking to get Dummett into to starting line up. He's by far our best performing defender currently.

Maybe Wrexham couldn't guarantee the stadium on that date. As they have no Welsh players they would not be able to call off their game which might be at home. Time to give out tickets to the schools as much as I hate that atmosphere There was no game that mid week last season in any division, the only thing on was the EFL Trophy (3 ties) - not that Wrexham will be in that next season now anyway.

VISIT BELARUS VISA-FREE from 10 June to 10 July
Just in case anyone out there facies a visit after our Budapest game ... Normally, Belarus is only visa-free is flying into Minsk. However, due to the second European Games taking place in Minsk between 21 to 30 June 2019, there is a special Visa-free 30 day window even for people arriving over-land. You must have at least one ticket for an event (from €3). Vilnius is a mere two hours away...

Just a follow-up on my previous post... Well, just spent a week in Belarus. Five wonderful days in Minsk and now heading into the countryside for the second week. It's a crying shame that the FAW haven't taken the Red Wall to Minsk. What a truly stunning city!
Anyway. Just in case we do get a return leg... You can expect a post the size of my Hong Kong post for it :+)

Its obvious why its in Cardiff, its because everything will have already been set up there for the previous Friday and it saves the FAW lugging everything up north.
That said, no chance will I be there for the friendly. The attendance will be interesting.

Please forgive my indulgence, but I'm about to leave Minsk tomorrow and yesterday was Independence Day over here. Just in case you wondered how it was celebrated... have a look at this! m.youtube.com/watch?v=qXXWcFJD0gc

Not forgetting the Women's Euro qualifier which is in Newport a couple of days before the men play Azerbaijan. But, hey, Wrexham gets the Under 21s - on the same bloomin night as the men's side play Azer. WTF!

Not sure if we already have a Azerbaijan HOME thread ... but please mods copy and paste there if possible ;-) Especially for chislenko and any other traditional generation fans ... As of last week CARDIFF CITY STADIUM IS CASH-LESS. So all food and bar stands will only accept Contactless / Applepay etc. as payment. So dig up all your old £5 notes from under the floorboards and apply for a plastic card ;-)

Time to start thinking about the lineup for this one. I'm assuming in effect it'll be another 'B' international. With my current knowledge of injuries here's what I'd go for;
Ward
Gunter-Rodon-Mepham-Dummett
Smith-Vaulks
Lawrence-J.Williams-Woodburn
Bale
Some of my logic - I'd start Rodon-Mepham for Azerbaijan & Belarus as I'd like them to develop a partnership and all the chopping and changing at centre half is bad for consistency. Another cap for Gunter towards 100, and one for Dummett as he only has 5 at the moment, this gives Rodon-Mepham some experienced seniors alongside them for stability. I think Smith and Vaulks would benefit from more experience at this level over giving a start to someone like Levitt. I'd be happy to see Levitt come on though. I want to see Joniesta back in action, and I'd start Bale since it's likely that he won't be playing much over the next few months, and it would be good to have an a good finisher on the pitch as this is what we struggled with against Albania.

It's not worth taking a day off work and the extra cost to make this one, especially when we have a big u21 fixture in my hometown the same night. I might've been tempted if it was played in Swansea as it would be something different, but it's a big own goal having this one in Cardiff. I don't think I've ever been less arsed about a Wales fixture.

Prediction : Pressure off after a convincing 3-0 win against the Azeris in the qualifier.
Belarus to be be a sterner test, but still 2-1 to Wales.
Crowd:13,000 -Atmosphere:Good - Having won on the Friday, doubters re-think and turn up again on the Monday.
(That kind of scenario would bode well for the challenges ahead in Oct and Nov).

Probably would have filled the Racecourse. So many wanted this game in Wrexham, but the FAW didn't listen and thought they knew best. There is no way I am taking two trips down to Cardiff within a few days of each other.

I respect and understand why people from up North can not justify attending this. Sadly, if the rumours about 5k are true - that is truly a disgrace for the local South Wallians ;-( I am not talking about the young families with children on a school day - I am talking about the Single Sofa Warriors, who are not going out of principle. Get a life. It is YOUR TEAM. For the Northerners, please show your continued commitment by going to the Racecourse on the TUESDAY for the 7pm KO v GERMANY U21 sa1.seatadvisor.com/sabo/servlets/TicketRequest?presenter=TLWREXHAMAFC&venue=&event=1920FAW2&tck=true
