Been reading on social media a few complaints about the game last night, got be thinking what has been the worst Wales friendlies that I have been to -
Northern Ireland v Wales, Windsor Park February circa. 2007 You haven't truly suffered unless you have been to Windsor Park to watch a nil-nil on a freezing cold night in February. The only highlight of the game was that we got to boo GSTQ.
Wales v Paraguay, MS, St. David's Day 2006 ish Even though it was St. David's Day, OMG it was cold and again another blinding 0-0. The highlight of the game for me was two grown men having a fight because one wouldn't pay up after he took a bet that Craig Bellamy would score.
Wales v Jamaica, Ninian Park, 1998 Back in the day, the FAW didn't have any money so used to pimp itself out to anyone with a few bob and was looking for a game. Jamaica had just qualified for the World Cup and ever person with Jamaican heritage descended on Cardiff. They probably outnumbered us ten to one. In order to entertain our paying guests the FAW even put a nice medley of reggae music at half time.
Wales v Estonia, Parc y Scarlets 2009 An attendance of something like 4000 playing at a Rugby stadium. Nuff said. Although I was able to do my shopping in Morrisons straight after the game.
Wales v Finland 2013 CCS The FAW gave away free tickets for those that had taken out tournaments tickets and were giving out free scarfs and still the stadium was only about a third full. Who would have thought that a year later we would have been playing in front of a sold out crowd with loads of "life long" fans saying that they couldn't get tickets!

Jeez, anyone who thought last nights friendly was bad clearly hasn’t been to many
Maybe the ground wasn’t full of fans who had been travelling down to the south to watch friendlies , especially as many were surprised that Giggs didn’t risk the full team

It’s harder to name the ones that have been any good. In my lifetime I would say Brazil in ‘83, Germany when Earnie scored, the 1-1 draw with Argentina & then Speedo’s last game against Norway.

Iceland 2014 was one game I loved. The atmosphere in the Canton (Ninian was closed) was great and we just brushed a top team aside. Bale's goal was unreal as well.

Bosnia at the Stradey was pretty dire, and that was actually one of our strongest teams at the time.

There have been plenty worse competitive games let alone friendlies. Not going to list them, you know the ones.

The highlight of the game for me was two grown men having a fight because one wouldn't pay up after he took a bet that Craig Bellamy would score.! The stadium announcer that day was hilarious. Not only did he get quite a few of the players names wrong (some of the Paraguayans and Nyatanga), but also mispronounced Norwich and Gillingham when saying the clubs the Wales players played for! Shouted out "Ryan Giggs" though, like he was the only player the guy had heard of! Says a lot about the game when that's all I can remember from it

Didn’t we put in a dire performance in against Georgia about 10 years back? If I remember properly we lost 2-1 at home. Remember watching the highlights and the commentators were saying the Russian invasion made them motivated to win. We did used to love scraping the barrel for excuses.

Goalless draw with Ireland in Arms park Nov 97.. pissed down, got soaked. We created nothing and Mark Crossley made a few great saves to get the draw. Also friendly defeat to Cyprus 2007. Would have been 6 or 7 nil if not for the keeper that day. Embarrasing

I can tell you the date on this one, it was on August 20th I know this because it was the first home match I’d missed in 25 years. It was my daughters birthday and decided to give it a miss as it was a friendly Watched it at home and didn’t regret missing it at all and it made me realise that it wouldn’t be a disaster if I missed the odd friendly here and there.

Lewis Price kept the score down.one of the Worst Welsh performance ever. And that's saying something

I was at While Hart Lane and that Brazil one was a good game from what I can remember too. We certainly weren't steamrolled and carved out quite a few chances for ourselves.

I think White Hart Lane v Brazil was the last friendly I went to before Wednesday night. Took the attitude under Tosh that if the players couldn't be bothered turning up then why should I :-)
I remember the FAW giving free tickets to TT holders for the Iceland match. I still didn't bother travelling down to Cardiff. And of course Bale scored that absolute corker.
Great to be back at Wrexham the other night though. I'd definitely go to more/all friendlies there.

I just looked it up and realised that the Nations Cup in Ireland was 8 years ago! Christ...
Iceland and Norway were good friendlies
Panama wasn't great, my only memories of that game are Vokes' penalty and Woodburn squaring up to their full back

Panama was a much better spectacle than the other night. We should have won comfortably and Lawrence's goal was pretty special.
Another enjoyable one was the game against The Netherlands when Give me Hope Joe Allen missed a penalty and Aint Nobody like Joe Ledley buried the follow up.
Also notable for squad bard Owain Fon Williams getting his one cap. Halcyon days.

Did they really put reggae music on? That's hilarious, what the hell! These girls walked by me at half-time in the broadest Souff London accent chuckling that they have put some "Bob" on at half time. I remember it because it took me ages to work out what "Bob on at half time" actually was. Finally I realised that they were talking about Bob Marley! I guess that it is no different to when we go away to some Eastern European countries and the cash strapped locals roll the red carpets out for us. I forgot about Bale's goal against Finland, so maybe it wasn't so bad after all. I had a spare (free) ticket for the game and couldn't give it away to any of my Welsh mates. Eventually gave it to my (Irish) brother-in-law, who thought that 'it was grand', took out a tournament ticket for the next campaign and hasn't missed a Wales game at the CCS since.
