Think all our home friendlies (ones coming up not forever) should be in MS, as, unless we get the Copenhagen group, all the stadiums will be massive and players (especially championship players) will need the experience of playing in a full house in a 70,000 seater. Absolutely no need at all. We won't be filling the CCS for any friendlies so why play in a half empty principality stadium? The Spain friendly only got 50k. A lot of other countries play in smaller stadiums - Denmark, Croatia, Switzerland, Finland, Iceland, Bosnia, Serbia, Czech Republic for example. There is absolutely no requirement for us to have a bigger stadium than the CCS.

As experience to play in the EUROs - I think playing in front of 40k-50k (with cheap tickets) in a massive stadium would be great warm up for the players. Can still get a friendly in CCS and like i say the original post I'd only advocate it for these games in March/ June.
I much prefer CSS and smaller grounds across Wales - but can certainly see why they'd opt for MS here.

We did open the Principality for a big friendly against Spain. Zero atmosphere. Kids on their phones. People chit chatting away through the entire match. It was dire.
We tried it, didn't work, time to draw a line under it and move on.
Let's not forget we couldn't even sell out the CCS for friendlies pre Euros, so let's get back down to planet earth and play friendlies at appropriate venues - CCS, Liberty or Wrexham.

One of my first experiences of football was being one of those Kids chit chatting away when in primary school in the Hughes era - go home and away now. tickets used to be around £5 and they would be near full.
Spain game was mid week also.

But if it's not against a top, glamorous nation and/or not on the weekend, we shouldn't bother. I'd definitely give Wrexham another go when we have a few weeks prep before the euros when the travelling / change of base won't detract too much from the prep. I wouldn't play there in March though when the international window only lasts a few days

Wales as a nation will come out in force when we successful and WFU have marketed it well for a rugby prospective.

Make it an away game if giving some of the players experience of a 60k+ stadium is that important.

We just qualified! If on a Friday night, Saturday or Sunday it will be pushing a sell out.

Look ar the plain facts, we didnt even sell out every game this campaign. Our pre-Euro NI friendly hardly scraped 20k. The selling outs of the Millennium happened nearly 20 years ago, times have changed, and historically, there just isnt a call for Welsh football to need a 70k stadium. Plus, and I didnt want to bring rugby into this, but Id rather we helped the pockets of Welsh football clubs rather than the government funded coffers of the bloody WRU.

First home game I'll miss since around 2004, apart from the one at White Hart Lane. PS is shite.

My father always tells me it felt like that, Brazilians allowed to stand while the scummy Spurs stewards were treating us welsh fans differently.

Only way we'd get a full house at the Millennium is if we faced England, Argentina or Brazil, and those last 2 would have to be on the weekend. All of those aren't going to happen so we shouldn't be inviting the idea.

Three/four easy games before the euros would be my choice. Go into the tournament full of confidence. One thing we haven't done under Giggs is win against a top team. Something we had done under Coleman which instilled a lot of belief in the players and fans prior to Euro 2016. Assuming we have 5 friendlies, I'd like to see 2 against weaker opposition, 1 against evenly matched opposition, and then 2 against top tier sides. I think this gives us the option of testing fringe players in two games, having a mix of our 1st XI and backup players, and then a full first XI against the top teams with an eye on trying to beat one before the tournament. E.g European countries; Estonia Armenia Czech Republic Netherlands Germany I certainly like every one of your five picks ;-) If Estonia say no, can we have Malta, please ;-)

Is there also a date for an away fixture in March? It’s an international weekend isn’t it so I’d guess maybe the Mon or Tues? Annoying for fans that they couldn’t organise one for the sat or sun.

Slightly disappointed in the opponents. Would be nice if we had two home games, this in the CCS and maybe another against a lesser side in Wrexham.

Sensible opponent, a test against a team which will be similar level to us and borders Switzerland (most of their team play in Germany like Autria) and italy

The crowd for Wales 1 northern Ireland 1 on THURSDAY 24 March 2016 was 21,855
With similar pricing the FAW would expect at least this number to attend.

I'd call it a more attractive fixture than Austria, who we've played fairly recently. 20k max, so about 3k more than half full. Still not enough to justify having it there. Swansea holds about that number. As it's year end, there's no chance of me making it if it's Cardiff so I'm hoping it's up here.
