Yep
McGuire hit the best cross of the night.
Unfortunately it was hit right onto the forehead of Voeller. Belgium of course obliged Germany by duly losing their home game versus the Germans!
Maybe the lack of professionalism cost us in these key play off matches? In the early 80s it was annoying watching teams no better than us like Northern and Republic of Ireland and in the early 90s teams like Scotland making tournaments.
So many poor individual errors cost us in crunch games or games we should have easily won:
McGuire mistake versus Germany Philips handball versus Scotland Southall mistake versus Iceland away (same tournament as above), which led to a costly 1-0 defeat Southall mistake versus Yugoslavia with 8 mins to go at home Southall mistake versus Hadji and Romania, followed by Bodin's penalty miss No one turns up versus Russia at home.
That was the difference between us and Scotland, Republic or Ireland and even North Ireland - they held their nerve and did not make stupid mistakes.
Thankfully our new breed of players appear to be mentally stronger, albeit their attitude in that shambles versus Denmark where after they conceded the second they decided to blame the ref and stop playing was extremely hard to take from a fans' perspective

We have never beaten the Dutch or Poles so this gives us a great opportunity to do that!
The only other 'notable' existing teams we have never beat are Argentina, Croatia and Serbia, I believe. We should have beaten Serbia though!

Not quite at the same level of iconic blunder as Bodin’s penalty, but still a stand out moment that you can put alongside those other key moments and point to as evidence that once again, it just wasn’t meant to be.

Surviving relegation will be incredibly important, not only for the Euro qualifier seedings but also for the next Nations League. All 10 South American nations are planning to join the Nations League in 2024. Wales vs Brazil, Argentina anyone?

I am so doing the Poland away trip. I've already lived there before in Lodz and speak the language so this is the perfect excuse to go. Wales fans will love it there. View AttachmentJudging by the bus firm that will take Wales fans from the airport, they don't seem very friendly.... I was a bit confused with that picture until I saw Contbus.

We should have beaten Serbia though! I don't know how I remember this because it was before I was born but Wales have beaten Poland before. 2-0 in the 74 World Cup Qualifiers. Here are the highlights. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yh309ZD7Xpc&ab_channel=ReprezentacjaPolski%5BPolandNationalTeam%5D

Thanks. I'd forgotten about that. Bit embarrassing as my mum's parents were Polish. They had a great team in the 70s and early 80s but seem to have struggled since.

So we are nearing the 120 day deadline to notify UEFA of the stadia for June, Netherlands and Poland have announced the locations for their games and still nothing from the FAW.
They were very quick to state CCS for the play offs and get this onto the fixture section of the FAW website.
The Nations League games are all shown as TBC for the location, other than the game in Rotterdam.
I get the feeling not all of the 3 home games are going to be at the CCS.
Maybe we should play the Dutch in Swansea as LVG has a 100% lose rate there!

Yeah but no conflicts with the dates of the home games in June.
Stereophonics are playing the week after the Belgium game.
Maybe they are waiting to see what happens in March. If we don't qualify, Gareth's last Wales game could be in June at home.

If we don't qualify, Gareth's last Wales game could be in June at home. They have to give 120 days notice of the stadium they wish to play at, which is within the next 14 days for the Dutch game, so they can’t wait (annoyingly) to see what happens in March. They’ll also have to give notice of the Poland game venue before June’s matches are played.

Pffft, Belgium aren't a big name team for the people they want to open the millennium stadium to. Plus we've played them loads already.
France, Germany, Spain, possibly Holland, those are the teams that will sell tickets in the millennium but even then I wouldn't put money on a sell out.

Belgium is a Friday night which presumably has a big bearing on the decision. I think the Netherlands would be a bigger draw given we've played Belgium 48 times in the last decade, but a Monday night at the Millennium would be daft.
Tickets will have to be a lot cheaper for a decent crowd IMO or we risk ~40k and a half empty stadium. Belgium might bring a few thousand I guess, which would be fun.

If we played Belgium in the Cardiff City Stadium for the crucial final World Cup qualifier game, I can’t see them going to the Millennium stadium for a Nations League game.
Unless, of course as someone pointed out earlier, they’ve pencilled it in as a potential last ever Gareth Bale game.
Even if that is the case, it will be a a shame for Bales last game not to be in CCS.

If we qualify for Qatar then the crowds for these games could be huge given that most wont be planning to go to the world cup. It may be their only chance of seeing them in a world cup year
