But Mullin crafted and scored chances against Championship opposition this season too. Feel as though there's an agenda against him here as stuff like that is getting conveniently ignored. Mark Harris was very average at this level, but granted he was a tad younger. Unfortunately it's a very small sample size to go off (3 Cup games). He just needs to be playing at a higher level week in and out. Was surprised to see Cullen and Ched Evans 2nd and 3rd respectively for goals per 90 in the championship. That what he is competing against. I'm assuming your take is that unless he plays in the Championship, he shouldn't get a look in. My take on that is that it's a narrow minded approach.

But if you have players playing regularly 3 or 4 divisions higher then you aren't really going to get much of a look in. Im fine with him getting a call up and being looked at, especially if its for a friendly as there would be no real loss in doing so. I think people need to be a bit more realistic about the level he is playing at, there are still semi professional teams in that league.

Having watched football(and seen strikers of all shapes, sizes and styles) for over sixty years, I'm in the camp that thinks that Paul Mullin would be a menace to any defence, anywhere. He's just the kind of annoying forward - forever foraging, hassling and chasing lost causes - that even the best defenders hate. And he's a superb finisher.
I honestly don't think he'd let us down against Armenia and/or Turkey in June, but I agree it's unlikely that Rob Page will be bold enough to take a punt on him.

Oh come on. Kieffer Moore has a 1 in 3 record at internationals, Tom Bradshaw has 15 goals at a higher level than Mullin's ever played at, Cullen has 8. This is all getting a little silly. I've watched them all play, Mullin's the better finisher. If you disagree then I don't think you've seen enough of Mullin. 8 goals at Championship level, lol. Great argument. You would be going absolutely insane if Kieffer scored the first one that Mullin buried yesterday. 8 goals at a level higher than Mullin's ever played at. It's a far better argument than your assertion that Mullin's more likely to score for Wales than a guy who has scored at an international tournament and has bullied top class defenders! (Moore has scored excellent goals himself by the way) The idea that the level doesn't matter is ridiculous. You get more time the lower you are, especially if you're too good for that level as Mullin clearly is. I think he should get in the squad, but some of the praise is over the top and often disrespectful toward players playing at higher levels including, bizarrely, some fan favourites

With Mullin I can see both sides. My view is he should get a chance to show what he's got - it's not as though our squad is super strong depth wise. Get him in the camp - they should be able to get a good feel for his level in training.

We need to remember that Mullin cannot be selected instead of Harris because Harris didn’t make the last squad when everyone was fit (or Tyler for that matter)
Harris mostly only ever made the extended 26 man squad, not when we named a 23 (or 24 in the case of the last camp)
If we want Mullin in then we need to drop someone like Brennan, Bradshaw or Moore.

Mullin's been finding the net much more often than all of that trio in recent weeks!
Brennan's been off the boil, Kieffer's been mainly on the bench with his club (and wasn't great when he came on against West Ham yesterday)... Bradshaw, in fairness, has been grabbing the odd goal and assist.

His record in the past couple of years is on a par with Jamie Vardy at that level so there's no doubt he wouldn't be successful, even very successful, at a much higher level.
What interests me is that the level of confidence coursing through the Wrexham at the moment is such, that nobody is even considering the likelihood of him moving. If he was younger he'd be premiership bound, as it is I'll be amazed if one or two of the more affluent championship or prem relegated clubs don't test Wrexham's resilience to keep hold of him. Would £ 5 million get him ?
Great talent, shame he's not a couple of years younger, but in my opinion he makes the current welsh squad on absolute merit, regardless of the league he plays in.
Oh and well done to Wrexham, I've no doubt you'll stroll to promotion next year.

However, Wrexham and their owners are obviously working from a totally different model. There's a strong case for purely footballing reasons as to why Mullin would want to stay but there are also a huge number of non footballing reasons. He's a lower league striker with a global following. Why would he throw that away? There are ex premier League players offering to play for nothing to be part of it. I'd be surprised if he didn't stay with Wrexham for the journey and then went to the MLS. His autobiography will be out in time for Christmas I believe.

As for his personal circumstances, he'd need a mighty offer himself to consider the move.

A few points;
1) Age - For me I'm not particularly bothered about age if you have something to offer the squad in the here and now. Mullin is clearly a late bloomer, quite ineffective until a few seasons ago when everything seemed to click for him
2) Level - A 32 goal season in League Two is a very likely indication to me that he is at least a decent League One striker. So to me criticising his level for being National League or League Two next season just doesn't feel that valid. As it goes, "there are Premier League players, and there are players who play in the Premier League". For me all that matters is whether he is good enough, and level doesn't always tell you that
3) Ability - To me it's clear as day that he has attributes to transition well to a higher level. Sometimes you see lower league players who are very good at one thing e.g very fast, very good finishers, very good at getting on the end of crosses. Then when they go up a level they get exposed for the deficiencies in their game. What impressed me most about Mullin against the Championship sides was his first touch, energy/pressing, his ability to link play dropping deep, his pace running in behind. When you add all of those things up then you realise he would be very likely to perform well at League One level and above
4) His competition - We shouldn't be comparing him to Brennan, DJ, Broadhead etc... basically any of the wide players. I'm interested to hear what everyone thinks about this, but I'd probably rank him as our joint 3rd best striker available to us. 1st Kieffer, 2nd Bradshaw, 3rd Mullin/Collins (difficult to say who is better because I haven't watch Collins live but he has impressive numbers). I definitely think we should be calling in one of Mullin/Collins as we could do with another option and I want to see how either would fare
5) What we need - I love Mullin's attitude and I think having someone with his mentality would be a boost to our squad. As others have said you'd trust him more than a lot of players if a half chance fell to him. He's got that killer instinct and he seems very motivated to give everything on the pitch. Having someone in the squad who is in the habit of scoring a lot of goals would be a great thing

Whatever anyone thinks about whether he’s good enough or not, the age thing doesn’t bother me either.
*IF* he is good enough, even if he only played from the age of 29 to 31 we’d still have him for at least the rest of this campaign, the Nations League games and the next World Cup qualifiers.

Goals by League level: League 1: 3 in 20 League 2: 69 in 236 Vanarama: 64 in 83 Thats the reality. Who would he get into the squad infront of in the attacking positions (Moore, Johnson, Roberts, James, Cullen, Bradshaw. All playong Prem or Championship football pretty regularly). In fairness plenty of players have taken a few years to come into themselves. I fully expect him to continue scoring goals for Wrexham in League Two next season and add to that tally. My main point is that willingly dropping down 2-3 leagues, when you're in your mid to late 20's to a team that you know is going to create shedloads of chances (and artificially bolster your profile), shouldn't really be considered beneficial for your international prospects. In the late 90s Eifion Williams scored 68 goals in 60 games for Barry Town in the League of Wales, yet no one was seriously suggesting him for international honours, going on to become a decently prolific goalscorer in a very average L2/L1 side without any real investment. I suspect there are more paralels there than one may think. I remember Eifion getting a hat-trick in his football league debut for Torquay, but he didn't really kick on from there iirc. But it's just depressing thinking back to the 90's generally and remembering the wealth of forward options we enjoyed back then. In those days we had quality Championship (and occasional top-flight) strikers like Iwan Roberts and Malcom Allen who could barely get a cap because they had Rush, Hughes, and Saunders all in front of them. Every single one of them Welsh born and bred too. Yes the overall standard is higher now but these days we're almost solely relying on Anglos for forwards and we're now getting excited at the prospect of someone who's spent the season in the 5th tier playing for us. What the hell happened?

I imagine lots of the people calling for Mullins inclusion are the same people that were calling for Doidge to get called up and then calling for Jephcott to get called up.
People like goalscorers but there’s a huge amount more to it than that.
Also a lot of the goals I’ve seen mullin score he never would have had the chance in the first place at a higher level. That curler v boreham wood for example, way too easy for him.

That curler v boreham wood for example, way too easy for him. I didn't call for either Jephcott or Doidge, but am for Mullin being called up btw Ditto I watched those two admittedly in only a few games and they just looked ordinary. They did not really do anything particularly well, let alone several things. With Mullin he always catches the eye. I get he plays against lesser players but he does not have any obvious weaknesses - competes, is aggressive, is always well positioned, closes down well, has skill, can link up play and is always busy. However, his finishing is exceptional - he also hits a large number of worldies - and delivered one in their biggest games, has a wide variety of finishes, is a great decision maker and deadly goalscorer. He even scores headers at angles to the goal where he lobs the ball over the keeper with great power. Look at our other players when they get a chance, with the exception of Johnson - you expect them to miss! Now maybe a Championship keeper saves a third of more of Mullin's goals but they would be very good saves! I am always snobby when it comes to looking at players in the lower leagues, even youngsters and 99.9% of the time, when you see them, you can clearly see they are lower league players if you are honest. However, Mullin really just stands out every time I see him, especially his accuracy and the number of correct decisions he makes. He does not have the pace of Vardy and no one suggests he is a good as him, but look at Vardy - 25 before he played in the Championship and 27 the Premier League. I really hope Mullin gets to play in the Championship one day with Wrexham and it would probably require a miracle but I wish he could somehow do a Moore and even get a season in the Premier League!

Thought I read somewhere he had surgery scheduled during the close season so would not make June games, unless I dreamt it. I also heard he was having knee surgery this summer, and will be rehabilitating over the summer. Expecting him to be in contention for the Gibraltar game at first, at which point he will be a League Two player, and we'll know how he's started the season at that level. If he continues to score at a similar rate I can't see us not giving him a go
