A lot more cabins on the Europa gone on sale this morning. Most grades available but the ones for the group stages seem now to be only available with full board. They seem to value that at an additional $ 150 per person per night. Don't expect to be paying that for lunch and an evening meal. Only got the 2 nights to fill but I think ill give it a miss and hope something more reasonable pops up. Thanks for posting this as I have just booked 5 nights around the England game on the cruse ship.. hopefully alcohol is included in the full board package!

Alright I didn’t think it would, wishful thinking, but still happy with that! We may regret not going for it to be honest. The options for the nights of the 26 and 27 are looking particularly difficult. We're on the the night before and after the England game but wouldn't have minded a few more.

There’s still board options left over the 25-27. I’m sure other things will keep cropping up. I just really fancied a few days of luxury, have 10 days in the portacabins!

I left the cabins too late, and there’s still very little left for the first weekend. I’m travelling alone so starting to stress about options. Anyone booked for those clusters? I’m thinking of just booking 20th to 24th and then 28th to 30th and just hope something else turns up for the weekend.

Based on info the accommodation agency provided you get 1 free (alcoholic/non) drink per meal (Lunch & Dinner) additional drinks can be purchased

Without reading all 21 pages is anyone going to drive from Abu Dhabi or Dubai to Qatar? I was speaking to someone this week who travels to the Middle East on business and drives around. 5 hours AD to Q and 6 from D to Q with very good roads

I think car insurance was a factor at the time along with the lack of bus and mini bus hire. There may be some hardy and perhaps romantic souls that will want to make this World Cup a 'full' experience though a la Euro 2016..!?

Bought some resale tickets yesterday for a non Wales match. FIFA add on a resale fee to the new purchaser. What a con!!

I think originally there were plans for buses from both Dubai and AD but due to the fact you have to drive through Saudi Arabia the insurance and the fact the Saudis could be awkward at the border has meant have most fans settled for the flights.

Thanks guys, what was the issue with insurance? We are going to Doha but thinking of going to AD by hire car after the England Game until the weekend. I would have thought normal hire car I insurance would cover ?

The conclusion appears to be that no car hire company will currently allow their vehicles to be driven to Qatar from Dubai, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi etc. www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowTopic-g294009-i3512-k13879254-Rent_a_car_from_Dubai_to_attend_World_Cup_Quatar-Doha.html

Before I found out the availability and costs of the match day shuttle flights I researched hiring a driver and car to take us from Abu Dhabi, our planned base, to Doha and back through Saudi for the 3 games and I got two responses both saying that they couldn’t offer the service and one said it was due to possible visa issues with their drivers entering Saudi and Qatar as I guess they’d be ex pats from Countries such as India, Pakistan etc.
Then I found that Qatar Airways and Fly Dubai were offering match day shuttle flights so we went down that route, average cost was £200 return per match

Whilst I’m here
As I mentioned we’re staying in Abu Dhabi for 12 days all inclusive in a 5* hotel which Ive been to to a few times previously
I was curious to find out what the cost was for staying in Doha for the duration of the group games and last 16.
Just interested if it was comparable to my accommodation costs taking into account the 3 match day shuttle prices and airport transfers but on the flip side I haven’t got the expense of food and drinks

I'm off to Qatar next month and after watching Wales for 40 years, I'm over exicited. However, I totally support those who don't feel that they can go because of the appaling way that it is illegal to be gay in Qatar. Sadly, Qatar are far away from being the only country in the world which is anti LGBT. At the end of this piece I will list the 68 countries - that means that around 1 in 3 countries in the world are homophobic. Including one of our opponents Iran. Other World Cup participants Cameroon, Morocco, Senegal, Ghana, Saudi Arabia,Tunisia - that's 8 countries in total - 25% of the countries represented are anti LGBT Horrific in 2022. I'd be happy support protests whilst in Qatar to show my solidarity with the LGBT community. The 68 anti-LGBT countriesAfghanistan Algeria Antigua & Barbuda Bangladesh Barbados Bhutan Brunei Burundi Cameroon Chad Comoros Cook Islands Dominica Egypt Eritrea Eswatini Ethiopia Gambia Ghana Grenada Guinea Guyana Iran Jamaica Kenya Kiribati Kuwait Lebanon Liberia Libya Malawi Malaysia Maldives Mauritania Mauritius Morocco Myanmar Namibia Nigeria Occupied Palestinian Territory (Gaza Strip) Oman Pakistan Papua New Guinea Qatar Saint Kitts and Nevis Saint Lucia Saint Vincent and The Grenadines Samoa Saudi Arabia Senegal Sierra Leone Singapore Solomon Islands Somalia South Sudan Sri Lanka Sudan Syria Tanzania Togo Tonga Tunisia Turkmenistan Tuvalu Uganda Uzbekistan Yemen Zambia Zimbabwe

Suprising how many there are but if anyone cares enough they just don't go and give money and support a terrible regime, going and making a thread about it on a forum is a bit hypocritical really isn't it.

Not really. You can still go to the World Cup without agreeing with the government or whatever in the country. Many are going and protesting against the way of living/showing support for LGBTQ etc. Yes, The World Cup should never have been given to Qatar but that was 12 years ago. It’s interesting how many politicians ans celebrities are suddenly speaking out against it now it’s come closer and in the public eye but didn’t say a word 12 years ago when Qatar were awarded it. People can refuse to go on moral grounds if they want to, but the World Cup will just carry on without them and no one will really notice. I don’t think it’s as simple as if you go to the World Cup then you must agree with the countries regime.

Another note, it’s interesting how many people say they are ‘boycotting’ Qatar yet were unlikely to go anyway.
I know people who rarely go to wales away, didn’t go to France 2016 yet ‘would definitely have gone to Qatar but their morals are stopping them’
There’s celebrities on Tv and social media saying that they are not going on moral grounds, yet haven’t been to any of the previous World Cups. That’s some boycott!

It is the laws of the countries concerned and for you to respect whilst you are there just as you would wish visitors to our country to respect our laws.
As previously stated if you feel that strongly about it, don't go.
If you do make the decision to protest just remember you made the decision so you must bear any consequences for your actions.
