I'm a perennial pessimist, but look at his tweets from around the time he was called up. Even retweeting the Michael Sheen clip. mobile.twitter.com/lukeharris2005Everything suggests to me that he wants to play for Cymru.

A ‘best of luck to the boys out in Qatar, looking forward to meeting up with you all for the qualifiers in March’ tweet wouldn’t go amiss Yeah, I was thinking that. I guess social media activity may be a way to see if he's still on board. I imagine he still is, his stuff was so pro Wales that it would be a real surprise for him to do a complete 180. Even Fulham make a point of mentioning Wales on their Twitter page when they talk about Harris Would be nice to get some clarity on this either way mind

I imagine it will be the case of Harris wanting to force his way into the Fulham team. If one of their attackers gets injured at the World Cup he may well be needed on the pitch for them. Probably a better move career-wise than being additional for us, as he knows his opportunity will come for us anyway

I have it on good authority that one of our League 1 players did not want to go as a back-up/non playing player. He was told that he could travel and train but not allowed to be in any photos etc.
His club put a stop to it.
I hope it’s nothing more than that with Harris. He seems passionate about Wales! Positive Tweets etc are a good sign!

He's in the Fulham squad so evidently fit, Fulham aren't playing any football while the world cup is on so no advantage to staying with them 'focusing on his club career' Just a vague statement mentioning unspecified personal reasons is the kind of thing you'd come up with if there is something to hide, not that there necessarily is.I don't think he's played for Cymru at any level since February but the FAW seems to be going out of their way to butter him up, VIP stadium tickets etc, but not playing with the Under-21's. As first reserve and a few players going in struggling with injury he's certainly not just a tea boy, he's a decent chance of being involved in a world cup and for all he knows it might be the only opportunity he gets as you don't know what the future holds so you'd think he'd want to take it.

Just read that Fabio Carvalho has told the Portuguese FA that he no longer wants to play for them, sparking rumours that he may switch to England due to the fact that he moved to England when he was 13.
Maybe England have been doing some recruitment in the background and have turned players like Carvalho and Harris’ heads?

Carvalho is a bit different hopefully. He was involved with England previously at age group level. Plus he was culled from Portugal's initial 55 man senior squad for the WC. Maybe did what some of our kids have done in the past. Had a look at the other options and decided to revert or pissed off at WC omission.

I wonder if Carvalho has thrown his toys out for not making the Portuguese World Cup squad? Apparently he was in the initial 55.
Edit. Morg and I must have been typing at the same time.

Has Page given any indication to why Harris has pulled out of the squad in any press conferences? I can’t find anything, I’d imagine a journalist would ask.

I thought someone on social media would've leaked something by now. The opportunity to travel with your country to a potential once in a lifetime WC is huge, so there must be some pretty serious reasons for pulling out.

I’m not judging him, but it would have been nice to see a pro-Wales Tweet.
I’m sure he’ll still be a good player for Wales!

Are the standard Wenglish rules applying here?
Picks us = Future Champions League winner, world-class potential.
Picks them = Enjoy the wilderness, he was shit anyway.

If we knew things were going to go this badly then
... you definitely cap him for the Nations League games (where we failed)
and
... take him to the World Cup
there is now that risk he looks at a declining Wales team and figures lets wait and see how things go.
The urgent need for new blood has been massively exposed here. Not saying he should be in the team but again this loyalty first because someone played a part 6 years ago is so, so flawed. They deserve to ne in a WC as this is their only chance bullshit. Well guess what - I am 51 and I may never see Wales at another WC in my lifetime, especially if talented youngsters decide to go another way. I understand players like Harris may not make it but look at the lack of quality midfielders we have

Not in the Fulham squad tonight, looks like he'll be going out on loan
Wonder what level he'll end up? Still only 17 of course

If he is going out on loan then it proves my suspicions that he’s not AS good as some made it out. I remember some people touting him as Ramsey’s replacement. Far too soon to label a kid with that.

All anyone knows is that he's brilliant at u23 level, and has been regularly scoring hattricks at that level, from midfield, since he was 16. He's barely played at senior level, so plenty left for him to prove. He's a similar type of player to ramsey as a goal-getting midfielder who likes to make late runs into the box, so potentially his successor if he fulfills his potential. But, as ever, that's a big if.
A loan now would be great for him to take the next step. No idea why you think that's a negative in any way. Anyone who's been following him / Fulham recently would know that he wasn't about to break into their first team and I haven't seen anyone suggesting that.

Very difficult for youngsters to break through into a Premier League side. Our best two players recently in Bale and Ramsey both started their career in the championship at 16 & 17.
Really not a bad thing if he can get a move somewhere and gets some games under his belt.

Anyone who's been following him / Fulham recently would know that he wasn't about to break into their first team and I haven't seen anyone suggesting that. Woodburn was a standout player in the u23 and Liverpool youth and look how that's turned out. Wilson another good youth player, as was Levitt. I can't be bothered to dig out any posts, tweets etc, but I remember reading people saying he deserved his WC callup because 'he's the next Ramsey', 'Wales are looking to build the team around him', 'he's close to breaking into the Fulham starting 11'. I also recall people on here saying he should be ahead of senior, established players....a bit baffling tbh. But anyway, I know we're a small country and resources are limited, but we get carried away far too easily when a decent youngster pops up. I know we're desperate for another Ramsey or Bale to break through, but I don't see any player even close to resembling those two at the ages they broke through. Ramsey actually made his Arsenal debut at 17, yet Harris, at the same age, isn't good enough to even be a proper squad player for Fulham. Miles apart I'm afraid.

Can't comment on the relative merits of Ramsey and Harris at 17 never seen Harris play, will say however 2008 and 2023 are worlds apart.
