Anyone else getting sick of this Ukraine pandering now I want to smash them. See zinchenko crying again I’m fatigued with it. As per my post on the Bale thread I actually think there is a message to be sent by Wales on Jubilee Sunday and that message on that significant date in many ways competes with Ukraine’s determination to qualify, as two nations who have suffered from the subjugation of their more powerful neighbour.

Anyone else getting sick of this Ukraine pandering now I want to smash them. See zinchenko crying again It’s all crocodile tears anyway, the UK was gleefully harbouring Russian wealth long before they invaded Ukraine & will continue to do so once the war is long over. When the whistle goes at 5pm tomorrow I’ll want us to win like I would any match, but particularly one of this magnitude.

Give your head a wobble, nearly double the population of Wales has had to LEAVE Ukraine as refugees, leaving their whole lives behind. Whole cities have been totally destroyed. Thousands have totally innocent people have been massacred. And you're feeling 'fatigued'. Sorry to hear that, you'd better have a sit down.

Because we all know how gutting it will be to get so close and fail again, I wonder if some of us are subconsciously almost talking ourselves into thinking that Ukraine are inevitably going to win as we don’t want to let ourselves believe we are going to do it.
I’m still in Krakow and heading home first thing tomorrow morning so been fairly calm enjoying the city, till this morning but I’m starting to feel really nervous now.

Obviously want us to batter them as I would any other team.
We expected this if they got to the final with us. Why are people all of a sudden fed up of the world being behind Ukraine, it was inevitable.
Our lads are too professional to let any of it get to them, it’ll just be another huge game they’re determined to win. Stop moaning about Ukraine, it’s getting as tiresome as people wanting them to beat us now.

It's football and I want my team to batter whoever they play, tomorrow is no different. What's happening in Ukraine is awful but that doesn't mean that I don't want my team, my country, to beat them in a competitive football match. We're not bombing and invading Ukraine, we're trying to qualify for a World Cup.

Anyone else getting sick of this Ukraine pandering now I want to smash them. See zinchenko crying again I wouldn't say I'm sick of it, but I'm tired of people using it to push their own agendas. It's become the world's ultimate marketing tool and I think its a disservice to Ukraine to have so many people on the bandwagon. Boris Johnson a prime example who has no regard for human life or quality but is highly supportive of them as he's created such a mess for himself and sees it as a cheap way of swaying voters. The only people who should want Ukraine in a World Cup is their players, staff and actual Ukrainians. They're still represented and welcomed on the world stage but it doesn't mean they need to win everything. If Wales win tomorrow and there's a massive embrace between the Welsh and Ukrainians in the name of peace on the pitch, a strong and clear message of support, I can guarantee that won't satisfy some.

It's time to be the bad guys - embrace it. The British/English media will bleat on about how Ukraine deserve something & how they've had it so hard
Meanwhile our team will be fully aware they are coming up against a squad of players who have had a month long training camp & a seige mentality in preparation for this. Make no mistake, we'll be prepared for that & the players will know that talk of Ukraine being somehow disadvantaged will be absolute nonsense - despite us having to pay lip service to that idea in the media
But as I said, it's time to be the bad guys. This group can do it, we can spoil the party, and there's no better place to do that than in Cardiff

Yeah, without wanting to bring politics into this thread too after the Bale one, but it was highly ironic him clapping Zelensky after the policies he has presided over. Poverty kills just like rifles do. I can understand why everyone is behind Ukraine in the same way that everyone was behind Denmark in the Euros. I do draw a line at fair reporting and coverage and it sounds like BBC Scotland were quick to align with Ukraine, using “they” to refer to Scotland which I find very off on their national service. We’ll certainly find out how fair domestic reporting is this weekend, 5 live’s commentators will be in Ukraine shirts for starters.

Hmm….I’ve had only a cursory look but none of the recent fixtures hes reffed look like relegation/important fixtures that would suggest both sides kicking the shit out of each other, apart from Cadiz v Madrid where I can imagine the lower league team tried to put the boot in to their more illustrious rivals. On the face of it it looks like the dodgy Ukrainian keeper is likely to have the best man he could have hoped for protecting him. I was thinking it would be Felix Brych. Surprising we don’t have a big name ref for this one. Looking at his profile he looks like he's the chosen Spanish referree in Qatar for the WC. That gives me a bit more hope that he'll try to be fair in the game on Sunday. It will be a high profile match and if he has a shocker, then his card is already marked (pun intended) ahead of the tournament proper even starting. Still, Kieffer won't be starting given this guy. Got to hope that DJ, Harry Wilson and Ethan have cool heads during the game.
The weather could have a bit of impact on the game, it looks like rain will fall in Cardiff before or during the game. Slicker surface will be good for somebody...jut no slips in the penalty box Welsh defenders please.

Severe weather warnings have been announced for Wales tomorrow. Flooding, typical! Hopefully doesn’t stop people getting there and back again after.

Bumped into some England fans today who said that even if we beat Ukraine we'll get smashed by England in the group. I don't think we would get smashed by England, I think Page sets us up in such a way now that we're not a pushover for anyone and I think tomorrow we might just see a stellar and professional display from the lads. This is our time, this is huge and we're going to do it.

Can't believe how unlucky we are with the horrendous weather! The flash flooding appears to be arriving around game time too!
Who does this suit? Ukrainians looks more physical? However, is it more tiring running around when it is heavy under feet, albeit that is not good for Bale or Ramsey presumably!

I think we've improved since we last played them & we can absolutely get something from them if we play the game & not the occasion

I live about 100miles from Cardiff, no flash flooding expected in West Wales. Forecast for KO looks like light rain according to the BBC.

Surprised Levitt isn’t in the match-day squad. Would have been the ideal player to come on if we needed to retain possession a bit more. In Pagey we trust though.

Hi Wales fans!
I live in Ukraine, currently 5 miles away from the nuclear power station occupied by Russians, but still on Ukrainian-held territory. I've registered on this forum today just to tell you that we expect you (as we expected Scotland) to go all out against us and give your 100%. Please don't think Ukrainian people expect some kind of pity from our opponents on the football pitch. To the contrary, it would be an insult to win with a hint of that feeling. I remember when the war started, there were some suggestions like "FIFA should give Ukraine a bye to the World Cup" and stuff like that, and our players, Yarmolenko in particular, said that they didn't want any of that, and they only want to be at the World Cup if they win that right fairly on the football pitch.
It will be a great match tonight and I hope both teams will give all they have plus extra effort to win it. Good luck and thanks to everyone who supports Ukraine! (in any possible way other than football)

Thanks to revie for the message.
All Ukrainian fans in Cardiff today will be warmly welcomed, and our thoughts are also with those in your war-torn homeland.
But once the ref has blown his whistle, it will be a full-on game of football.
May the best team win, but may that team be the one in RED!
