Iran is going to be a horrible game.
Just playing 5 a side in Dubai with Middle Easterners is bad enough, shithousery at its best.
With 80% of the crowd supporting Iran, it will be tough.

Even if England win their first 2, can't see them rotating their team for the game against us. They wouldn't risk losing to us, they know we wouldn't live it down. Think we really have to go for a win against the USA as the next 2 will be incredibly tough. Hopefully 3 games all in the same stadium will give us a bit of an edge when it comes to familiarity. I don't think they care about us at all tbh, they're more concerned with winning the WC! Whoever they field are going to be class, but I do fancy our chances against them if we have everyone available!

The only game out of 4 that they raised their game for. I remember walking back through Lens after the game to a bunch of English fans chanting at us "2-1 in your cup final!", turns out that game was THEIR cup final as we kicked on to the semis! Even this time round if they don't care about beating us, the media meltdown at home would have a big impact. I just think their morale would be at rock bottom after losing to us even if it was a meaningless game for them.

Iran could get thrown out.
Would they replace them this late in the day or would we only play USA & England?
Why this background noise again for us?!

I can’t see it happening as Qatar has very close links with Iran.

Strongly doubt it will happen, but if it did, it would leave a huge amount riding on the USA game, since that would basically be the decider for who finishes 2nd.
Would hope if they were excluded (and as written elsewhere, I do not think that would be a good idea), then another team is drafted in. A 3 team group's a silly idea.

If the UAE were drafted in, that'd be very good news for everyone else in the group. They finished miles behind the top two in qualifying, I assume they'd be a much weaker side.

There's no way Iran will get thrown out. Just can't see it. Look at the venues for this WC and the last. FIFA don't care about politics or morality only money. Good on the protesters for using the WC to shine a light on their issues.

I think we have to announce our provisional squad today? Is that right?

Submit to FIFA but not necessarily announce to the public

A few injury concerns now:
- Brooks and Lawrence definitely ruled out (not that the latter would have been selected) - RND surely to be ruled out - Allen could be a doubt, with Martin not able to confirm in his press conference today that he'll definitely make it - Bale should be fine and expected to train within the next couple of days, but difficult to see how he gets any serious gametime before the WC so fitness will again be an issue
Anyone else?

If we do have 55 players and named them, there’d be outrage on here about a 56th player who we left out haha.

Getting a bit despondent now with our seemingly growing list of injured, injury-prone, ageing, "can't get into my club's first team" players.
Why don't we just start against the USA with eleven young talented guys from the eventual squad, keen as mustard, and who are 100% match fit?

It will be very unfair to Bale, Wayne, Rambo, Allen, who r really loyal and made massive contributions to the team over the years wwwwwww

The Wales manager is working with his senior players to try and get the most out of their performances in Qatar
Wales manager Rob Page is taking an active approach in understanding what his senior players, such as Gareth Bale, require in order to perform at their optimum ahead of the Qatar World Cup.
Speaking individually to these players, Page then says he has the information he needs to tailor training accordingly. Believing it is the best way to get the most out of his senior stars, Page suggests it is about showing respect so that he is repaid with high-quality performances.
Speaking exclusively to FourFourTwo in the latest issue, a World Cup special available to order, Page explains: "I pull in each of the senior players – Wayne Hennessey, Joe Allen, Aaron Ramsey, Gareth, all of the players who might need a little bit more care – and just see where they’re at. I show them that respect. —————————- Actually revealing the starting XI… Why would he tailor made for the players if they arent the cores for the WC? Hennessey, Allen (when he can), Rambo and Bale bound to start… Gunter to be on the bench…

Getting a bit concerned about the low key form of our players - this may well be our only World Cup in my lifetime. I just really hope we give a good account of ourselves.
