Welsh qualified goalkeeper through his dad (as reported by dragonsoccer). Plymouth Argyle goalkeeper. Originally as 2nd choice but an injury to their first choice means Burton is taken top spot for the remainder of the season Just made three penalty saves in the EFL trophy semi final shootout. 26 years old. Could maybe do well enough to cement his place as first choice with Plymouth potentially playing in the Championship next season? No world beater but one to keep an eye on.

Interesting that he’s come from nowhere given his age. Also given his age he’s more likely to be given more of a shot if he can impress. He’ll need to do really well for them as teams don’t tend to mess about if the rookie keeper isn’t anything less than stellar.
So…a few ifs but IF he’s 1st choice in the championship next season and considers himself Welsh he’d surely be catapulted into being second choice to Ward…and I expect Ward will either be in the Championship next season or on a bench somewhere so it’s feasible that this lad could potentially take advantage of our lack of keeper options and have a fairly clear run at challenging for first choice if he’s successful at Plymouth and wants to play for Wales.

That injured number 1, Michael Cooper, is comfortably the best keeper in the division by all accounts. Basically he is considered a Premier League keeper playing in league one. He is a major reason that they are top, having already won Plymouth's player of the season and been in the league's team of the season for 21/22.
The injury is a very serious one, cruciate ligament job, and happened at the start of Feb, so after the window shut. As a result, the job is Callum's at least until the end of the season. The only other keeper is a ex Watford and Southampton youth teamer, whose only senior football has been in the National League with Barnet and then Dover, and a spell at whatever level Plymouth Parkway play at. Therefore, he is comfortably more experienced than the other option.
Given how lengthy Cooper's spell out is going to be, I would be shocked if Plymouth didn't add someone in the summer, Burton's performances may well decide whether they were looking for a backup or a short-term starter.

Interesting situation. Hopefully he does well at no.1 and could definitely be an option for us

Signed for Wrexham. I'm assuming he'll be second choice behind Arthur Onkwonko. You never know though...

They must have at least four keepers now.

They must have at least four keepers now. McNicholas has gone out on loan, so 3 plus a youngster.

Thought he did well last night made some great saves and was unlucky with rebound saving the penalty.
