yeh i agree, i think I would take earnie off at half time, then put hum up front with morrison, maybe bring allen on? Allen isn't on the bench. Earnshaw is unlikely to be taken off.

I dont buy all this about changing tempos etc. We have started the second half with a bit of pace in our game and are causing problems. No Earnie and the ball is sticking with our players more.

Im sorry, playing with pace has made all the difference, they cant cope now its gone up a few gears. second half is very reminiscent of the Scotland game.

Ive just had to be revived with smelling salts! I passed out before the 4th goal in shock at how convincing we actually look.

i had the same, although I used a bottle of Stella!! Must remember its only luxembourg! Yes but we have beaten other minnow sides and looked rubbish doing it. Yes it is only luxembourg- but its the manner of victory. We have deservedly given them a tonking. There are so many parallels with the Scotland game. The trick is to keep it simple and get the ball forward. No more sideways passing in front of the opposition. Get forward with pace and stretch the opposition, very much like Flynn's under 21s do.

true, it has been nice to watch for a change The players will be buzzing after this, even if it is Luxembourg. We have learnt a lot and seen some progression bearing in mind how poor we were first half. We have some momentum now for Montenegro. Im actually looking forward to it, provided Tosh does not sabotage things as he has a way of doing

first half was poor; clearly, the players were rusty and also a little lethargic. also, the formation didn't suit.
second half, big improvement. more engergy - even the fabled ability to change tempo was evident. although it was 'only' luxembourg, bellamy's finish was important - evidence of his improvement in this area with city over the last year. now all we need is to make sure he's ready for the proper games. ledley stepped it up.
no complaints really.
throw bale, allen, evans, blake into the mix. sweet.
throw collisson and ramsey in. sweeeeeeeeeeeet.
hopefully i'm not jinxing things, but:
IT BEGINS.

Earnshaw caused US lots of problems first half, tough on the lad but he should not be selected again, even when others arent fit. Expect to see him on the plane to Monty then Morison was quality I thought, simply does more up front than the others, even when he doesnt have the ball you know that he is there. Won headers and we havent had a striker with the ability to do that consistently since Hartson. Must start against Monty imo. As long as we play with the same urgency second half in the whole game against Montenegro then I will be happy. I dont think its any surprise that when we step up the tempo we actually create chances, and quite a few of them.

It has to be said, Earnie was not i nit for the first half, deserved to come off at half time imo. MOrrison, looked like a solid player, certainly held the ball up better and was more aware than of the other options we have.
Overall a good performance, Earnie will be on that plane though!

He set up the first but for me he was partly why the two up front didnt work. We played Evans and Church up front against Scotland and didnt have the problems we had tonight. When you have two strikers you can still have one drop deep and help the midfield, Earnie was trying that tonight but he doesnt have the ability to help out and thus we lost the ball on numerous occasions. Like Mark Bowen said- we still need more options than just playing 4-5-1, especially at home.

First half was dire.
Whatever Toshack said at half-time, he should repeat it before the start of the game in Podgorica.
The pace of the play was much, much better. The margin of the victory was however a little flattering as Luxembourg's defence was poor for pretty much all of our goals. We took them well, though, and I'm feeling quietly confident we'll make a good start to our group in September.

More positves than negatives to take out of the game I thought. Some encouraging performances, some not so good. Have a look at my blog for more detailed nonsense: leglessdragon.wordpress.com/Feel free to comment and have a look around, just don't touch the good crockery!

One disappointing thing that I just remembered - some of our players looked as though scoring wasn't a big deal for them, they just treated the opposition with disrespect in my opinion. Whn Kitenge scored for Luxembourg, the whole side celebrated like they meant it. When we scored our goals, it was as though we were having a kickabout on a Sunday afternoon - players casually high-fiving and half-embracing. Yes it was a friendly, and yes we were playing a fairly weak side, but there was no passion. It was a good performance but they needed the kick up the backside from Toshack at half time to motivate themselves.

the second half was a huge relief - to see us playing at pace and with confidence - Toshack must take some credit for this - it did mirror the under 21s as noted above.
Just the result we need to take us into Montenegro - get a win out there and CCS will be packed for the visit of Bulgaria. The next game is always huge.

I thought our goal celebrations weren't too bad actaully! Bellars jumping into Ledley arms after his goal showed how much it meant to him. I like the way King went over to celebrate with Bellars after his goal too- The boy's got respect for his elders!
Luxembourg celebrated their goal like mad, but I think that's evidence that they were really up for it, and taking our scalp would have been a really, really big deal for them. Which is another thing that made the second half performance so pleasing.

I quite enjoyed our celebrations and Bellers was class jumping onto Ledley. Also you could see what the goal meant for Ashley Williams. The majority of the fans who bothered to turn up also stayed behind and clapped them off at the end which was cool. Top night
