I wonder if Spain do the 1 coach for all??? Not sure, but the Faroe Islands don't either ... should we follow their lead too? And yes, I know how ridiculous it is to compare Wales to the Faroe Islands ... but so is comparing us to Spain ... It's not that ridiculous, not so long ago we were ranked below the Faroes.

U21s would have qualified for at least the last two Euros if the senior format was used.

Its not just the U21's!!!! U17's and 19's as well. He did a good job, not a great job with the U21's and none of his age groups EVER qualified!!!! Elite stages but not one single tourament. I believe Brian Flynn could not take Wales that final step. The FAW should also appoint 3 different coaches for the different age groups. What's the point in celebrated the fact that we have gained the elite UEFA Pro Licence coaching status if we're going to let one man take all the positions? Spread it around and see who's doing the business and who's not. You never know, we might discover someone who will take us on that step further to major finals.

'Absolutely gutted that Brian Flynn has been axed by the FAW! I really don't understand why. Possibly the best manager I've ever had!' - Nathan Craig
alarch- It's Brian Flynn, with an i. The man has probably done more for Welsh football than anyone else over the past 40 years. It seems a bit disrespectful to not even spell his name correctly.

Good luck for the future Brian. You tried your best. I believe the biggest mistake you made was to play 4-3-3 out in Bosnia when a draw would have been a great result. We lost 2-1 and then Italy pipped us. To ambitious formation caught us out. But thank you!

In hindsight, he should have been offered the seniors job over speed.

I saw enough in his two games and his handling of the Bellamy omission to be happy that he was passed over. Ashley Williams as a holding midfielder?

i'd rather have had flynn with us long term that the turmoil welsh football has gone through the last 6 months.
As it stands now we are stuck with coleman and can't see beliers hanging round anyway. Ash was used as a holding midfielder previously and successfully by tosh

The FAW should also appoint 3 different coaches for the different age groups No no no no no no no! Yes. And by yes I mean no, no, no, no, no, no, no too. The structure has made a massive difference to the improvement in our u17, 19 and 21 results over the past 6 or so years.

Yeah, the 3-0 win over the jocks in 2009. Ash Williams is a centre back though and I think Flynn made a mistake playing him in midfield too.

thanks flynnfan.
I was just making the point to llannerch that he was used there successfully by tosh, so flynn can't take all the blame for that.

Sad news and quite suprising. Good luck to Brian, he totally transformed youth football for us and turned a laughing stock at 21 level into a top ranked team. I watched us beat France 4-2 at Ninian Park with a couple of hundred of fans watching in the rain. The end of that campaign we sold out the same ground to play England in the play offs. We lost that night but I've never been so proud of a bunch of top players who gave everything that night. The 21s were a saving grace in some of the darker days of Tosh.

They still have two important games left and are currently in 2nd place in the group and still in with a shout of play off spot. They will need to appoint someone quick.
