i would like to think he wouldnt be approached untill after the play offs, last thing we need is flynn getting side tracked or any of the u21 players wondering about the managers future

Depends whether we qualify for the play-offs - a loss against Italy could still blow it.

Raptor calls it... FAW sounding out Giggs with Flynn as assistant. If Giggs says no then Tosh will stay on as director of football with Flynn as manager. If Flynn says no then Tosh will stay on as manager.

Unfortunately Flynn's Idea has always been 4-4-2. A mediocre lower league club manager. Wouldn't be surprised, though, if he is made caretaker manager until Giggs retires and is ready to take over.

A mediocre lower league club manager. Of course there are 2 sides to every coin, but I'd take the view that he wasn't at all mediocre. Wrexham finished 7th in what's now league 1 under him, missing out on the play offs by 1 goal if I recall, and where are they now? Swansea got promoted under him as well I think - the current revolution started with him. His work for the u21s is amazing considering the resources - how many u21s are missing from his squads due to being promoted to the full squad? So he's on the verge of the play offs with largely an u19s team from a tiny pool of players initially as well. Add the giant killings in the FA cup that he inspired - exactly the type of giant killings we'll need if we want to qualify for a tournament. Also he was for a long time 3rd in the "longevity list" of managers - behind Fergie at Man U and Gradi at Crewe - now you don't stay in the job that long in football unless you consistenly improve and punch above your weight.

Good post cilmeri. People who dismiss Flynns career in club mangement obviously haven't looked hard enough at what he actually achieved.
Trendy- I hope you are calling this like you called Bellamy angling for a loan move to Cardiff ...rather than when you called it about Spurs having no chance of getting into the champions league!!!

club management is irrelivant toshack won a la liga with the most sucsessful football club in the world real madrid (as im sure we are all aware) yet is deemed a failure by many at international level so maybe appointing flynn who has a 'poor' club management record will be a success at the highest level

That's hardly glittering is it. If he was that great, better sides than Wrexham would have been after his services. As far as I can remember Wrexham under him were good going forward but pretty woeful at the back. Yes, he's done great with the U21s. In particular he has been good at persuading dual qualified players to sign up for Wales.

Better sides than Wrexham were after him, but he stayed where he was rather than go up to the championship. And no prem club were going to appoint a league 1 manager - the days of a manager progressing through the leagues has gone.
On reflection he should have left Wrexham to the championship and tried to move on from there. Look at the job Dave Jones is doing at Cardiff - amazing job really, and he wasn't mentioned for the Villa job. Crazy stuff really, but he'd be a better bet than Houllier I reckon.

Qualified for the play-offs though! His job is still not done, and I think thats the reason the FAW might wait to see what happens tonight, and during play-offs (if we get there).
