A wigan fans rating and assessment of his debut:
Huws - 7 - looked good on the ball, passing was a but stray sometimes but he has only been here a week or so.

Did anyone goto the Cardiff vs Wigan game last night? Thus far, only managed to speak to one person who went and they said:
"he had a good first half when he was the best player on the park. Faded in the second half but was prominent again when Wigan were pushing for an equaliser. Great dead-ball delivery."
Anyone else go and concur with the above?

I was there but I was a little bit disappointed with his performance I'll be honest. He didn't stand out but there again he didn't do much wrong either - perhaps I was expecting fireworks. He was neat and tidy all game but I noticed him more second half as he was attacking down my end and he was the main corner and free kick taker - some cracking deliveries into the box, Vokes (or perhaps Davies in the meantime) could benefit from that.

I thought he was the best midfielder on the pitch in the first half. But that isn't saying much. As mentioned, very good set piece taker. He seems an immaculate passer of the ball. He also seems like the kind of player who likes to distribute quickly, he would sooner play the ball to a team mate rather than draw a player and then play a pass. Wigan didn't look as good as their reputation at all I would say, but Cardiff were well organised and very hard to break down. Wigan tried to counter attack but were quite sloppy in possession (as were Cardiff). If I were trying to guess at what style of player he could end up like if he ends up maturing into a top player, then I would say a left footed Scott Parker. In other games I've seen him drive with the ball a bit more as SP does. Huws likes to sit slightly deep and play like a dynamic 'water-carrier' style player. Hopefully Huws gets 40 games this year for a team who, once they find form, should win a lot of games in the Championship.

Wigan sign Manchester City midfielder Emyr Huws on a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee.
I guess we have overhyped him a bit? If he was a great prospect then another premiership team would have presumably snapped him up?

Good news. Better he settles at a club. Man City would only mess him about and stutter his progression.
Fitness providing he will be a Premier League player in the future.

My view is that this is a terrific signing for the club, especially at today's prices, and for the player himself. But it is important, as part of his development, that the club get up to the Premiership this season or next.

Regular game time is the thing that Huws needs most. Too many young players at Premier League clubs just don't get a look in. If Sturridge couldn't get a proper run at City what could Huws possibly expect? If he performs well enough he'll get a move back to the Premier League soon enough, with Wigan or otherwise.

But thinking about it for a team like Wigan to spend money they didn't have to spend shows his quality and what they think of him. Seem him s major asset and profit in the long run? Don't want any other championship clubs to have him if they don't get promoted and in the prem they have at least one quality player.

Not happy about this move. Huws needs to be playing Premier League football, he's not a teenager anymore.

Ideally he'd be playing premier league football, but it certainly isn't a necessity right now. If he's as good as we think he'll be playing in the big league within a year or 2 and that's fine.

Came off after 57 minutes. Hopefully, not an injury. Craig Davies scored for Bolton - could be called up if there are injuries.

Davies had a great game by all accounts - ran the Wigan defence ragged. Amazing how a new manager can turn things around.

On the bench for Wigan in Malky Mackay's first game in charge. Unused today. I fear what the new manager will think of someone who plays the 'right' way?

Not a surprise. One looked at Huws to Wigan as a good move when it happened, but suddenly the club look a complete joke run by a complete joke and managed by a complete joke.
