he's an excellent manager, but not really suited for a Project with us.

'A source close to Sven' is the basis of these reports.
In other words: it's nonsense.

I could see it happening and because of the footballing mercenary factor I'm surprised he's not been linked before really.
I don't think he is a good manager, but he is most definitely a lucky one and that could be worth it's weight in gold. I couldn't see us losing a play off or missing a penalty to make us qualify for a finals with him in charge.
Our next manager needs to have some sort of over achievement against the odds on his cv and a good record of motivating players. I don't think sven has that tbh.

Although I think the story is total farts, I'd take Sven any day if he were genuinely interested. His stint with England looks impressive in light of what has since transpired. His effort with Man City was fairly good too, given ha he more or less built a team from scratch, and he was sacked far too soon. If he were willing to do it for the whole campaign he'd have to be considered. That said, Flynn would still be my number 1 choice, for various reasons.

Thing with Sven is, if he managed back to back victories with us, he'd be straight off as soon as a Premiership club come (inevitably) calling. He's a good manager but not the right man for us.

who do you think the FAW would pick out of the two - -
- brian flynn - cheap, easy, backing of the fans, would jump at the chance.
- sven goran erikson - expensive, difficult, fans against it,would have to be persuaded.
flynns the man for me.
in some ways,i would think more of the FAW if they did stick their neck out and go for sven but i think its a non starter if the new man is not flynn,or at least coleman, then i will be stunned.

if it's coleman, i will be devastated.
is it me, or does there seem to be a somewhat snide attitude towards flynn in a lot of the media coverage - praise for him seems to be given grudgingly.
clearly, the 'story' is that the media wants giggs - but i hope that people in the faw aren't actively briefing against flynn - for whatever reason.
makes me wonder.

Coleman is the cheap and boring option, he hasn't done anything of note at all and his 'success' at Fulham was a few years ago now. I would be more than happy with Flynn, something I would never have said two years ago. The job he has done with the u21's is nothing short of fantastic, it is him that I feel sorry for that we fell short in these last 2 campaigns.

I really don't want Coleman but I'd have him before Sven.
What are the FAW playing at? The real fans want Flynn permanently, Flynn would love the job I'm sure, the FAW would have him relatively cheap (compared to most of the names being mentioned), what's the problem?

I agree with your post Trendy. I'd be hugely disappointed if the FAW appointed Coleman. And yep, the media's attitude towards Flynn does feel snide. It really feels at the moment like it's the fans vs the media as to who should be next manager, and perhaps we have been able to make our voices heard after all. Good to see a few apostles on the media Wales webchat thing the other day, having a go over their claims that somehow Giggs is 'the peoples choice'. They seem to finally be getting it. Chris Wathan mentioned on the last focus on football podcast that Flynn is the fans choice, Matthew Jones said the same thing on radio Wales on saturday (btw- he mentioned that he'd been looking at forums and websites- is Matt an apostle member?! If so, good on you Matt! Such a shame about your injuries- I think you'd be Wales captain now if you'd been a bit luckier) Anyway, lets keep making our voice heard. Perhaps we're not as insignificant as it usually feels!

flynn is the best option for fans, players and the faw.
if he is disatrous as caretaker and considering all targets are dropping out paul trollope should be a serious candidate (yer, seriously)

"let's keep making our voice heard"
flynnfan has made a good point here. If we could get 100 per cent behind Flynn at the Bulgaria match, that would help to strengthen Brian Flynn's position.
I don't know how many of us have applied for tickets behind the goals, but it would be great if we could get a few chants of "Brian Flynn's Barmy Army" going, to show him and the FAW that we welcome the appointment.

even though im happy with flynn im depressed about the lack of options.other than flynn or coleman(and he is a viable option even tho we dont fancy it) theres not much out there so trollope or hartson are next in line.

Coleman would do an OK job I think. Trollope would be next in line, though part of me hopes that in the next two months Stoke have an abysmal run of form and Pulis is freed up to take over from Flynn should it not work out.

In fairness Wrecsam were the best team to come to Newport this season so far. But I don't want him either.

Take it from a Rovers fan, we do NOT want Trollope at any cost. A while back on DS I posted about how he could be a contender for Wales in the future as things had improved under him after a long winless streak. Unfortunately he has gone backwards again and is playing negative football and playing players out of position for no reason. The guy is knocking 100's off the gate every week and is literally clinging on to his job for dear life. If he was given the job it would be like Toshack, only even worse.

Glad to hear that RD. PT doesn't strike me as a particularly inspirational type of bloke...
