If you could hand pick a team to start against, Accringron at home would be right up there!* *getting the fighting talk in early before the Rovers match I think you're right about Accrington, tbh most of the Conference would've beaten Accrington yesterday. Newport have Brighton then Northampton Town then Bristol Rovers coming up. I can see us struggling in all three matches unfortunately. Anything that comes from these games will be a bonus.

Nah, its just fighting talk- you won't struggle against us, we have a few players out with long term injuries and are at the limit of our wage cap, so much so that we couldn't even name a full complement of subs on the opening day of the season! We lost to a poor Exeter side yesterday and given that you are at home and we are in a mess until our injuries clear up then I am expecting a defeat for Rovers.

Rovers were awful, lucky they have players to come back in or they would be down. But we missed too many chances to be happy with matters too. Mildenhall good shot stopper but gets a nose bleed if he comes off his line. Parks and especially McChrystal looked like Conference centre halfs though you can understand poor play when the keeper behind doesn't command the area. I imagine the return fixture will be a much stiffer test.

Parkes and McChrystal were a pretty tidy partnership in the second half of last season when we were in the middle of promotion form so I have no doubts their form will (eventually) return. We tailed off when we became safe from relegation and have picked up this season like we ended the last- our confidence is shot to bits and we are waiting for a team to roll over against us. Although our opening fixtures have given us little chance of that! I would certainly not have chosen to play the Newport away game so early in the season with your lot still pumped up from promotion and looking to put one over a nearby team! From what I have heard Newport thoroughly deserved the win so no complaints at all from me about the result, although nice to know that nasty piece of shit David Pipe has not changed since his Rovers days, apparently lucky not to be sent off with a two footed lunge. Reformed character my arse! So yeah, best of luck for the rest of the season. I would hope we would have sorted ourselves out by the return fixture. The new FFP rules have brought home to roost years of long contracts and overspending by previous managers so we are struggling to be competitive- despite decent attendances. So don't be surprised if the return fixture does not live up to expectation!

So don't be surprised if the return fixture does not live up to expectation! I'm not saying FFP is a good or a bad thing but how can it be legal. Surely clubs can spend what they want. Other businesses do. Don't go overboard on Pipe, lots of meaty challenges went in from all sides. McChrystal however took every opportunity to roll around like he was taking snipers bullets. I'm suprised none of you have picked up on Zebroski, he slammed Parkes into the advertising hoarding pretty hard and made it look like an accident. Zebroski snarled at him telling Parkes where to go after it and Parkes kinda avoided Zeb after it.

From what I've read, seen and heard the quality between LEAGUE 2 and the WELSH PREM isn't that big, many of the WPL players would do well in League 2.
I believe many people have an odd perspective of the WPL, looking at the short term success and instead of looking at the positives of the league totally demolishing it with the negatives, for example the WPL has created the fair-share of Welsh Internationals as a previous comment here said, including Jake Cassidy as well.
1) There's much more money in League 2 than the Welsh Premier League, much more. - meaning more attendance. - better players to sign. - better advertisement. - better academies.
Need to try and follow The League Of Ireland's example.

From what I've read, seen and heard the quality between LEAGUE 2 and the WELSH PREM isn't that big, many of the WPL players would do well in League 2. This a wind up? Yes? Ok I'll bite. When Newport were in the Southern League I was told there isn't much difference. When Newport were in the Con South I was told there isn't much difference. When Newport were in the Con National I was told there isn't much difference. Now Newport are in League Two I'm told there isn't much difference. To avoid any further confusion there are 3 divisions left in the Englsh pyramid, League 1, The Championship and the Premiership which one of these three does the difference get noticable. Or isn't there much difference. When the WPL started Merthyr were excused participation because they played in the Conference and it would have constituted too big a drop for them. Cardiff or Swansea could've possibly been League Two (Div 4 in old money), but I can't be bothered to check. It's just a Newport thing isn't it? LOL The oddest thing about all of this is that no one has suggested that Wrexham ought to be in the WPL! Aren't they in the Conference? ....and before anyone gets the wrong vibe I wish Wrexham promotion this year.

including Jake Cassidy as well. Hmm, Cassidy was signed from Airbus who had just signed him from Llandudno Junction (if I'm correct) during the same closed season. He's never, to my recollection, played in the WPL, so it can't claim to have 'produced' him

Merthyr could be a Conference club in a few years, Colwyn Bay are only a league below us. It's a shame Bangor and Barry were forced into the WPL, it's killed them. Bangor were reasonably well-supported up until that, I'd imagine Newport would've gone the same way. The Welsh Premier is gash and it develops nobody to the standard of international football - The only regulars to come from it are Craig Jones who plays for Bury and Kaid Mohamed who plays for Northampton.
Best thing would be for the development of young Welsh players would be to reinvent the Premier Cup, allow Cardiff and Swansea to play their U21's, and set a quota of 5 Welsh players on the pitch.

Well, Port Talbot beat Merthyr 2-1 midweek with 10 men. So the WPL can't be that bad.

got to love some people slagging off OUR national league!!!welsh prem is and has produced some decent players, makes me laugh when fans of Merthyr,Colwyn Bay etc slagging off the Welsh prem like their to good for it watched Merthyr a few times and there's no way in a million years they play in a better standard league than the Welsh prem!

They're probably at the same level. Being in the English system allows for the quality to increase as they progress up the leagues though, whereas the Welsh Premier offers a pummelling defeat to Latvian champions in the X100 Pre-Qualifying stages of the CL.
The best players to have come from the Welsh Prem are now in League 2. It's never going to help the National team.

There's nothing glamorous in the draws Welsh sides get in Europe. TNS, Bangor, Barry and Rhyl would all jump back into the English system the first chance they get.

Personally I have had some great European trips following my WPL team in Europe. There's No Supporters have never been in the English system and Barry would probably jump at anything right now.

James Loveridge signs on a month's loan. Hopefully I can check him out tomorrow at Oxford Utd.
Apparently Edinburgh and Monk have been doing their badges together, so this works well for both clubs and who knows perhaps Wales too at some point.
Edinburgh is also keen to get to know Russel Slade. I'd take Oshilaja back, great player for Lge Two for sure.

given Newport have decided to let a number of senior players go and they'll be looking to bring in a number of players in who can you see coming! I'd like to think Butcher would bring in some more Welsh players and there's a lot out there now looking for clubs
