for residency reasons are there any players from cardiff city or swansea that could possibly play for wales soon? just curious due to that arteta and england gossip.

Dorus de Vries? I think residency counts only if you're from outside the UK originally because it's to do with passports, not sure where I learned that but seem to recall it somewhere from the dark recesses of my grey matter. In that case the British nationals wouldn't be eligible for Wales but someone like de Vries would be.
Also the Spaniards that have played for Swansea; e.g. Serran, Pintado, Angel Rangel, etc.
Cardiff seem to sign only British players so not sure what the situation would be there.
As I recall it's 5 years of citizenship, so de Vries would get there in another couple of seasons. Could be a decent alternative to Hennessey or Myhill.
But to be honest, the citizenship rule is total bollocks, it's a ridiculous spurious rule that should be abolished before it does any more damage to international football.

And it's a disgrace that it's allowed. I support Wales not 4 Welshman, 4 Englishman, 2 germans and a spainiard.

ive no probelm with it if the player actaully considers himself welsh like earnie but if they wanted to play for us just to play international football then its a clear no go

Don't suppose Scott Sinclairs got a Welsh granny has he?! (He's from Bath - not too far from the border, so its not a total shot in the dark)

I was going to say Aaron Wildig, but then I remembered him being called up by Wales U16 only to then find out he didn't qualify. Peter Whittingham wasn't schooled in Wales, he was still on Villa's books until about 22/23?

I support Wales not 4 Welshman, 4 Englishman, 2 germans and a spainiard. before anyone gets carried away,it was establised on another thread that this has never happened and is very unlikely to happen. just thought id nip it in the bud before people start saying its a disgrace and an outrage and they wont be going to the bulgaria game if arteta, almunia, n'zogbia and a pile of fringe swansea players get called up. (i wonder if almunia,n'zogbia and arteta are aware that many welsh fans are disgusted about the propspect of them playing for wales despite the fact that they have never considered it or even been approached)

I know that it would never happen. Just saying it's a disgrace how others do it but the home nations don't.

to be honest i wouldnt be in favour of it but if arteta was willing to play for us i dont think a player of his quality could be turned down
as poeple often say when it comes to davies, koumas, fletcher coming out of retirement 'our national pool is to small to refuse them'
arteta is far better than those three
but he can do better and he knows it

I'd have Fletcher in our pool, maybe not in the squad but a couple of injuries and we are rather bare.
