Starts against Mexico for me, in the false 9 role. Time to get experimental.

Doesn't start for me just yet, but would be the first attacking sub I'd go for. Moore is too valuable as a target man for a game of this magnitude Tyler and Wilson both making good cases to come on for Bale after an hour.

Tyler involved in plenty of the highlights here, and had two 2nd assists today. Seems to be playing as one of two attacking 8's in the Leeds system at the moment, meaning he is one of 3 midfielders, and was dropping back as such It's interesting because I wonder if we could fit him into a system like that which would enable us to get the best out of Ramsey, potentially drop Ampadu back into defence, and also become a more attacking team by virtue of having 2 attacking midfielders who can come back as well. Something like this; Hennessey Connor-Ampadu-Rodon-Davies Allen Ramsey-Tyler Bale-Moore-James This looks really strong to me www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQo7i7zTrdc&ab_channel=SkySportsFootball

Always flatters to deceive in a Welsh shirt unfortunately But I don't think we can honestly say that's he's started a game, or had substantial minutes, in a game for us alongside all our other best players. Looking at how well he's doing for Leeds at the minutes makes me think we should try him alongside our best players to see how he does It's hard to really impress when you only play 10-15 minute spells. He was impressive when he came on against Ireland though

He was impressive when he came on against Ireland though I much rather seeing the over optimism than the miserable doom and gloom, but there's no point sugarcoating things. Tyler Roberts has shown the same in every side he's played for - from when I watched him with the u21s, to his leeds performances and for the seniors. He's shown lots of fantastic attributes and talent, but also a rawness and lack of game intelligence and poor decision making that has prevented him from kicking on. Any time I look at Leeds' fans' comments about him it's always along the lines of 'there's a player in there somewhere', but that he isn't contributing enough or the final passes let him down. It's been the same in his Wales appearances and I don't believe that's anything to do with the amount of gametime he's had - he has started about half a dozen games for us after all. It's just where he's at as a player. Having said that, he looked good yesterday from the highlights and has had a couple of good games recently. Hopefully this is the start of him working out his role in the team - the no.8 position might be the one!

Hopefully this is the start of him working out his role in the team - the no.8 position might be the one! But this is what I mean, his 5 starts for us consist of; - Ireland away in the Nations League. We had a very young team out for this one, and it was a big deal at the time that we were missing Bale & Ramsey having not won a game without both in a very long time - Trinidad & Tobago friendly. Played with fringe players - England friendly. Played with a weakened team against England which is a thankless task - Bulgaria away in the Nations League. Again a very young team out, no Bale, Ramsey, Allen or Moore - Mexico friendly. Again playing with fringe players So 3 friendlies with fringe players, and 2 competitive starts whereby we were missing the majority of our first choice attackers. I think he's the type of player who plays better with better players around him, and I'd like to see how he does when he starts alongside our better players. We've been lacking a no.8 to pair with Ramsey so fingers crossed he can nail down that position. He does seem like more of an attacking midfielder than someone with a striker's instinct to me

I really thought he would have started against either Belgium or the Czechs seeing he's been playing regularly at a higher level than almost all of the squad.
I know Wilson scored the goal against Belgium so difficult not to drop him, and then Roberts got sent home. But I would have liked to seen James - Roberts - Bale.

Wish he could just score a few goals
Its really bizarre. He seems to have everything and things he does a lot of the time are more difficult than putting the ball in the net.
I know it took Brooks, Dan James, etc, a couple of years before they started finding the net a few times. Hope that happens for him because if he can add that to his game then we have a high quality attacking player on our hands

A few inches either way and he'd have had 3 goals and 2 assists since February I think

He just can't score can he?!
Missed a one on one with the keeper against Liverpool, should've scored.

Overall, I think he played well. Lots of intelligent movement to find himself space, created a couple of very good chances. But yes, he definitely should have scored. He doesn't get many chances because he prefers to do his work just outside the box, but when he did get into that one on one he had to finish it. He just panicked and blasted it at the keeper. Hopefully once he gets his first goal and finds himself more often in those positions, he'll build up a bit of confidence and able to keep composure

He shows some obscenely good footwork at 1:40 here, again unlucky not to get an assist. He really should have scored his one on one though - seems to be a confidence thing as if he'd side footed it either side it's a certain goal, but he panicked and smashed it down the middle instead Either way he's developed really well this season - I think if we played 4-2-3-1 I'd really like to see him start in Ramsey's absence www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgFFmOZ1Daw&ab_channel=SkySportsFootball

He had zero conviction with his first (blocked) shot and second shot for the goal.
As stated its absolutely bizarre given his obvious talent why he massively lacks confidence in front of goal. Just believe and the rest will come!

At bloody last.
Hopefully this will give him the confidence he needs going forward, he's always looked 'scared' in the final 3rd imo.

Just believe and the rest will come! Sometimes all it takes is getting that first one off your back. Bale went on a really long run without a win for Spurs and then once he got his first one just took off from there. Psychology & confidence is everything in football

Worth noting though that was only his 8th goal in three and a half seasons and about 90 appearances at leeds, so he's unlikely to become a prolific goalscorer

Also worth noting that he hasn't played as a striker for a long time. Leeds pretty much exclusively play him as a midfielder now, and his goal scoring rate isn't too different to Ramsey's at the same age (before that mad breakthrough season where he couldn't stop scoring).

Bielsa is no mug. Tyler is a link up player. He was captain of a very successful Wales U15 and goal scoring wasn’t his thing. He’s a moneyball, part of the jigsaw player. Leicester City are very good at that. Someone who’s not a world beater can be a winner within a team structure. Andy King, Drinkwater. I think Leeds do it well too. Good for Tyler.

I didn't really see much in him at all but have changed my thoughts, been impressed with his skill and control in tight situations,in games where we will be under pressure that could be useful, don't know why but i get the feeling he might really come to the fore and be one of our stars if he gets the chance.

I think he'll morph into an attacking no.8 given his skill set. He was playing there at the end of the season. I wouldn't be surprised to see him & Ramsey playing as 8s for us in a 4-3-3 in the future
