Not sure if it's been said but the draw for this is 29th November with our first game being in March 2021. Not an awful lot of time to sort things.

We really need to try win the nations league group this autumn so we all but secure a play-off place (only 3 on offer to the 3 highest ranked nations league group winners who do not finish in the top 2 of the 10 WCQ groups). |

Its only the top team from each group that qualifies directly. You then effectively get the highest 12 ranked teams qualify for the 3 play off's. The next nations league should be a fantastic tournament in its own right, certainly no longer glorified friendlies. |

Agreed, really need to do as well as we can, think it's only 2 places from the NL too, 10 group runners up and 2 best NL not qualifed. Gonna be a big ask. Ideally we'd get Scotland, Northern Ireland and Bulgaria but we all know Wales just doesn't get that lucky. |

I thought the 3 additional qualifiers came 12 best Nations league finishers. but its 2 who get the chance to fight within the 3 play offs. In effect 22 at least qualify or reach the play offs. For me it's a case of who I'd want to avoid
Pot 1
Self explanatory really, although after Denmark/Croatia I think I'd rather play England than any of the others as I feel their defense is weaker than the rest & with our full squad we could cause them trouble
Pot 3
Iceland - seem to have street smarts
Scotland - on a good run + it's a derby
Norway - Haaland is a freak. Plus Odegaard & Sorloth good players. I think they will end up in Pot 2 though
Bosnia - Dzeko & Pjanic have more star factor than most other teams in that pot
Pot 4
Finland - Again street smarts. I think they'll be pot 3
Slovenia - Oblak in goal is worth avoiding. Ilicic also a brilliant forward with quality
North Macedonia - I think they'll qualify for the Euros & are on a great run. Plus several players playing at high level in Europe; Bardhi, Alioski, Ristovski, Pandev
Pot 5
Kosovo - in reality probably should be a pot 4 team but are a new nation. Several good players & played well against England recently
Armenia - Mkhitaryan is probably the best player in this pot so best to avoid him
Pot 6
Nothing to worry about here

Fingers crossed we can get a decent group in December |

Pffffft. I’d much rather have the likes of San Marino thanks. Either way I don’t think it matters. Even drawing the likes of Denmark from pot 1 they will easily top a group with us in it. I just can’t see us over-coming a top seed the way you have to to qualify for a World Cup. Not sure what second place gets you in the new format. Probably not even a play off place given that Europe gets so few finals spots. Mind you who wants to go to a winter World Cup in a country with prohibitions on alcohol? Once again, pffffft... |

I wouldn't go as far to say Denmark would definitely top us, but they would definitely be big favourites. We were putting in much better performances towards the end of the last qualifying campaign, far better than in our nations league games against denmark a couple of years ago. So if we can get back to that level and build on it, we would have a chance. If we finish second, I think we're essentially into a playoff semi final - final round which will obviously be tough! On the whole, I would put our chances of qualifying at around 20-30% |

A couple of draws with them and it would be all to play for |
