Poland equalise. I think we are destined for the unseeded part, let's hope the boys can pull it out of the hat tomorrow night. yep, Need Italy to break NI down now.

Looking very much like we’ll need a win at this point for a home play off, nightmare night for results but at least we’re still in it I suppose

Basically, everything that could go wrong this evening is going wrong. Just need one or two goals to go our way. If I understand it correctly, if Denmark manage an equalizer a draw should be enough for us tomorrow.

The only worry with Portugal is getting ridden by the ref and Ronaldo doing Ronaldo things. Other than that, Serbia were miles ahead of them as an outfit from the games against us, we were absolutely hammered by Serbia in Dublin and fluked our way to a draw, whereas on the balance of play you could argue we should've had at least 4 points off Portugal over the two games. Obviously you want to avoid Portugal just because of the quality they have across the board but I don't think it's an unwinnable game for Wales if that draw happens. They are quite pedestrian at times, and there are plenty mistakes in the keeper and defence in my opinion. Good point that- you just know that if Wales played Portugal the ref would only be interested in reffing one team. Operating on some subconscious bollocks about “the World Cup needs big teams like Portugal in it”. It will be the same for whoever plays any of the other traditional WC qualifiers It comes off as bitter and whingy (of course) but anyone looking at our away game to Portugal would be hard pressed to find a more ridiculous refereeing performance. On the balance across the group we've had the rub of the green at times as well, especially in the last few games (with nothing on the line), but yes, it's definitely something I'd be wary of if you end up drawing any big big team like Portugal (or possibly Italy as things stand!). Like all smaller nations, we just want a fair whack

Hate to be a Debbie Downer but we’re as far from a World Cup as we’ve ever been. If we get through this play off, unseeded, with teams like Italy and Portugal floating about in it I’d argue it would rival getting to the semis of the Euros. WC qualifying is just so hard for teams like us.

So if Hungary win does that mean a draw is enough tomorrow? Or has the Scotland result effectively ended our chances of a draw being of any use?

Hey it's our own fault, we drew 0-0 to Estonia, let's just hope that we learn from that because it's cost us in this situation

Get in there Hungary!
So long as Turkey don't beat Montenegro by 4, a draw against Belgium is enough for a home tie. No pressure lads.

So can someone clarify how many teams actually go through from these play offs? Three I think, the teams are drawn into blocks of four with one off game semi finals and final, so even if we are seeded the chances are we would probably face Italy or Portugal in the final. I’m reminded of the Euro 2004 play off draw which was unseeded but, miraculously, the strongest teams were all drawn against the weakest. Basically, I wouldn’t put any money on Italy and Portugal being drawn in the same group of 4.
