Of course it is. Shit, odds are we will need to beat Portugal or Italy to qualify then. I would take Portugal over Italy, but the chances of us now qualifying are... slim So long as we are seeded, we can only play them in the final, with 3 of the 5 potential final opposition combinations not having them in. Really important we get seeded. The odds are slim if we are away in the semi, give ourselves a big boost by avoiding defeat tomorrow.

66% of us drawing at least one of them in our block if we're unseeded, that reduces to 20% if we're seeded. How does that work? I'm talking about the chances of us facing them in the finals or semi final. Surely the chances of them being in our block remains the same if we're seeded or unseeded? Because there'd only be one seeded spot left. I've cocked it up though, it's 40% if we're seeded as there's 2 teams to consider.

Not surprising to see Scotland beat Denmark, they are a very good outfit at the moment. I said on here earlier in the year that they would beat us if we faced them any time soon, and tonight confirms that. They are where we were in 2016.
I hope we can match their performance by scalping Belgium tomorrow, but it's a lot to ask.

So for all those questioning the importance of tomorrow's game, it's now doubly important. It's the difference between having a semi final opponent we're likely to lose against vs one we should beat AND it significantly reduces the likelihood of having to play against Portugal or Italy.

Even with all their 'big names' out, their squad is still miles better than what we have unfortunately. Every single player is top flight, and their young guys will be out to prove a point themselves. We also don't have a fit Bale, and probably not a 100% match fit Ramsey.

I’m confident we can get a result tomorrow but to downplay that Belgian side is ludicrous. De Bruyne, T. Hazard, Meunier, Carrasco, Castagne, Witsel, Benteke, Mertens can all cause us trouble. Got some big names out which is a huge help but still gonna be a very tough outing for us.

Guys a lot of negativity on here. That Hungary winner was magic!!! Turkey aren’t winning by a 4 goal margin in Montenegro.

Yeah the way it’s played out, imo, an unseeded play off place is nothing to celebrate really because with the big teams who have fucked up being at home it’s just not much of a result really. We have to be seeded. That being said it’s yet again more fellating of the big teams because a seeded draw rewards the big teams who will have undoubtedly racked up a high points total even if they don’t finish top.

Hopefully - recent Montenegro results include the 2-2 home draw with the Netherlands the other day which (hopefully only) delayed the Dutch winning the group. Also, I think it was 2-2 when Turkey were the home team Vs M in September.

Considering those 99.4% odds, surely that means that the only way we dont get to be a home side if we do draw tomorrow is if BOTH Turkey AND Norway win by 3 and 4 goals??

Also, I think it was 2-2 when Turkey were the home team Vs M in September. Yes Turkey only drew 2-2 at home against Montenegro. Will take a perfect performance from the Turks to win 4-0 on their patch I think. Looking at Montenegro results, they don't get thrashed often. Going to get nervy though if Turkey are 2-0 up with plenty of time to go... I believe we can win tomorrow so let's hope the Turkey game doesn't matter.

Crikey, it's really hard to believe we can be one of three teams to qualify from that list...... Yeah like a say, it will be a massive achievement. It’s just so tough, especially when it’s not a European World Cup and other European allocation is the one to get cut to accommodate the home nation

I'm absolutely desperate to get to a WC, but I'm not annoyed that it is so difficult - it should be. Around a quarter of European sides do qualify, and I don't think it should be higher than that. It will just make it all the sweeter when we do qualify, as we eventually will.

It’s almost a competition and achievement in itself for us. That being said for me qualifying this time round is the be all and end all. I detest the idea of a Qatar World Cup in winter.

I really hope we do it and get through that absolute nightmare of a play off system. That said, if we don't I will console myself with the knowledge that it is going to be a truly awful World Cup at the wrong time of year in completely the wrong country

You could say similar about Denmark tonight and they put in one of the most disjointed, rubbish performances you're ever likely to see at this level Scotland weren't great, they're very much a beatable side and their win should give us even more hope of pulling off an upset

A number of sides can under no circumstances be seeded in the playoffs (North Macedonia, Austria, Finland/Ukraine)

If we're seeded, the dream draw has to be North Macedonia in the semi final, with Scotland and Finland on the other side of the draw. Yep it's possible too!

Ultimately, if you want to achieve anything as a nation you will inevitably come across a defining moment. In 2016 it was beating Belgium at home, it elevated us and poured belief into our fans and players
In the Giggs/Page era, we have so far failed to beat a big team. If we wish to go to a World Cup we can't just sit back and hope we get there by avoiding having to win a big game. For me, the marker that's going to define this group is tomorrow night
We play an under-strength, under-motivated Belgium at home under the lights in front of a full house. The time is now to pull off a victory. If we fail to win we have to grit out a draw, and there's no reason we can't when you look at Scotland's result tonight
If we don't achieve the result we need, and we lose the game, we can't honestly say we deserve to reach a World Cup in my view. Yes we will still have a playoff, but most of the teams we will play will be a bigger ask than getting a result tomorrow night
If we win, belief will elevate once again at just the right moment. We will go into these playoffs with a spring in our step, and even if we have the misfortune of drawing a big team, we know we have a result against Belgium to give us confidence to pull off a 90 min result
Tomorrow is the acid test for me, and I think we will do it. I can see us going ahead and holding out for a win
