I'm trying to establish the easiest transport mode from Brussels airport to Lille on the Wednesday 15th June day before the England match without having to go into Brussels itself.
Euro start tickets are £50 one-way from Brussels centre. A less hassle option is to book a private cab for around 130euros for up to 4 persons, one way.
Has any one any suggestions?
also-
Is anyone on the Brussels airline flight from Manchester (Wednesday the 15th of June) arriving at 13.05 travelling on to Lille or even Lens? There's two of us, possibly we could arrange to organise a mini bus if there are enough numbers.

I think the vast majority would go via Central Brussels (Midi). It's not a huge hassle (although can be quite expensive if not booked in advance), The airport express train takes into the centre and from there you can take the train to Lille.
Alternatively there are trains that go to the North of Belgium from Brussels airport. Have a look at getting a train from Brussels airport to Ghent. Then a train or bus from Ghent to Lille.

+1 to gwernybwch's advice. All the faster trains from Brussels town go via Ghent anyway. There is really no point trying to reach Charleroi only to catch a cheap bus from there... I'd say 1pm is really plenty of time to catch a train to Ghent and even leave your baggage at the train station and spend a few hours there before carrying on to Lille. If you prefer saving money, a FLIXBUS from Ghent to Lille is only 10€ and there are three departures that afternoon! The 5pm dept is the fastest, at only an hour! ... If you are in PARTY mood and fancy a night in Brussels before the game, there is a 10€ FlixBus that goes from Brussels North to Lille on 16 June at 03.50am and arrives Lille at 05.30am ... Try this link if interested

... just noticed a cheaper option for you - if you decide you don't mind going into Brussels. Take the metro into downtown, check out the stunning Grand Place and then catch the QuiBus (the National French arm of the SNCF) at 6.20pm arriving Lille at 7.50pm - 9€ Try this link

I thought that the only direct way was on the extortionately priced 'express' train?

Its € 8,60 on the train. There is also a public bus that goes to Brussel4s for €4 - but it is very slow and takes about an hour. The locals tend to take the bus to ZAVENTEM town (10 minutes, €2) and then hop on to the regular train to Brussels for only €2.10 ...

Thanks to you who provided info on this link- We have pre booked a taxi from the airport to take us to Lille at cost of 130 euros (one way) far less hassle than the train and much better value for money than euro star at £50 each for a 36 minute journey.

I can see that there are lines 272 and 471 that run from the airport to Brussels North train station, but they don't seem to run very regularly in the evening.

I have used both those buses before. But they are really very slow, stop everywhere, and take about an hour (and even longer in traffic). Sorry, I never did the local Zaventam bus ride before. But the ground level bus station should be busy enogh with people to ask...
