What's the protocol for God save the queen? 1) ignore 2)boo and sit 3)boo and stand

as they are the official 'hosts' our anthem goes first. as they are more than likely to boo, we should show the world that we are better than that! if indeed they do boo, we should stand and turn around in total silence! A Welsh Poznan of sorts...
There is a longer thread about this already - HERE

I think booing a national anthem is disrespectful.
I don't have any attachment to that anthem and I don't like it.
I will follow a silent stand up approach.
However, we are 'away' in this game so our anthem will be first. My approach may change if they boo ours!

For those of you who don't have England tickets and still have an urge to hear that anthem ... I just so happen to have a ticket for NI v Ukraine at 6pm on the same day - will give you the pleasure of hearing it twice!

All depends on what they do when ours played. Cant see them being silent to be honest. Just ignore like I would any other anthem

Ive always sat down and stayed silent at every sports event I've been to where that anthem has been played
And if I was going to the england game I would do exactly the same
I can't stand their anthem but I wouldn't waste my energy in standing and booing it

I, fortunately, will be at the game but I do hope that either the BBC can be even in both the commentary and the in studio pundits or they have dual broadcasts.
For them to be England-centric would be really bad and infuriating for the Welsh fans at home.

Luckily I won't see it as I will be in France :-)

Silence.
Booing an anthem is just pathetic. Even that one!
If they boo ours first, fuck 'em. Why act the same way as them?
I want us to show some class.

If they don't boo ours, don't boo theirs. If they boo ours, I would love to do the poznan.

How likely is it that they'll boo ours?
I'm not that sure that they will. They only booed it in Cardiff in 2011 because we booed GSTQ, but when we went first at Wembley in the return game, they didn't.

I wIll hopefully be watching the game in Touoluse. It's my hope we give a really good account of ourselves (team and fans) in Bordeaux and the French and the neutrals embrace us as their second team. Showing some class in Lens will do us more good than harm.
The French don't like les rosbifs! I was in Brittany a few years ago shopping in a craft market with er indoors and the kids, when this French stall holder and his colleagues started to speak to me. I don't speak French, but I just about remembered enough to be able to tell him politely that I didnt speak French. He looked at his mate and said "Anglais" and he had a look of disgust on his face. I then replied (in best 1st year it secondary school French) that I wasn't Anglais and that I was Welsh, this drew a completely different response, first was the hand shake, then the embrace followed by the customary peck on the cheeks and he was nice as pie to us all. They couldnt do enough for us. That's the way I'd like the French to treat us Wales fans next month!

I take it most of you on here with tickets for this game are in the FAW Wales end? You'll be safe there. I managed to get hold of two tickets but they're in the mixed section Cat 2. I'm going to wait and see what happens on the day before I decide what to do re anthem. Depending on how many English fans I'm surrounded by, and whether they boo or not. I'll probably stand and keep quiet, but if they take the piss in my vicinity I'll definitely be turning my back and keeping silent. Won't be booing though. Let the world see how disrespectful those England fans are. Let's not behave the same way as those 'orrible c***s.

I read this thread just before giving my 6-year-old son his bath. As I tend to do, I was humming a random tune while I washed his hair, when he asked, "What's that song?"
Bloody Apostle!

Seriously I would love to see us all stand and turn around in total silence. But there are going to be some idiots that are going to want to boo GSTQ. All I can see that doing is giving further motivation to Wayne Rooney et al :-(

No booing Just sit down and ignore it Wise words. We (Cardiff Fans) had this dilemma in the FAC Final and I don't mean 1927 As far as I remember GSTQ wasn't booed a lot) and I thought it was the right way to go. Perfect scenario is that they boo our anthem and we ignore theirs. I really can't predict what kind of day this is going to be. Part of me thinks maybe it'll be generally peaceful, you'll always get the odd bit of trouble and memorable for the right reasons. Then the more I think of it the more I think it's going to be carnage due to the size of the town and the lack of segregation before the game. Doesnt bare thinking about both sets of fans getting on trains, ferries and planes together especially afterwards if it's not a draw. Fingers Crossed

Great idea but my keyboards are too big and not flame retardant so couldn't possibly get them into the ground. Also, is it cool to black up these days? I heard it was frowned upon now. Wouldn't want to offend anyone.

I just fancied the idea of thousands of Welsh fans having an impromptu disco in the stand while the English sing thier dirge. Just for contrast like.
