Anyone else struggling to find accommodation in Lille? We need somewhere for 4 of us that isn't miles outside the centre as we arrive at 5pm and still need to collect tickets. The hotel situation is incredible, never seen anything like it!
If anyone has any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated!

How are you arriving?
If you're getting a ferry over, the best place I found was actually Dunkirk - a couple of "Premiere Classe" hotels had rooms around £30 and other budget hotels at similar prices (although be warned that Premiere Classe is extremely basic to stay the least!).
Lille - and the surrounding area - is all booked up because there is a centenary event for the Battle of the Somme in addition to the match. I understand that Wonky Sheep's overnight trips are actually staying in Bruges!
Finally, check with manulike as he is the youth hostel expert here but I'm sure I saw someone mention rooms there were pretty cheap, so long as you're willing to share a room with complete strangers.

That finally makes sense why i couldn't find anything at all! Excellent organisation from UEFA (as per usual) to stick a quarter final there at the same time!
We're getting a ferry to Calais and we've booked a return train to Calais for the Saturday morning. Never expected to have these issues with accommodation, never experienced anything like it.
I've had a look at hostels and can't find anything as yet. I'm more than happy to slum it!! Just want to be able to get some sleep and a shower.

Adds about a 20-30 minute detour to your journey but you should still have time to collect your tickets, and you'll have a quick drive to Calais the next morning. Are you driving on to the game in Lille? Drop me a PM for some tips - we went to Russia V Slovakia there the day before the England game by car

We're not actually driving in France so it's not really an option unfortunately. We've booked a train from Calais to Lille following our ferry over as foot passengers. I'm sure I'll find something!
Thanks for the advice!

I didn't get a chance to look at work today but when I got home and had a look, there wasn't much. I tried to book a couple but they had already been taken. Just booked a hotel in Roubaix now, which is a few miles out. Just glad it's sorted! Thanks for the suggestion.

Airbnb had loads earlier. Sent about ten messages and had four pre approved reservations. Plenty new on there as well, looks like people are looking to cash in on the match being there. Not that it's overly expensive... Worth a look!

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions guys. The main issue is that there is 4 of us but I've managed to book a hotel in Roubaix, which is about 20 mins from the centre on the metro - happy days!
