Any ideas on transport from Geneva airport to Lyon after 9pm. Flight doesn't get in until 8.3pm and public transport stops early evening. Private transfers expensive & don't fancy driving. Any advice appreciated.

Leaving Geneva 05/07 20:00 to Lyon
Returning to Geneva 07/07 16:55 Gatwick flight

We're flying into Geneva from London City latish on the Tuesday. We just going to have a night there and get the train to Lyon in the morning. We've got friends flying into Geneva on the wed morning so we'll just wait for them. The biggest issue at the moment seems to be accommodation in Lyon. Hardly anything available. I wasn't expecting that to be honest. Portugal don't travel in huge numbers and Lyon is a big city.

Landing at around 8.30pm on flight from Luton. There's 2 of us. Looking at digs for 1 night in Geneva at the moment.

Forgot to say arriving on the Tuesday 5th. We have digs in Lyon for 2 nights but would look to change for 1 night only if we had to book an overnight stay in Geneva. Catching train into Lyon was our plan.

I land at 10:40 in Geneva on Tuesday night. Staying in town that night then train Wednesday morning to Lyon is £23 each way.
Be good if there was a gathering of Welsh in Geneva on Tuesday night.

Train to Lyon on Wednesday midday, staying in Lyon Wednesday night... If anyone has any suggestions of a tidy pub to meet in , please post it on this thread? Cheers |

I'm flying into Geneva for 12.10pm on Wed , if anybody has a space in a car share I'm happy to pay my way Three of us have are landing in Geneva 4pm Wed and have booked a hire car, can give you a lift if you want. We are going back to Geneva straight after the game as we are flying back 5am |

Anybody know which website you can use to book the train tickets in advance? I tried to book on voyages-sncf but it kept telling me because I was within 7 days of travel they couldn't deliver the tickets so I couldn't complete the transaction. Is there anyway to book and pickup at the station? |

There's a place in the main bar area of town (Paquis)called the Jack of Hearts. I was there a couple of years ago it's a great pub.
Its a good town but beware though- Geneva is the most expensive city I've ever been to (including the Scandinavian countries)
