Sion came off the bench tonight to score a brace as he helped Bristol Rovers come back from 3-1 down in extra time to win 4-3 against Oxford in the FA Cup. Paul Bodin's son, Billy, got on the scoresheet for Oxford, so if you were watching your son, Paul, I hope you took note of Sion!

Didn't Spence withdraw from the latest squad though? Not great after the recent comments about how he 'doesn't want to go away with Wales'. Questionable attitude imo.

Is trying to fight for a spot in the first team rather than going away for youth games really questionable? Surely a season in Bristol Rovers' first team would be better for his development than sitting on the bench against Switzerland U21s?

Lot's of our young players are fighting for spots in their respective teams, so if that's the attitude, why should any of them turn up?

Because most aren't in the same position as Spence? The vast majority of our squad are youth players in the top 2 tiers so have no worries about missing a game to play with the u21s, Spence on the other hand is 21 and on the fringes of Bristol Rovers' team, he really needs first team football and if he can get into the Rovers team off the back of his goals then its a lot better for his long term development than sitting on the bench for Wales would have been Based on what's been said about Barton it wouldn't shock me if he had something to do with it either

Waste of time this loan - barely kicked a football for them. Should've left to go elsewhere in January. Not sure why Palace didn't recall him.

What's going on with him? Seems to have had an impact when he's played and it's hardly like Rovers are having the best season

Released by Palace. Can't see him going back to Rovers.

Released by Palace. Can't see him going back to Rovers. Pretty much written off by Barton despite a great goals to minutes ratio in his short appearance time so there could be an issue there somewhere with attitude, fitness or whatever. Although Rovers were in exceptional form since Christmas and he was never likely to get a look in from that point on. One thing that seems definitely true is that he has been very badly advised. Dropped out of the under 21s, presumably at Barton’s urging, Barton then goes public about it….but doesn’t play him. So he’s fucked his club career and his international one by listening to a snake like Barton. He’s possibly going to end up a poor man’s Ben Woodburn…

Craig Bellamy described him as the best talent he’s seen in years, when he was working with the academy.
Poor decision to drop down to Bristol rovers and another lad with attitude problems. Rovers fans described him as a very lightweight

Brother plays for Newport and shares the same name as one of my idols from a classic British cop show of the 70&80's.

Collins, not much liked initially due to his poor shooting but eventually got his eye in and now something of a cult figure

Signed for Gloucester City in the National League North. Disappointing that he's had to drop that low down the pyramid. Thought he'd at least get a move to the National League or even League Two. I hoped Newport might go after him considering the Rowberry connection. He'll have to do very well to work his way back up to the EFL from that level.
Interestingly, fellow former Cardiff City youth player Tommy O'Sullivan is currently at Gloucester. Seem to remember he was highly rated at one point.

That's very disappointing, he was rated as highly (even higher) than Matondo was at Cardiff There are rumours that Charlie Crew, who played for Cardiff u23s at 15 last season, has gone to Leeds

He's not going to Qatar then.
I'm going to keep tabs on his career because I love a good comeback story and others have gone lower before achieving great things.

Looks like Cardiff's decision to release him is justified at this point Spence turned down a contract as there was no path to the first team, Cardiff wanted to keep him
