Why can’t a Swansea lad who plays for his club also support the team? It’s not as if he was making any gestures against Cardiff anyway unlike McBurnie and Trundle and Tate before him? I’m a Cardiff fan myself and starting this thread was all about silly over a non-event I will support Rodon whenever he plays for Wales. Doesn’t matter where his club allegiances are. That is Together Stronger my friend There's a video of him starting a chant "Cardiff get battered everywhere they go". Cardiff fans will not like that.

His brother Sam is a wild one. Could have been a decent player himself but didn't fancy the lifestyle. Joe seems the most sensible of that particular group. Is his brother the one in the white jacket? Yeah. Him and Oli and a few other local lads are thick as thieves. The other former u23s boys with us don't seem to have been dragged into the same culture, thankfully. Connor, DJ etc. a fair bit more professional in how they conduct themselves off the field.

Good on the lad, we need more of it and more nastiness back in the derby. Won't stop us cheering him on when he's in a Wales shirt. That said McBurnie is the biggest c*nt since Trundle and who's the wanker in the White coat?!?!

He actually looks embarrassed doing it

People complain that players are too remote.
People complain when players get involved with the fans.
People just like complaining.

I’m not bothered by it as he is a boyhood Swansea fan but some will see it as ammo, not saying it’s right, but it will happen no doubt

Just about everyone on the Cardiff forums and on Twitter are saying that this doesn’t bother them.
Yet there are loads on Twitter saying that they can’t take banter and calling Cardiff fans snowflakes, even though Cardiff fans in the main aren’t in the least bit bothered about it.

When so many people are talking about how they aren't bothered... Because there are a lot of media trying to claim that Cardiff fans are bothered when most aren’t

Interesting to see Rodon play on the right side of the centre half duo yesterday. Partly at fault for the Preston goal (mainly Grimes and Guehi), but otherwise an excellent performance, especially considering how long he's been out. Hopefully, he'll get a few more games on the right side of defence before the end of the season. This could pave the way for a Rodon Williams partnership, which I think is our best combination going into the tournament as things stand. The right blend of physicality and experience (Williams) with pace, height and ball-playing ability in Rodon. If Chester gets the game time and excels for Stoke then he could provide a strong challenge to Williams' place, with Rodon reverting to the left of the defence.

Always played right side for Swansea & Wales age groups. According to his dad there were serious doubts over his ability to play on the left at the start of last season, and Potter was searching for a left-sided replacement until the day he departed (and then signed Matt Clarke for his new club after being seen on Sky watching him while still Swans manager).
Guehi's the only one at the club at the moment who doesn't seem to prefer to play on the right. If he keeps his place Joe will get games there, if anyone else swaps in he'll be back on the left.

Did Rodon play on the right when he played alongside Mepham in the U23s? Does this mean that Mepham would prefer/could play on the left side of a renewed partnership at national level?

He played on the left fairly often for Brentford from what (little) I remember.

Rumours about Man City. Good move or bad move? History says bad but I'm guessing they would agree to loan back for one year?

If they're signing him it won't be to loan him out, he's ready for the Prem will be nearly 23 by the season starts and could go to a Premier League club where he'll play if they're only offering him an immediate loan.
History says it would be a good move for him though, Guardiola improves all of his players, and he'd have some of the best coaching and facilities in the world.

I don't think there's a single Swans fans who thinks he'll still be at the club next season. It's in everybody's interests for him to have a fantastic season end, a brilliant Euros and a £50 million move to Man City, where he'll slot straight into the starting eleven. One can but dream...

The only reason he's still with us is because he's had convenient injuries before transfer windows. We've done very well to keep him for as long as we have.

It's not worked out badly for Cymru either. Had he moved earlier he may not have got the game time to justify his inclusion in the side in the Autumn fixtures. With a bit of luck he will also be well-rested and in peak condition for the Euros.

Off the top of my head there are not many 22 Year old starters at CB in the Premier league. Its no age for that position at the top level. There's no way he walks straight into the Man City starting XI.

He's not necessarily walking straight in their starting eleven, but if he goes there it's to be a part of their squad as the fourth choice centre back. There's no point him going if he's just going to be loaned back out to the Championship, because he's Premier League all over.

Slightly concerned about his injuries. He's had two long-term layoffs these past two seasons after a stretch of games. Not sure if anyone else listened to the most recent Coleman had a dream podcast, but their sources (no idea how realisable they are) were saying that a move to Leicester was a done deal before the latest injury, but they then pulled out. So there's a concern that Leicester may have done a medical on him and identified an underlying weakness which may give him injury problems for the rest of his career

The second we all saw coming from a mile away because he was playing through pain and even finished that final game. His injury record in development football was really good, not seeing any pattern there. Conspiracy theories.

The second we all saw coming from a mile away because he was playing through pain and even finished that final game. His injury record in development football was really good, not seeing any pattern there. Conspiracy theories. As I say, no idea how reliable the Leicester done deal rumour is and the reason for them pulling out was just pure speculation, so there's a good chance he isn't injury prone at all and just been unlucky these past two seasons. I'll feel better once he goes through a season of senior footie without a long layoff. As for the man city rumour, I'm not sure that would be a good move. I think John Stone gets unfair stick, he's actually a very good defender imo. He has all the attributes needed, the only reason he gets stick is because he has the odd howler every now and again when trying to play out from the back. Ironically, Rodon's had those exact same criticisms on a couple of occasions already. I really rate rodon, but let's not underestimate how good stones and otamendi are - there's a reason they both signed for 50m and 35m respectively. Pep seems to have lost faith in them and the fans done the same, it's extremely unforgiving up there. So in time I would be surprised if Rodon didn't get the same treatment after a howler or two.
