Meyler and McClean knew exactly what they were doing, dirty bastards
Joe was running the game and Ireland knew if you take him out then you force Ramsey deeper and Wales don't play as well, these kinds of tactics are a throwback and it was so obviously pre-meditated (Roy Keane definitely had a part to play) that I'm shocked the ref didn't even see it fit to book one of them
Anyway, good luck to Ireland in the playoffs, your fans were great (although one I spoke to in the pub said "We're fucked" regarding Ireland's chances in the Playoffs)

Spot on tactics from Ireland. Allen ran the show first half. Simply take him out the game and Wales become less effective.

Disgraceful, Meyler is looking nowhere near the ball.

I can't see 100% intent there.

Having seen the incident again it's nowhere near as bad as being made out. Just very unfortunate. They wanted a physical game and got one, it's the only way they know how to play.

He may not have intended to concuss Allen but Meyler went for him and not the ball and he's lucky it wasn't a lot worse.
Same goes for the challenge on Hennessy at the end. No intention of getting the ball. Dirty fecker.

Meyler led with the elbow there but didn't make contact with Allen's face. There's clear intent, though. At the end of the day, it's gone. Let it go.

Those commentators should be ashamed, openly laughing at a player being concussed by two thugs

This is the thing though, by 'letting it go' this style of play does not get stamped out of the game. Now this isn't going to get us to the World Cup, but can the FAW appeal to FIFA about the way the Irish played vs us in both games?

Nothing done on purpose with that tackle. We had bad luck with Bale and Allen but ROI had their injury list too. They go to the playoffs and we don't. They have a World Cup pedigree and we don't.

Im seething looking at that footage again.
Mclean the ugly prick shoulder barges allen in the back then meyler comes in no eyes on the ball and smashes into him. Disgraceful anti football caveman bollocks.
Complete bloody joke of a ref.

It's not a coincidence that our worst performances happen in these Derby games. Refs allow too many things to go which crocks our best players.

Shite ref in both games who only encouraged anti-football. The ref had to be ready for this after the first fixture got well out of hand. You cannot let dangerous fouls go unpunished, no matter what the FIFA directive is. It's bad for football and outright dangerous. Both shouldn't get anywhere near officiating an international game again.
I've never been so bitter following a football match and I've never been such a sore loser. But there was no chance in hell Ireland were good for their four points. We deserved four points over the two games. Think Ireland fixtures in the future are likely to carry a edge with them from now on. I used to have a soft spot for them, but while Keane is there and they play thuggish garbage like they do, it will be karmic when it bites them in that butt.

The World Cup is your chance to see the greatest footballers on earth come up against each other. Now instead of Joe Allen working hard in midfield you could see Ronaldo and Messi get pushed by McClean into Meyler and Whelan swinging an elbow at them, not to mention Brady being investigated for a headbut on Williams. We've come a long way in protecting players but the referee giving the benefit of the doubt needs to stop. Why McClean stayed on the pitch after that foul in the last minute on Jonny Williams was shocking and summed the referee up perfectly.

Then the challenge on Hennessy afterwards. It's not right that they will be able to play in the playoffs. I didn't think the Allen challenge was a red at the time because I didn't have the benefit of TV replays, but that could easily be a red too.

I got to be honest if I was a referee I'd look at the Allen one and if I didn't see the push I'd think 3 players going in for a ball that's dropping, there's always a chance for a collision so potentially let that go. The Hennessey one I'd think the players probably thinking if I can slide in here before the keeper the games won so potentially let that go as well. But when you see a 6 foot player shoulder charging a 5 foot player in the back at full force when he's trying to shield the ball there's no excuse. He's gone in to hurt the lad plain and simple.

Maybe the Allen challenge was just a yellow. (No booking). But here's another straight red... m.bbc.com/sport/football/41573539My count is three nailed on reds in the match. The only red over the two games was (rightfully) for Taylor then. OK.

The tackle on Allen was completely unintentional. Allen is no shrinking violet himself - he caught Meyler with a bad tackle earlier in the game.
Last night was Ireland's night and I don't think Allen would have made a difference. He might have added to the posession stats, but the one thing we've learned from 180 minutes of football between these two teams is that Wales don't have much in the way of penetration. Reminiscent of Van Gaal's United or De Boer's Crystal Palace.

I'm astonished with the indiscipline during the game last night.
The reckless tackle on Coleman wasn't of malicious intent but it still merited a red. The challenge on Allen was similarly reckless.
And to add to that, further challenges on Hennessey of all people and a kick to Ramsay's stomach. How on earth did that not warrant at least a yellow?
We also saw frequent incidents of time wasting, more pronounced than I have ever seen before during an international game.
I sensed that Ireland were feeling rather threatened at the start of the game, owing to the amount of possession that we had (86% in the first fifteen minutes).
These kind of tactics seem very prominent amongst underachieving teams.
I saw someone tweet on Barry Horns' twitter page last night that some people sitting near the dug outs had heard Keane stating "take him out" and "get down, stay down". I can't comment on the veracity of these statements so I'm wondering if there are people on here who sat near those areas. If there is evidence of this, FIFA should be getting involved. This kind of thing needs sorting out.

I agree that Taylor and Bale were reckless in Dublin, however you guys cannot even admit to yourselves that thuggery is part of your game. Do you not see that your play is thuggery or not? The irony is that you're referring to so-called Irish thuggery, whilst ignoring Welsh thuggery. After the Dublin game, Welsh fans justified the actions of Bale and Taylor by saying that Irelabd set the tone with rough tactics early on. You don't hear Irish fans bleating on about how Wales set the tone last night with Allen's late tackle on Meyler. You need to get over it Dai. Your team was beaten fairly and squarely. Wales had 3 hours of football and couldn't score.
