I like the white shorts and socks but it's a very plain design, they could have easily added a few little touches to it to make it nicer ie. text at the back of the neck or a symbol like they did with the last one. I say all this, I'll probably buy it!

Same template as Scotland

I like it. The yellow and red kit had quite a lot going on so quite happy to get a bit of a plain one. Not something that tells a story or is a throwback, just a Wales shirt.
The only things I hope is that the Adidas logo and badge are a lot higher up. Looks a bit of a weird position on the solo picture.

Not a fan of this one. The way it’s worded makes it seem like it’s women’s only kit? It's not. This is the new men's kit aswell, just been released today for International Women's Day Is this a fact? Oddly they have the womens and youth versions for sale on JD but not the mens.

I thought all the Adidas men's kits were supposed to be released in April. The World Cup kits.

I would love it if they made a huge song and dance about our official kit launch and it ends up being exactly the same as they launched for the women's teams. It does seem very bizarre that Mooney was promoting all these crazy retro kits and they launch a plain new one. Would anyone have any issues with the male and females being different? I think it would be a bit of a step back and be a bit bad for female fans. I see loads of females wearing our shirt, for it to either be the mens shirt or wear a female one to the mens matches and not match the team seems a needlessly strange position to be in.

If they made it look a little more retro I think I'd really like it, but will wait and see what I think once I've seen it in person. Just looks like a training kit to me

I'm pretty certain that what we've seen is the men's shirt. I have a feeling that what Mooney was tweeting about might be to do with the away kit and possible third kit designs, otherwise it's a very weird thing for him to do given what has been served up for the home shirt, it's nothing like either shirt he referenced.

Scotland also released theirs. I think it’s more to do with international womens day and the euros for them being in the summer, so new kits.

According to somebody in the FAW I heard from yes it is. They will be launching the men's version at a later date

It really looks to me like they have gone for a low effort design that can be knocked out cheaply and when you think that other teams have got the same template you start to realise that it’s all about making as much money as possible for as little effort and production cost as possible.
It’s obviously just economies of scale at work: The smaller teams (in terms of sales) will probably have the most basic shirt design shared among them, still with an exorbitant RRP and the teams with a bigger market share might have a more bespoke and exotic effort done for them.
So yeah, it’s just got a real “we can’t be arsed” vibe about that design. Going by the green and white fan design on the previous page we’d be better off getting fans involved and trying to produce our own shirts.

Like you say we're just not 'big' enough to justify anything above the standard Adidas template. Sad times. Hopefully we might get something different for the away kit but assume that too will just be a standard Adidas template in a different colour

Mooney’s been a bit weird over the kit on Twitter tbh. Teased everyone and then came up with a training top look for the women’s team. Not funny that. But unprofessional from the CEO.

Not sure what the problem is? It's the template. Germany, Belgium, Spain all had variations of the same template as us in the Euros.
Germany's away kit was basically the same as our home kit but completely black and with German flag sleeve cuffs.

That was a bit weird. The only thing I can think of is that he's only recently discovered them and thought, like all of us, that they're class. Fans have been calling for those sorts of retro shirts to be brought back for years, even though there's little prospect of it happening.

Germany's away kit was basically the same as our home kit but completely black and with German flag sleeve cuffs. The problem (for some of us!) is that it’s just dull. A 10 year old could have come up with it in Microsoft paint in about 30 minutes. The last adidas one was much the same. We used to have nods to previous kits or elements that made the design Welsh (green pin stripe, yellow vertical stripe etc) but this one and the last one have been plain red with nothing distinguishing about them. I think what makes it harder for the manufacturers is that there is software now for fans to make their own designs and both at club and international level the fan made designs just highlight how low effort some of the major kit manufacturers are.

I loved the last home shirt so much I bought three of them and I got the away too. I always buy our shirts so I can't see me missing this one but right now it feels vastly inferior to the absolute work of art, in my opinion, that was the last one.

I did think that too. Seemed like he was setting the stage for a retro throwback before pulling a 180 on it. I doubt that is the case though as he was probably overseeing the design process for weeks.

I'll be honest I wasn't a fan of the red and yellow and I quite like this one. Still bought it though.

Based on Mooney's chat on EJFOF (around 36 min mark), sounds like the men's kit will be different to the women's? Mentions trialing 'bespoke' kits for women's team.

I wouldn't get your hopes up, the kids one on sale on JD is the same as the one the women have been modelling, I think it would be a bit of a strange move to make the men's kit different to the kids one, no disrespect to the women's side but most kids wanting that shirt are far more likely to be Gareth Bale in the playground than Jess Fishlock.

But that comes at a cost doesn’t it? I’m sure I’ve read that at club level Adidas have certain requirements based around merchandise sales in club shops that mean that if you get into bed with them you really have to scratch their back (for want of a better phrase). It’s not a simple case that they just produce you a shirt, you buy a load of stock and then flog it as best you can. If they produced high quality kit designs then it would be worth it….

Happy to hear on feast of football that there is a different kit for the men’s squad. Not keen on the released one myself but hope they shift some to support the ladies team

Although I don't agree I'm a big fan of this response, pulled no punches! The Macron kits for Wrexham this season have been fairly decent and I like what they've done for the Rugby team, the attention to detail has definitely upped with their designs.
