Glad to hear that, as Jonny is starting today in the Carabao cup. Not an amazing performance, but the match pace is really slow. Noce to see so many Welshmen in Swansea white ;-)
Hope Wilson is in the squad ;-)

A little bit misinformed on this one were we?! Well ... ds reported it last week... Good to see him back ahead of schedule. Played 75 minutes - didn't really shine or put himself about in the way he normally does when he wears the red of wales...
Declan had a cracking game. Wouldn't be surprised if he has played himself into Swansea 11 for the weekend as well as the Wales 23. James also had a decent game. Put himself about a lot, with plenty of running off the ball. Had three excellent chances that he should have really scored at least one or two from. Harries and Cooper were solid and Liam Cullen came on for last 20 minutes and also had a few great sparks of genius. There is a lot of promise in this Swansea side ;-)

I thought Jonny did well! Although, as you say, he didn't keep himself as busy as he usually does. I slightly disagree on declan john, thought he was quite sloppy at times, and Cullen was dominated by their fullback when he came on. On the other hand, Dan James really surprised me, I thought he was really bright all game and was by far Swansea's most threatening player. Perhaps he should have done better with a couple of chances but he created those for himself by making excellent runs all game. I was impressed by Harries too, particularly his quality on the ball with a couple of really nice, 20-yard low passes into the forwards coming to mind.

If Ampadu starts, for me, it HAS to be in holding midfield. That's where he has MOSTLY played for Chelsea (certainly can't remember him starting a competitive game at CB). I'm pretty sure Ampadu has only played as a centre back for Chelsea. His debut was as a sub defender and his full debut was as a defender

On paper we have a fairly solid defence alright, but we are devoid of creativity in midfield. Up front...holy god. Shane Long can't hit a barn door. Walters has no legs. Graham Burke has 1 cap (1 goal too in fairness). Robinson is a new cap. You guys need to press us high. Every team who presses us reap the rewards. As our players are obviously playing to no game plan, any sign of pressure will result in the ball being hoofed forward. Personally, I think it is yours to lose. If you guys can remain calm, knock the ball around and not get involved in a dogfight, I think you may win by the odd goal. Out of that squad that you've put out, I'd have 3 of your defenders and probably Jeff Hendrick in our starting lineup. I'm surprised by how poor it is this time around, but I still fully expect your shithouse tactics will still make it a close game.

GK: Hennessey, Ward, Maxwell
DF: Gunter, Roberts, Mepham, Chester, Williams, Rodon, Ampadu, Davies, John
MF: Ledley, Ramsey, Allen, Evans, King, Brooks, Lawrence, Wilson
FW: Bale, Woodburn, Vokes
Smith and Edwards as back ups if Ledley and Wilson aren't fit. I'll go with John over Dummett due to the quality of performances in a Welsh shirt.

Can't believe HRK isn't getting a mention. Averaging a goal every 64 minutes so far this season...

Special train from Holyhead one sale tommorow 1200 Eticketing Have to say, it's cutting it rather fine leaving it until today to announce the train schedule for this event. Some had to take a chance on booking them much sooner as discounted prices for some routes sold out last week.

Just booked the train, £50 return, not leaving Fflint until 13:10 so can also work a half day. Back home for 02:30.
Let the train, take the strain.

So many interesting possibilities from this squad, surely ticket sales will pick up for the home game. I'm looking forward to it!. I reckon the relatively poor ticket sales is due to a lack of understanding of the Euro League Nations and has little to do with support of the team. I think people just haven't gotten round to seeing this as anything more than a "pointless friendly", and I've seen little marketing of it. If it turns out to be a success, people will soon change their tunes though.

Its strange because out of people I know, the usual crowd are going..+ a good few people that havent been before have started getting memberships, single games & tournament tickets. Definitely true on the little marketing. I only saw the welsh twitter account start properly telling people after we realised ticket sales were poor. Before it they were guarded not saying that much at all.

If we do badly here and our rankings suffer as a result we could end up in pot 3 for the draw which could leave us with a very tricky draw and no 'back door route' to the Nations League, these games could be vital.

Not much talk of the Euro League Nations on Sky Sports either, although they are starting to mention a bit more of it now in the run-up to the games. I've heard hardly anything about the England games either, which makes a BIG change - it's all Premier League stuff (and José Mourinho in particular). This will hopefully change within the next week or so. I can't get my head round it. The Euro qualifiers proper are a long way off and this competition is the tonic for those still mourning the end of the World Cup. UEFA and sports broadcasters have really missed a trick here.

Just asked my group of mates if they were going and one of them remarked that they thought the ticket prices were a bit high considering it was a 'glorified friendly'. I then said that we could potentially qualify for the Euros if we win all our games, and he had no idea that there was anything riding on these fixtures. I wonder if this is the same for more casual fans up and down the country. I also wonder if the fact that the 2020 edition has no host has contributed to this as well.

One good thing to come out of this is Arriva losing their contract (apologies to supporters of Arriva but I just don't rate their services).

I'm telling you now, if we do well in these games and all the broadcasters jump on the "Euro League train", most people will say, "Huh, I didn't know that it was a proper (competitive) game", "I didn't find out about it", etc etc.

I don't think its just the fact its the Nations League, its also the opposition. We played them recently, in a particularly ugly game and lost. A lot of people will be put off by those three factors. Saying that I expect sales to pick up closer to the game, particularly from fans living within an hour or two of Cardiff.

Apparently we have sold 1300 tickets for the game. Seen spares been offered already so don't even think we will have that in the stadium
We do always bring less to games in September (due to cost of kids going back to school etc) but think this shows our bandwagon is truely back in the shed and we back to the hardcore support again.
Put it into perspective we had something like 1000 in Tbilisi a year ago so which was a trek as you guy's know so only 300 more going to Cardiff is extremely poor

Who likes travelling to the same place twice?! I struggle to see us filling 3/4's of the stadium as well, there's been hardly any build up to the game over here. Some people don't even know the match is on!

No Declan Rice for them. Looks like Southgate is trying to claw him from the boys in green. Interesting development regarding Declan Rice & he has played through the age groups for the ROI It would not suprise me if the English try the same tactic with Ethan Ampadu. But the ROI have been poaching players from NI & Scotland especially for many years and they did it with our Kevin Sheedy. Interesting comments from Pearce and Hodgson regarding Rice.... Both suggesting he stay where he is.
Gold at WHU has put him under pressure to declare for England, no doubt with a new contract and money involved.
But Pearce and Hodgson suggesting do you want to play 6-8 games and go nowhere or 60 games. Think it is a fair point as 1 cap wonders for England are common and will become more common.
Have a feeling he will play for Ireland rather than England but taking some time shows he considered it, even if he wasn't and shuts up Gold.
