Hard to believe but there was a period when lads were getting released based on their height, Tony Pulis was one who wanted giants when they were only 16yo.

Mad that, even in that BBC article, people consider 6ft 1 to be small for a centre back, it really isn't.

Cardiff obviously have never heard of Fabio Cannavaro.

Cardiff obviously have never heard of Fabio Cannavaro. Yep 5'9 and a Ballon D'or World Cup winning CB. Monster of a defender too. Height is part of the equation but you can be an amazing defender without it

Starts ahead of Rodon for me, appearances should be a bigger factor than the nebulous idea of potential. He's a proven player with over 300 EFL appearances and is repeatedly on the cusp of Premier League football.

Good on you, Tom!
With Bale and Allen and Gunter gone, we need someone in the national team with a bit of fire in his belly!
Hope he has a good game for Luton against Coventry tomorrow. As a neutral, I'm torn as to which team I want to win - Luton probably, because of the Tom Lockyer & Rob Edwards connections - although I've also had a soft spot for the Sky Blues over the years (not sure why!)

Oh dear. Nasty injury for Tom not even ten minutes in. He's unconscious surrounded by a lot of medical experts. All the best Tom. Fingers crossed for Luton. It'll be hard without captain fantastic.

He's not unconscious, but stretchered off , injured himself somehow with no contact from another player, that's desperate luck .

One of the oddest injuries I've seen. Hope it's just an injury because on the replays the way he fell flat on the ground after trying to get up looked a bit scary.

Won't post it here, but just saw the replay on twitter. Back peddling during a Coventry attack and seemed to trip. No major head contact as far as I could see. Looked like his right leg to me.Tried to get up, couldn't.Maybe a break or a dislocation. Poor bloke. Hope he makes a speedy recovery.
Edit. Could be a cardiac issue though also I guess? Very concerning.

Gutted for him & hope he's alright!
Might well be out for these upcoming games which would be a real shame, but on the other hand he's 45 mins away from becoming a Premier League footballer. Fingers crossed Luton hold out here!

Switched on just as the play had stopped. I was looking for the shirt as the camera panned around and then had that sinking feeling, hoping that Tom is ok

Luton issued a statement saying he's having tests in hospital, he is responsive and talking with his family.

Possibly because of the Wales shirts circa '76? I had the full kit as a kid! Would love Admiral to be our sponsor one more time, iconic kit!

Joe Taylor has just come on as sub so we’ve still got a Welsh interest (other than the general interest that we want Luton to win for Lockyer )

First and foremost, wishing all the best to Lockyer. I havent seem what happened nor looked up anything, so I hope this is nothing serious. The bloke deserves better than this after dragging himself back up the leagues.
Secondly, from a Welsh point of view, what f*ck is actually going on? Its maddening the injuries our players get, and the extent of the injuries. Its just beyond unlucky now.

Tom is someone I have failed to see much quality in in the past but anyone who is a driving force and plays a key part in getting a team with limited resources promoted to the Premier League has made his mark on the game and deserves everything positive he gets going forward.
Hope he makes a quick and full recovery from his injury - he deserves to recover quickly to have a decent shot at Premier League football.
