Because the manager and most Spurs fans think Rose is better Not quite, he has been first choice ahead of Rose for occasional spells. Unfortunately the competition between them to be first choice is hotly contested and I doubt he will ever reach a point where he sees Rose off for good unless Rose is sold to go on to better things. It's even more disappointing given what a cretin Rose is with his recent comments.

I thought it was in poor taste them way he bragged about spending the same amount on a night out as Montenegro were fined for their racist chanting against England (Montenegro were fined £20,000). Also the way he said he can't wait to see the back of football - it's a very privileged career, if he can't wait to leave it behind then why doesn't he have the courage of his convictions and quit now and let someone else have a go who would actually be grateful of the lifestyle it provides?

Comparing 20k to a night out is crass but he was trying to say that the fine for racist chanting is paltry, which it is. And I can't agree that saying you've had a gutsful of a career that regularly sees you racially abused makes you a cretin, no matter how well rewarded you are financially.

I am constantly amazed at the indignation of the English over some fans chanting. Do these f--kers forget that their fans terrorised Europe for decades, they weren't calling for bans then.
And when you look back, one incident at Cardiff and we were punished, England fans consistently rampaging and attacking people, no punishment.
And as for Danny Rose letting us all know he can afford to spend 20k on a night out when people in the country are going to food banks, don't get me started.

Paltry *compared to the sums a premier league footballer makes*. I'm not sure how much the Montenegran FA generates however I'm sure such a fine would not be seen as paltry by the FAW though! Either way yes, it was a valid point, but a very poor choice of words at a time when food banks are rife and homelessness is at epidemic levels due to a lack of affordable housing. A little bit of class would not go amiss from a footballer at such times.

I thought it was Davies for the league and Rose for the Champions League? I think Davies is a far better all-round player, and underrated in his position.

I think Davies is a far better all-round player, and underrated in his position. It's switched of late. If we're honest we'd have to acknowledge that Davies' weakness is his lack of pace, something that was evident when he first appeared for Swansea. He makes up for that through intelligence, but Rose does have an edge on him in that department. Having said that Rose is far less reliable in my opinion - and was perhaps partly at fault for Ajax's goal last night.

Especially against an attacking force like Ajax.

Pace is massive for a full back Can see him eventually moving inside as a centre back. He's already experience in that position.

If the spuds don't play our Ben, its looking like he will have three weeks on the beach, while the other Ben will only have three days rest before Croatia ...

Another bonkers tie, this years knock out stage has been full of them.
Llongyfarchiadau Ben! The CL final ain’t complete without a Welshman.

So Ben is out of the double header to have a hernia op. Massive loss, it’s like the Euro semi final again with Ramsey out as well.

Yea. My instant thought as well; +( A hernia procedure does take 6 to 8 weeks to really repair-so its obviously the spuds who put their own grandiose day dreams ahead of our National interests: +(

Fuck, that's not good news.
More of a reason for Gunter to start at least one of the games, experience is so valuable in these kind of fixtures.

Huge blow. With Dummett out as well it looks like Neil Taylor will be lining up against Croatia.
Yikes.

Is it just natural cognitive bias, or are we, as a nation, cursed with injury issues?
So, in all probability, we will have Ramsey, Davies and Ampadu of our first choice eleven out - along with first choice left-back backup in Dummett. How many of Croatia's first choice eleven are out (and this after the inevitable fatigue of little rest in the close season owing to their World Cup final appearance)? Looking at their squad I can't see any obvious absentees.
Can't Modric do the decent thing and get injured (nothing serious, just a hamstring tweak) - just to even things up a bit?

Agreed - plus he's a known quantity. Dummett, for all his superior recent PL pedigree, is hardly familiar with the Welsh setup.

Sorry, I accidentally clicked the like button instead of the quote one I'm not sure why they would target a player with extensive PL experience, and has just helped Aston Villa win promotion, over a rookie Championship right-back. If they watch a video of Taylor's horror tackle on Coleman they'll give him a wide berth for sure...
