Taylor just as good as Dummett and solid defensively, which is most important thing vs Croatia. Agreed - plus he's a known quantity. Dummett, for all his superior recent PL pedigree, is hardly familiar with the Welsh setup. That can be a benefit in some respects though...

Ironically Neil Taylor made his debut in Osijek against Croatia - hope he has better fortunes than his debut in 2010.

Feel let down by Ben.
Should play in these games and then get the op done.
Putting club before country.

Giggs "it's the Champions League Final..."
Yeah - but this is Wales.
Not happy that Davies and Giggs seem to be putting Spurs before Wales.

How can Giggs do anything else with his record.
This was my reason for not wanting him in charge.

People, as is usual on this forum, being incredibly harsh here. Ben Davies has given his all for our country. No one can fault his commitment at any point. He's had a long term injury that needs an op, it's clearly become a bigger issue as the season has gone on. He has gone from first choice at Spurs to rotating with Rose (one game each) since his month out injured, with what in all likelihood was the same injury, in February. I'd personally been wondering what had happened to him, he had been solid but not his usual self since then.
ANY player is going to do everything they can to be fit to play a part in a Champions League Final and while it is a shame that he is out of the Wales games all players should be thinking of thier long term welfare for both their club and country.

We all know he will be on the bench and maybe get on near the end.
He could play for us even if just the first game.
Fit enough for club should mean fit enough for country.

That's a very understanding post, and very gracious of you. But if his long-term welfare is really at the heart of this then Spurs wouldn't be asking him to play in the final at all - and probably wouldn't have in the end of season matches either. Similar story to Chester at Villa - being encouraged to play through an injury and potentially jeopordising his career in the process.

Not as important as sitting on the bench in a champions league game it seems.

The perspective here is that this is the biggest game of Ben's career. He may never get the opportunity to play in another Champions League final, which is why he is likely making himself available for that, and probably pushing his body for this one-off 20 minute appearance (which is a bad idea but I can sympathise with). I'd personally rather he missed our fixtures to get the op and be available for the rest of our campaign, rather than play the double header at even a small risk of getting a long term injury/career threatening injury. I don't doubt Ben's commitment for a second, and anyone questioning this hasn't heard him talk about missing previous fixtures.

Hope he picks up a winners medal tonight with Spurs. In Maurizio Pochettino they have a manager who gives British players a chance unlike the rest of them who just get out the checkbook.

well, that was underwhelming for him. I wonder if he knew that Spuds would lose and he wouldn’t even make it off the bench whether he would have changed his attitude to the Wales double header.
No-one has a right to play obviously but it must be damn hard not to feel a bit hard done by to carry on playing with a hernia and not even make it off the bench in the CL final, especially considering when they were chasing the game against Ajax Pochettino put Davies on so Rose could play as a winger yet chose not to do so this time round. I feel for the guy and would be tempted to hand in a transfer request after the summer if it were me.

Must be the worst champions league final in history.
It should be known as the lying on the beach final, truly awful game.

He's probably relieved to have not been part of one of the worst champions league finals ever. Yeah he can at least say that he never put his name to this performance but it’s not like Bale where Real Madrid losing with him out of the team enhances his reputation. As ineffective as Spurs were tonight won’t change anything. Rose will be first choice at the start of next season. Davies is good enough to play first team prem football and let’s be fair Spuds won’t play in another CL final in our lifetimes. He should move but would he be first choice at another Top 4 side? He’s probably have to drop down a bit in standard unfortunately.

Rose & Son were the only Spurs players who turned up, probably the worst final I've seen since Arsenal's 4-0 drubbing of Villa in the FA Cup.

Poor decision to bench Moura, but it's an easier call behind a screen like this.

No point wasting all that training.

What a tremendous boost having our best defender available. Maybe after not being involved on Saturday he thought ‘bollocks to Spurs, they can be without my services for a few weeks instead’.
